    This round, I took a little bit of a detour to spend up the majority of my Ice Cream Churn ingredients that I had acquired during time. I’ll probably try to sell them in the bazaar, if I don’t give them away to any of our guild’s bankers who may need them. Here is how my run went:

    Here is the breakdown of leveling:

    263 – 264: (11 combines; 9s, 2f) NOTE: 1st 10 combines were non-DoN Cultural Armor
    264 – 265: (1 combines; 1s, 0f)
    265 – 266: (4 combines; 4s, 0f)
    266 – 267: (6 combines; 6s, 0f)
    267 – 268: (4 combines; 4s, 0f)
    268 – 269: (8 combines; 8s, 0f)
    269 – 270: (15 combines; 15s, 0f)
    270 – 271: (10 combines so far, 10s, 0f)

    This time (including the Ice Cream Churn combines and not including my 10 combines with out a skill-up) I got a skill up every 7 combines. If I include the last 10 combines, it is a skill-up every 8.43 combines.

    It will be curious to see if I am beginning to enter the h377 levels of skilling up, as my it took more than double my previous average to get from 269 to 270, and it appears that I am on par for at least that many combines to get to 271.

    I am out of Yttrium, so will need to farm some and/or set up my buyer in the bazaar to buy some. I figure I will need anywhere from 7 to 10 stacks to reach 290. And probably at least triple that many to reach 300 from 290.

    I think I’ll just continue on with DoN armor all the way through 300, unless I get a bunch load of free Clockwork Grease from a guildie

    Expert Mechanist Trophy, Level 5/7 – 2% - ?% (still forgot to check progress, but I know that I am over 10%. Trophy evolution seems much slower than level 4.)

      Well, been scrounging up some Yttrium Ore during my free times in the Deep or set up as a /buyer overnight in the Bazaar. Came up with almost 3 stacks (58) of ore. So I head down to Ak’Anon to make the bronze bar needed. However, after 3 failures, I ended up losing 11 ore. (Gotta hate failing 2 bulk combines, although I did salvage 1 ore each time.) No I am ready to do my thing (note: All combines being done in Ak’anon as opposed to Guild Hall):

      272 – 273: (19 combines, 19s, 0f)
      273 – 274: (13 combines, 10s, 3f)
      274 – 275: (5 combines so far, 5s, 0f)

      Another nice little run, although I hated to lose those ores when converting them. Maybe I won’t use the bulk method anymore. This run gave me a skill-up every 10.6 combines.

      Like I said above, this time I did all these combines in Ak’anon. Usually, I do all my combines in guild hall. However, I came across a thread in the Artisan’s Way on the official EQ forums that stated there may be some sort of bug with trophy evolution in instanced zones. So, before today, it took 122 successful combines to evolve my trophy 13%, all combined in guild hall. That is almost 1% every 10 combines. Today, it took 40 successful combines to evolve to 18%. That is about 1% every 8 combines. Not really much of a difference as the sample size is somewhat small.

      However, back in my journeyman day’s, it took about 5 to 6 combines to evolve 1%, so there seems that there may be difference as you level your trophy.

      Oh well, enough about that, as I need to get back to farming Yttrium.

        From your posted numbers you had 50 successes and 5% that's still 1% / 10 successes, so that is on track. Tracking the exact numbers definitely helps with figuring things out.

        Each level of the trophies can / are different. In general the lower end trophies take fewer combines to evolve and (also a generalization) the rank 5 is typically close to rank 6 in terms of combines required. I have not tested all trophies yet, so my experience is based on the JC , brewing and research trophies. I also have a 300 in fletching, but as a Karana Ranger I was able to push through cultural arrows and I did not track the level 5 progress.

          Just finished "Fletcher's Arrow" (in the GH btw) and observed mostly 5 successful combines per % with an occassional 4 per...

          It had dinged 6/7 at 297 skill... 7/7 after a definite 400 combines plus the odds left after dinging 300 which I think was 3 or 4 stacks but I wasn't really keeping track. The combines are just sunk pp from farming plat drops in the hole (and plat from friends that really want a master artisan in the guild... bless you!) which makes me tend to just kiss the pp goodbye and ignore how much (or little) it got me as much as possible.

          Observed a similar rate on my shammy when doing the alchemist's trophy (in PoK). Tends to lead me to believe you won't have to sink as much as you thought into evolving your tinker's trophy to 7/7. But certainly don't expect it to ding 6/7 much before 300.
