I played a lot fo buffing classes in EQ; Shaman, Enchanter, Paladin to failrly high levels. Buff demands never stop. Many are rude, some are polite. I eventually gave up on being irritated, and just ignored them or not as I felt like at the moment.

The really polite ones got my assitance more often than not, and the rude ones never got free help.

What really did irritate me were the groups where no one would do anything without buffs. Waiting for the tank to go off in search of HoV and the casters to go seek out KEI while the rest of the group twiddled their fingers for 20 minutes almost always caused me to want to solo instead.

SK. I used to leave all my visible armor slots as their default color scheme (no dyes). I prefered it that way.

The amount of times I get asked for Brell's is mind-boggling. I'm never /anon or role. I'll have a skeleton Jobober following me around. I still get asked for pally buffs.

So I ended up dying all my armor in the Darkforge color-scheme (black plate, dark/blood red helmet, boots, hands). Since the dye-job the requests have settled down quite a bit, though now it amazes me even more when folks ask.

Did you know that PLATE-wearing halflings can SoW, KEI and shammie buff?

The SoW I can *sorta* understand - many people think all halflings are druids, and there's a plate-looking BP out there for druids, if memory serves correctly. But since when can halflings be enchanters or shammies, not to mention when did either of those classes become able to wear plate?

Of course, we won't go into the fact that I was NOT in rp mode at the time, and a /who showed clearly that I was a cleric. I really should have pulled out my tailoring trophy for the dagger look and tried to pass myself off as a rogue!

For awhile my husband, who plays a lvl 65 barbarian warrior, would get constant requests for SoW, clarity, ports, etc. Guess they figured any barbarian was a shaman who could SoW, although he was usually wielding 2 one handed weapons. What's amusing to me, is someone walking up to him when he's playing his barb shaman, and asking for SoW. His response usually is "do I look like a shaman to you?" which he then remembers, he's not on the warrior, but his shaman. One time when he was asked for a port, he had said he was oom, and the person casted clarity on him while he was sitting, and asked if he was gaining mana back from it

I've found a cool and painless way to get buffs. I usually resort to it if I want KEI and there is no one advertising in PoK.

/ooc MGB 70% extended nine at stone bank in 5 minutes

I send out a reminder every minute.

              Other MGB'ers will show up.

In the end I get a bunch of thank yous and a bunch of buffs, usually including MGB C3, SD, seven and others.

The good thing is that everyone is buffed, everyone is happy and no one begged.

There are three breastplates for druids, with a plate look:

                      Sliver Chiten (from Velks)
                      Brown Chiten Protector
                      And the Droga/Nurga (quest) one

There may be more, but those three I know of for sure.

                        Thicket-

                        Exactly ....

/ooc MGB of KEI at Main Bank in 5 minutes...
/ooc looking for Virtue (or 9/7/Kaz) ... No donations please...

                        /ooc (ditto) 4 minutes ...

Usually I can wind up with HoV, SD, BSS, Fo7 at least. Sometimes I get a bunch more.

But lately I've slowed down on this. Because now it seems that about 10 seconds before I start the MGB train... someone announces their selling KEI. And I generally don't cut into other people's profits selling buffs. Then again if the "MGB train" has started I'll toss in KEI no matter if there's a vendor or not.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

Hehe, i must admit i beg chanters for a KEI with my monk when doing tradeskill. Always offer money of course, but only 1 chanter so far took it, they usually too chocked about a monk asking for KEI for the wis for tradeskilling

But my worst type of tells are the ones that ask from ANOTHER zone to come buff them. Had a guy call me names because i didnt want to move from POK to Paludal to buff him, he "only needed regen and skin and DS".

Had a warrior stand RIGHT in front of me last week, then ask for Focus and Sta buff. Should think the druid look and not being anon should tip him off, but no. Told him that i were a druid, and were usually not that good at shammy buffs. His reply: I thought that Elders were shammys (the guy looking at my AA title)

My favorite exchange occurred on my kitty shaman when she was in her early 20s (she was deleted in favor of an Iksar some time ago), back when KEI stuck to the under 45 set. This happened in PC:

                            CluelessMage: I need KEI.
Me: (thinking this is basic group talk, doesn't respond).
CluelessMage tells you: Hello, I said I needed KEI.
I tell CluelessMage: OK, so go get KEI. You'll have to ask the group leader if he can hold your spot.
CluelessMage tells you: You can't cast KEI?

(this puzzles me because, of course, only enchanters can cast KEI and only 60+ enchanters at that. Maybe he thinks I'm using illusion -- but no, his thinking can't be that sophisticated).

                            Me: I'm a shaman.
CluelessMage tells you: I know that.
                            Me: Shamans can't cast KEI.
                            CluelessMage tells you: o

                            (me thinking I'll be helpful)

Me: Only enchanters 60+ can cast KEI.
                            CluelessMage tells you: o
Me: And Vah Shir can't be chanters.
                            CluelessMage tells you: o

(Time passes. A 60 cleric from our guild decides to be nice and comes to PC to buff the group. She's human, clad in armor, clicky stick, the whole enchilada. I tell the group a 60 cleric is inc to buff us and everyone seems very happy. She's buffing us when I get this exchange).

CluelessMage tells you: Ask her if she will cast KEI on me.
                            Me: Um, she's a cleric.
                            (pause)
CluelessMage tells you: Yeah, but will she cast KEI?

I swear I am not making this up.

I normally love giving buffs as I pass through zones, but one time I put someone on ignore.

(I was afk at a LDoN entrance medding up for the mission, but forgot afk tag.)
                              Person says, sow plz
                              Person says, sow plz

                              Person says, sow plz
                              Person says, FU

I got back, and I told them like "sorry I was afk." They responded with something like "yeah right, (insert random insult)." As if it's my DUTY to give SoW to anyone who asks on a whim, and then to get accused of lying about being afk? Welcome to ignore! (The only person on my shaman's ignore too.)
