The cave is far from the guards, you do need a map to find it, as it's just a little square in the side of a hill for an entrance. Lots of spiderlings inside but they don't drop much silk nowadays. Last time I farmed Nektulos a month ago there were still plenty of silk threads dropping there.

Spiderlings also congregate on the field above the cave. If you walk to the barren basin area, head north along the west edge about half-way up, then take a left (west), you'll see them. The entrance to the cave is on the far side of a short, steep hill just west of there.
Like Ixiola, I also stop hunting when a newbie is in the area. It's only fair. If no one's around, I clear the area, both field and cave, to trigger re-pops.
Spiderling silks are going for 15-20 pp in the Bazaar on Vazaelle as of today. Shadeling silks are still about 10 pp. It was painful making a +2% fishing lure, knowing the ingredients would sell for so much more than the lure would be worth.
