This happenes to me alot since I do a lot of business communication over Instant Messanger programs.

I was suggesting a particular model to a customer and I type "IMHO this will work for what you need." He immediatly called for a translation and I said : I'm not really sure, but eyemoh this will meet your needs.

    He didn't buy anything

on another note, why can't I make 200 pieces of cake with one egg?

      Baking Mistake:
Tossed all the ingredients into for a cheesburger casserol into a dish and put it right into the oven. Didn't bother to mix anything.

      My Best Mistake:
At the dogtrack and yelling 'sow him' over and over. Then I went on about 'that stupid gnoll'.

      My Worst Mistake:
While driving on the highway past some roadkill I said 'Guess his quad came unsnared.'

While driving, my wife asked me if we were headed North or South.. Well I looked up to the top left hand corner of my windshield looking for my compass (where it has been on my screen in EQ for.... ever? hehe). I had to pull over I was laughing so hard... She on the other hand didn't find it quite as funny. Wonder why?

One of my co-workers is leaving us and we are throwing a party. When someone asked about funds for the party I said "I have 10 plat I can chip in". Needless to sat they all looked at me funny.
I have also asked co-workers to "Shoot me a tell" which gets another look.
I got caught mumbling "This zone is to dang big" when I was wandering the warehouse looking for someone.

the other day, my off day, i had the front door wide open and the dog tired to the front porch (in guard mode), had $5 on table besides me.

My son (8 y/o) got home from school and asked why the dog was out front and the door open, i told him, "I'm camping the icecream man, he should be spawning in about 10-20 minutes"". He looked at me and asked "when he pops, what ya gonna loot?". I answered "a bananna fudge pop", he said "if he drops a bomb pop, i could use that".

my son does not play EQ. I got a chuckle about 15 minutes later when the dog started barking, we heard the icecream truck music, my son hollered "POP, DAD, ICCCCEEEEEEE CRREEEEEEEAAAAMMMM MAAAAAAANNN".

I grabbed the $5 ran to spawn spot and mezzed that icecream truck by waving that $5 bill in the air. Looted my bananna fudge pop and bombpop, returned to my safespot (comp desk) as my son and i did the split.

One of my professors in college was driving by a park named Basil Griffin Park. He sees griffin on the sign... freaks out and checks his rearview looking for a grif...

I just remembered an incident I had while walking down the street.

I had just dropped my car off at the mechanic and was walking home about 1/2 a mile. This one street is deserted and dark and as I pass under a tree I hear a treant groan at me from melee range and I jumped outta my skin it was such a perfect sound match for the PoN treants. Scared the crap out of me but had me laughing out loud literally.

While on the phone while playing, I'll say "zoning" and stop talking as I zone,(because you chat when zoning right?) . So far my friends have been understanding ...

We joke that I still get lost in Qeynos (my home city) and I *do* still get turned around in my home town of 31 years! I've definately looked for that compas on the windshield. And if you do that, backsapce-maps is a given, heh.

I say LOL (ell-oh-ell), gratz, /boggle out loud all the time. And Aye. Sometimes I have to turn the /filter EQspeak on to make sure I can be understood.

My husband (who got me hooked on EQ) has sat back from dinner and said "Whew! That was a Banquet! What was the yield?" Meaning he's stuffed, and will there be leftovers to take for lunch.

I've referered to doing laundry as "finally washing your armor".

My husband just got a lateral semi-promotion at work; I told him he changed camps 'cause the spawn (supervisor) was more reasonable, but the XP and splits were the same....

QUICK! Is it SOW pronounced "sou" as in the name for a female pig, or "soe" as in how one plants grain?

I've said the lol many times... and said /boggle as well. I've looked for a map, and a compass, and once tried to ctrl+alt+r out of my database at work so I could check my email.

                          However, my most memorable eqism...

I was christmas shopping. Had just finished at Target, and was walking back to my car. As I approach my car, this minivan pulls in next to my drivers door, and 2 adults jump out. The woman opens the sliding door, and like FIVE little girls, all about a year appart pile out of the van.

                          I said, "TRAIN!!!"

I live with my brother and my 2 small children, his 3 small children. when i first started playing my little pally, my brother who had changed servers gave me a bunch of stuff and some plat. I was in the bazaar and my daughter came out of her room( she was 4 att) and she said "mommy are you twinking ur character somemore?"

The kids where chasing my brother down the hall and our friends where over. someone shouted "train". and 8 people got up and ran out the back door. they all said zoning as they went.

When i got ghoulbane the kids would stand behind me and when i was playing. My friend walked in (she does not play eq) And yelled at the kids who where shouting proc at the computer cause she thought they where saying something bad. We use loc when looking for things or people. The kids often "camp" the bathroom. we have actually had people lol, rofl, go afk, and complain about how they forgot to download maps before going to the store.

We have all been yelled at by people for using eq jargen in rl. And the kids are just as bad. they have little folding chairs that they use to watch us play everquest. When my daughter came home from my parents she asked me "did u find the stupid dorf for ur thurg turn in yet?" She is now 5.

                              Hilarious!

Alot of these situations have gone on in my life. Personally, my drive to and fro from work gets pretty sticky and sometimes when i'm in grindlock i try to gate. Albeit, i'm pretty good about catching, ROFL (Roffulls), LOL, Aye, and Nay's at work before they fall outta my mouth. People just don't understand, and thats fine...less crowded zones .

                                Rl

I have no clue how I found this thread... or what I was originally searching for, but I am glad I did.

From my own personal experience, I used to say "aye" quite a bit, then cut back once I really noticed it. I do commonly say "no problem" though (and it occasionally slips into emails and such, where upon seeing it I rephrase it.) Also I occasionally say "send me a tell" and quickly follow that up with call/email as appropriate. But by far, my fondest memory of EQ slipping into real life...

My coworker Jack, a Diablo 2'oholic and the only other gamer in the office, was cleaning out some old documents in our vault at work. I just happened to go in to get some coffee when he held up an old document that in big bold letters said "DPS" on it and he asked what "DPS" was. To which I replied, without a moments hesitation, Damage Per Second. We both busted up laughing because he knows the term from D2. (Turns out it actually stood for Data Processing Signals. BLAH!)
