      question on upcoming alchemy changes

i also wish to thank you for the forewarning of changes to alchemy. i have taken the steps needed to prepare for the most part. i have a lvl 26 barb (same name as user name) shammy on stromm server. his alchemy skill is at 100 at the moment.

my question is about an updated or comprehensive recipe list. (including if these changes will effect making augment stones). i have the current stuff printed out, and have been using (took like a ream of paper). but am wondering about the new changes.

i have looked in the usual places (eqtraders, alla, etc.) and find the new listings for recipes.

is there going to be a posting of the new recipes? or if someone already has and i have missed it , where can i find ?

any help or advice and greatly appreciated.

new recipes won't be posted until after the expansion comes out. at that time, they'll need to get posted in the "update submissions" forum, and then they'll get posted to the database here. patience, grasshopper!

Yep, since these are happening with the expansion, and that's still under NDA at last check, nobody is able to post information on the recipes yet. This was just a special case where Ngreth got clearance to warn us all, since tradeskillers are prone to stockpiling stuff, and they needed time to deal with all the ... stuff ... they've stored away.

I know this is probably a big time stretch ..... but it was meantioned somewhere in a different post that is would be totally helpful if we could make 100 shot potions. I.E. Taking 10 - 10-shot DS potions and placing them in the bearskin bag and making them into 1 - 100shot DS potion. Is there any chance of that happening in this patch. I know a many shaman that would love this. If not, is there a reason why this cant happen ? Thanks for you time.

At this time we will not be making 100 shot potions (you will see why what you asked will not work in the fashion you mentioned when the expansion is released. But at this time we do not plan for "100" in the new method either. There may be some other benefits though )

            Intriguing

            Hmm let the speculation begin....

            Ok, my first guesses.
            1. Potions no longer have "doses", but are consumed slowly over time! Hrm. Then how could cure potions work. Ok that one is out, maybe.
            2. Potions aren't made one dose at a time, but have a certain dose value based on the size of the jug you make them with? So you can brew/combine/stir up? 25 hydrangea and sumbul in one large jug to make a huge 25 clicky antiweight potion?
            3. Potions, once drank, give that person the ability to cast that spell a certain amount of times? The potion disappears from inventory, and you can either make a hotkey or mem it in a spell gem? People can drink some set amount of potions at once, and that ability shows up in a new 'potion spell window' for them to choose from at a later date? Hrm. overpowering maybe hehe.
            4. Ok, I'm out of ideas

Ok, so what would make the doses of a potion irrelevant to potion making? At least thats how I interpret the above quote...

edit: nevermind hehe. I missed the new stacking bit lol.

Maddoc answered it (Spoilsport! I wanted to suprise folks!!!)
They now stack, up to 20. (so more than 10, but not 100!)

Note. This stacking will have a "detrimental" effect if you guys think about it enough (people abused the bug enough! Basically fixed a longstanding "bug")

I'm sure your refering to selling back a potion with only 1 charge on it and that it sells for the same as one with 10 charges.

Yes, that's what he's talking about, and it's an age-old problem with pretty much anything sellable that has charges.

The stackability changes coming to Alchemy correct this bug, while at the same time making things a good bit easier on you guys in the long run (less clicking, hooray!).

Heads up may want to tell you better customers to stock up on 10 shot gates for the sell back value.

              And this is only potions.

We did not touch augments, dyes, and the other miscellaneous stuff alchemy got.

                  Non Disclosure Agreement

that thing people agree to when they test stuff, that says they won't tell anyone about what they are testing.

                    Yep.

Basically the only people that are allowed to talk about it in detail are people that work for the EQ department of SOE.

And well... I will not be giving recipes. I want players to have a change to figure it out for themselves. I know it is possible, because Beta players have been doing it

                      Two questions:
Since you are changing nearly all the herbs, do the recipes that used in other trade skills like brewing and DoD research still work?
Do I need to use up herbs that I had stockpiled for non-alchemy recipes?

As far as quests go, Essence of Concealment is used for This quest in VP.

I am going to run a price check. but if it was not an alchemy potion, it is not changed.
No herbs went away. Prices on vendor herbs changed. some drop only have no use in alchemy any more, but if they were used elsewhere, they are still being used, and they did not go away.
I ran through recipies and only found two that used potions, and fixed them.
If it was not a potion (Like the sludge from OoW, like grinding the powder for AAAA) the recipie did not change.

Already fixed that one on beta. Fix will go with the expansion patch.

I checked this morning, and only three recipes yielded any exploitable profit with the change.

Two thickeners from DoD Spell research. For these I changed it to a yield of 30 to avoid an exploitable profit.

Coldain Heater. For this one I reduced the price of the item itself.

apparently some of the changes have gone in already? after the POK beta vendors fiasco, i was in a panic last night over what to do when the potions i was making stacked to 20 like the new POK (clarity/healing/etc) potions, bypassing the bearskin potion bag. i decided to just make the darn potions without worrying about it, since i made em to use myself, but it was a very nice change regardless. do you want to know what i was making or does it matter at this point?

the "class balance" potions (healing, clarity, haste, etc..) that went in somewhere around DoN... have always stacked to 10. if they stack to 20 on live that is odd... but possible Not sure how it happened, but also not important.

Also if you are on test server you may be seeing some things a bit early.

if you want to send me a PM I will investigate.

                                Bearskin Potion Bag

Alchemists will not be making 5 or 10-shot jugs of potion. So what becomes of this dandy container? I suggest that it be renamed. Or perhaps a different container could be made from the same pelt.
