What broke, the strap itself, the stitches, or did the stitches get torn out of the fabric? Maybe the forces could be deflected by diagonal stitches or the addition of a D-ring. . .

    oops, digresson.

All too much recently, I've been saying things like:
"You've gotten better at packing! [2]"
"You've gotten better at being stinky! [98]"

This is because I'm getting ready to move, however, I say that phrase a lot about almost anything... "You have gotten better at navigating Wal-Mart [2]"

Just insert whatever you're doing and a number and it's a go! I happen to suck at lots of stuff, thus always getting better at ---- [2]

Edit: I just realized that I also say "Incoming (insert whatever here, food, yourself, a sock)" all the time. Too much pulling.

I actually ate something I found while cleaning because I wasn't thinking about what I was doing. I then realized that petrified whatever (probably rodent turds) are not an edible forage....

Then there was the time I was riding with my parents to go to a reception and of course my dad got lost (been doing that for years) so I said "Hold on, lemme look at my map and give you a l....." the "ell" noise was as far as I got before I realized that A) I was not in EQ, and B) they were looking at my funny like.

I also once wondered out lound if a dead animal I saw in the road needed a drag and rezz. My friend who was with me thank god piddled in EQ for a few months and knew what I was talking about. He didn't let me forget though.

I've tried to use the /who command to see who was home upon logging in (waking up). Life would be so much easier if /who really worked. Imagine how much easier it would be to avoid people for one thing.

I've also told friends to look for a waiter to pull to camp on more than one occasions. I believe the exact phrase was something like "If you see a serving wench pull it to camp". They don't mind, they know I've never lived in a shared reality so they see no difference. TGI's has particularly poor wanderer pathing, we can never get one to path to camp on it's own in less than half an hour. Respawns are murder too.

I live in an EQ house (I've been playing since Sept '99, and I'm the "newbie" -- hubby's been playing since day 1 of release, and our roommate was in beta) so the "You have gotten better at [whatever] (#)" flies around quite a bit.

We recently got a new kitten, and he's still a bit shy, so he spends quite a bit of time hiding in boxes, under couches etc. The dog, however, is excited about her new playmate, so she sits outside wherever he is hiding and just waits for him to come out. My husband laughed when he came home and I told him that the dog had been camping the kitten all day.

I've played since Nov '99 myself. Back then, and for a long time, there was no compass on screen. You had to hit your Sense Heading hotkey. Oh, and if you hadn't already hit it 60 million times to skill up Sense Heading, it would take several tries. (Oh, and the in-game compass originally "wandered" depending on how high your Sense Heading skill was. Nowadays of course everyone automatically has 200 skill.)

When I started playing EQ, I was doing odd job work while I looked for a permanent job (had just moved back to IL from PA). So I drove a lot, both to job interviews and my odd jobs and running errands for those I worked for. Needless to say I went to a lot of places I'd never been and did not know the way.

At least a dozen times I smacked myself upside the head because my fingers kept wanting to smack the 4 key -- which is what Sense Heading was mapped to. I admitted that to a friend once and he laughed at me for the rest of the day ... though I got my own revenge since he was a Q3A player

Well, back on the original (if ancient) topic, are you sure that they have not indexed the real life recipes into the search engine.

Ok now this happened a few weeks ago... but spent a long day working at my folks, then did the slow solo xp grind/farming on EQ late into the night. Logged for the night, checked email and message boards and its time to shut computer down for night right? Well typing /camp.... and was sitting there for a minute and wondering why my computer wasn't shutting down.....

                      Dangerous Game Imersion

This is a bit off topic, as it does not apply to EQ, but I had just spent 40 hours one weekend at work playing an ancient game called NETHACK (which has nothing to do with the net or with hacking). Its one of those games where you die alot, and to recover, you reload a previously saved game.

Well, late sunday night, I was driving home, thinking about the game rather than my driving when I almost had an accident (with copious swerving and almost flipping over). I found myself thinking "Oh well, if I had died, I could just reload".

Two cans of Green Beans (unstacked), one can of cream of mushroom soup, half a can of Durkee fried onions, half a cup of milk, some salt and pepper mixed into a casserole dish. (First sub combine, RL Baking 15 trivial)

Place uncooked green bean casserole in oven (regular or tanaan) pre-heated to 350 degrees for around 30 minutes. (Second sub combine, RL Baking 25 trivial)

Remove cooked green bean casserole, top with second half of can of Durkee fried onions and continue baking for another 5 minutes (Third sub combine, RL Baking 25 trivial)

Serve to very impressed friends and roommate.

Had two friends from out of town (eq'rs). Was giving them a tour of the house:

"This is our den, Christmas Tree spawns there *points*"

Looked over they both smiling, knowing exactly what I meant.

A while back I had convinced my friend to try out EQ and he got addicted as expected, I know I'm evil. Anyways, we were playing one night and decided to get some fast food. We grabbed a bag of burgers and sat down in the living room watching the screens of the LAN we had set up. I hurridly went looking through the bag and asked him if he was "Ready for your split?" He agreed and proceeded to ask what was in the bottom of the bag and I simply replied, "Nothing but vendor fodder, you can keep it."

I often found myself at work with a highlighter and an inkn pen, all the while thinking to myself that Shamans shouldn't be dual wielding. It's a constant battle I tell you. Sometimes I will be at the copier and the occassional co-worker stops in for small talk and they ask the usual "How's it going?" I reply with "Over 200 copies and not one darn skill up, how do you think I'm doing?" I saw a few posts up about the saying LOL out loud, I do that more than often, and it's just not funny anymore. I'm beginning to feel like Data (Where's my SW geeks at?).

Husbandguy smacked the alarm clock a little while back and mumbled 'S'okay...I'll just port to work' (*snore*) and I SWEAR my first thought was 'Hahaha... silly Husbandguy.. you can't port... you're a RANGER! haha'

We went out for a nice sit down family dinner over the Easter break holiday with HG, myself and the kids.. and I am absolutely certain the other diners must have thought we were the psycho family because Kate (the 8 year old) and HG were bantering along about a recent guild raid (at which, HG, being a ranger, died a lot).. Kate kept saying well.. it's ok daddy.. you tanked those demon guys really well before you died! Good thing mommy's a doctor. (/patrons smile nervously and edge away toward the exits).

I've had to explain to the kids' teachers why they have incomprehensible speech in their vocabulary.. things like 'LOL, tank, mana, OOM, rez plz, thankzors, gate, port, etc etc etc'. They're doing well in school, are all quite literate and voracious readers, and are all three fluent in Norwegian and English, and don't behave like savages... So I'm pretty pleased with how they're turning out. 'Normal' is boring =)
