    levels for drops?

That's an excellent summary table and accompanying notes by Yakk. One piece of information I found it useful to add is the level range for the mobs that drop the stuff. I believe these can be taken from Ngreth's post on the SOE boards, so the ranges are 1-5, 3-10, 5-15, 16-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-52, 53-57, 58-62, 63-67, 68-72, 73-77 (incorrectly posted as 73-33), and 78-99.

I should go back to check where I've gotten earlier drops, but for instance when my level 58 was killing DBs in Blackfeather Roost last night, I was finding Pristine Silks and Pelts, which indeed match up with level 53-57 in the charts.

i used 1 water flask + 1 malleable iron thread + 1 soft filament + 1 fine silk wristband template + 1 fine spinneret fluid + 1 pattern for dark elven wristbands + teir'dal needle

      result:
      Intricate duskwoven armband
      class: Nec, Wiz, Mag, Enc
      race: DEF
      rec. level 60, req 55
      etc etc etc
I knew this new stuff would be confusing at first, but sheesh having to go to grobb to buy DE stuff.../sigh

There seems to be a bug of some type that prevents people from seeing the chest and pants for silk templates. Just /bug it in game and try checking it again when you log back on

Just look in a container with 10 slots The container will not show recipes that will not fit in it. So sorry, not a bug.

Oh, I see. I have only been using the Planar Sewing Kit. Didn't know there was a 10-slot container.

There has been some discussion about lowered Sunshard rates. This is something I have noticed over time with EQ: An expansion comes out and for the first couple of weeks the *cool stuff* drops all the time. Slowly, over time, the drops become increasingly rare, until they reach a plateau of stability. THEN, when a new expension is about to be released, the drops again plummet, to almost non-exsistance with the actual expansion release.

I have experienced this over and over again in EQ since 1999 and, while it *may* be only a 'precieved phenomanon' as opposed to an 'objective phenomanon', I find it odd that so MANY of us seem to precieve the same thing.

My speculation is that it is a deliberate coding to *encourage* us all to move on to the new content, However I could be wrong. Any chance of some insight into this Ngreth?

I think conspiracy theories give the conspirators too much credit.

We cant even get all the drops need for cultural armor in game with launch nor all in the same zone with skillups possible. What makes you think they could pull something like planned decrease in drop rates off over the course of 8 years?

Yeah, its possible, but not very likely.

Yes, I know tradeskills are a complicated system with lots of things that can go wrong, but remember when people took pride in their work and getting things right the first time or making them right quicky? Surely not a trend in EQ and nothing against Ngreth personally and I know its a team effort (I think hes been the best thing to come out of SoE), but the cultural armor revamp has been muttled since it was first announced.

Still not worse than the launch of Shadows of Luclin though. . .

                          No.
We do not spend the time to do something like that.
No. We do not do that.
It is perception and people moving on to new content.

Whenever a new expansion comes out, everyone flocks to it. As content gets older, people stop going to those places. How many people do you still see hunting PoP elemental zones for experience? The "good zones to be in for experience" usually have a few drops that are common in the bazaar. When people stop going to those zones to experience, the rate of those items entering the game drops. This is not a coded change in drop rate, but a reduction in the number of mobs killed with the item on its drop table. This is part of the reasoning, I think, that Ngreth pushed for "global" drop tables for the cultural armor and sunshard. When people stopped doing DoN missions in the Nest after TSS came out, the price of MDS and GDH went from 12-15k to 30-50k on my server. Not because of a change in the drop rate on SoE's side but because of a change in kill rate on the player side.

When people stopped going to GoD when OoW came out, the tradeskill drops from those zones became rarer. As, you said, this happens over and over with each new expansion. But the reason is not a coded one.

It might be helpful to mention that there is currently a skill up penalty on silk combines (and that the penalty should be removed in November). I can see people coming here just looking for a guide, and not reading the warning thread in the general forum.

Yes I noticed this also, after going through about 70 silks and no skill ups. Bummer, wasting many hours worth of farming and nothing in return
