      It's offical.

My trader has been asked for buffs.

Level 2 Wood Elf Rogue wearing all blackened alloy armor (complete set) and 2 steins.

Why do people insist on asking wood elves for KEI? Do they really think that enchanters always run around looking like wood elves?

        I can explain the enchanter:

        Spell: Illusion Halfling

I guess some people think there is a consipracy to try to hide all the enchanters, so anyone, and everyone, is an enchanter.

          Darn tootin'!

I specifically went out and got a shirt with a non-robe graphic, and I carry Drakkel Wolf Claws in one hand and either my JC trophy (looks like glowing transparent shield) or Preserved Chokadai Vocal Cords (looks like a whip) in my off hand.

I call it my Rogue Illusion:

But I enjoy being a gnome too much to use illusions spells.

Yep, here is my recipe for Illusion Rogue

              Recipe for Spell: Illusion Rogue
              a) Blood Weave Tunic
              b) Bone Armplates
              c) Bone Legplates
              d) Grandmaster Brewers Corker in Primary
              e) Ceramic Sword of War in Secondary

Any enchanter wearing that gear will apear to be a dual weilding rogue.... of course I still get begging tells for buffs despite my gear. But it does confuse the heck out of group leaders when I show up looking like that.

                  /sigh

I decided to try to go non-roleplay for a bit again and didn't last a week with it.

Sitting in PoK waiting to head out with my group:
                  random_01: hi!
                  Froni: hello
random_01: could you buff me and my pet please?
Froni: sure thing, I am standing outside of the littles bank
random_01: come to Kurn's Tower to buff me and my pet
Froni: sorry, I am already running late and don't have time to run to Kurn's

sitting around in Plane of Storms waiting for giant bopping to get organized
random_02: Hi, could you spare a port?
Froni: um, I am waiting for a raid to start but sure where to?
                  random_02: Surefall Glade
Froni: okies - um I can't seem to find you in zone
random_02: pick me up in Unrest
                  Froni: sorry

similar events x3 or 4 within a few days

OK couldn't stand it anymore and put /roleplay right back on
Unless I am out of mana or running really late I am more than happy to buff people and port folks, I'll often track down the folks in PoK looking for a buff or help people get through zones for corpse runs, but a random tell from a distant zone is just a bit too much for me.

                  oh meant to add:
my rogue disguise uses Vludeen's Tail - I think it is the only druid wieldable whip. The rest of my armor looks like chain anyhow, so all I do is add a parrying dagger or my baking spoon.

Wow Froni, those are some annoying (and bold) requests.

Unrest? That's what, two zones away from BB and a PoP stone? It's not like druids can port into Unrest, or even Dagnor's Cauldron (can they?), so he'd have to meet you in BB anyway.

                    Man, people are lazy.

Sometimes laziness is a good thing.

On the flip side, I was once offered an extra 100pp to deliver a set of pie tins from PoK to Thurgadin. For me as a newbie player, that was a great deal!

There is an all/all 1hs that drops in the hole. Its lore, and it has a lousy dmg/dly ratio, but is great for /role to get rid of beggars. Stand around with that in your primary and your cleric won't be getting buff begging.

I was starting to collect a set of the armor that drops in the hole, because I saw a post by a shaman who liked to pretend to be a rogue. So he would dress up in this armor (which looked like the black rogue armor that barbs can get in halas), go to naggy/vox raids and summon a pet (while standing next to the shamen), so then all the shamen would get in trouble. Since he was /role and over 52, the question of "how do you keep from getting banished" was answered with "I mash my evade key all the time."

I get more group requests when I'm not LFG then when I am LFG, which I've just found funny.

I guess I'm one of those "hi" people... just how I start a conversation, and lets me check for an AFK flag.

Fortunately, I generally offer a decent amount of money and offer to come to you if I'm asking for buff(s) you aren't currently advertising. In fact, the last enchanter to C5 me got 325pp... I felt bad for the enchanter slaving over a loom, especially since I was getting the buff to do tailoring combines and head back to Cobalt Scar...

Beggars stink though, I prefer to tell them they are ignore and tell them exactly what I think about beggars all in one tell, NOT put them on ignore, and then take screenshots of their retorts for laughs later.

Another fun thing to do: just copycat their buff requests, or type them back to them backwords: "zlp zlp zlp sffub em evig sffub tnaw i"

Maybe I'm just sadistic... wait... I'm a tradeskiller.

Granted, ENC get Illusion: Wood Elf, but, there is no Illusion: Rogue...

Actually, only Enchanters 60+ can cast KEI.

Though if you'll pardon my saying so, I think my enchantress does a fair job of imitating Illusion: Rogue... That's partly owing to tradeskill items, which many intelligence casters don't wear. Astonishing as it was to me initially, some robes actually have better stats than the cultural chainmail.

My Enchantress, when traveling, often wears her cultural chainmail. She wields a dagger in one hand and a claw (graphic resembles a dagger) in her off-hand. When I put her on /role or /anon and add a non-chanter-race illusion... the effect is very similar to what one would see when looking at a rogue of that race.

My favorite illusions for her are Wood Elf, Vah Shir, and Barbarian. When she wears the wood elf illusion, in chainmail, she's often mistaken for a druid. In Vah Shir or Barbarian illusion, she's often mistaken for a shaman.

Yes, that's with the "illusion" of dual-wielding piercing weapons! /sigh

Maybe I should try Illusion: Dwarf... /shrugs unknowingly

Why do I try to camoflage her? Because I dare not take either my 63 chantress or 63 priestess off /role or /anon. Otherwise the tell spam requesting buffs / rezzes just don't stop. No matter what zone the character is in at the time.

I'm nearly always available to help friends or guildmates. Many times those rez runs are about all I can keep up with -- there have been 6-hour sessions where all that happened was that I ran from one place to another rezzing guildmates. I simply don't have time to run after every stranger in need, though I tend to almost instinctively want to help. I know what it's like, since I play other classes besides cleric. If I see an /ooc rez request when I am between other tasks, I often send tells requesting specifics.

Unfortunately, there are numerous zones I don't have access to and therefore cannot go render aid. I never bought GoDiscord; I probably won't be buying OoWar anytime soon (if at all), and I have a distinct shortage of planar flags.

There are also some zones that I lack adequate familiarity with, making it nearly impossible to find my way to the victim's corpse in a reasonable amount of time. So there are certainly times when I'd be willing to help, if only I was realistically able.

Only on rare occasions when people are begging for KEI *and* nobody else is offering it *and* I am not otherwise occupied *and* I feel sorry for the folks who are asking *politely* ... then and *only* then ... my chantress will offer KEI /ooc to whomever is in need.

I've imagined making an /ooc hotkey along the lines of "I hear the cries of the weak-minded, pleading for relief! You can find me behind the Nexus stone, where I shall bestow blessings to strengthen your minds -- enough that you can face the wild lands with boldness! (KEI, Clarity, C2, Tranquility).

                                /smirks mischievously

Unfortunately, given the maturity level of the average buff-beggar, I am concerned that most of them may not get the joke... and that I would likely need a much larger /ignore list to dodge the flame-throwers.

So I dream about interesting /ooc responses, but I don't attempt to act out said dreams. Chances are, that approach is more amusing /entertaining than the other would be anyhow.

                                ===============================================

If someone wants to imitate illusion: intelligence caster, I'd recommend the "shade silk robe." All / all, dark grey (undyed) robe graphic (sorry, only appears with robe-wearing races), no appreciable stats but any character can equip it.

I made a batch of those, enough for all my robe-race characters that don't ordinarily wear robes. I wanted them to have "formal attire" for roleplay purposes. The shade silk swatches drop off dark aliens in the caverns in Shadeweaver's Thicket. The robes take very little tailoring skill, so it was comparatively quick and easy to outfit my characters with their "formal" robes.

In Paludal caverns, the fungal fiends sometimes drop dewclaws that are piercing weapons and are all/all equippable. Also easily farmed.
