    Well, did 1 tinkering combine this weekend:

    214 Tinkering skill (224 w/Geerlok):
    Geerlok Automated Hammer (215 Triv) - s

    note: s = success; f=failure

    Haha. Made 1 smithing geerlok because I spent the weekend working my smithing so that I can do the DoN tinkering after a lot people suggested that as a better skill-up path. I currently worked up to 162 in smithing, and am gathering the indgrediants to go the Enchanted Velium Bits skill up route to get to at least 180ish. Just got to make a ton of Celestial Essenses and get a few more velium weapons to melt down. Once I get smithing to 180, I'll start making some tinkering combines and working in Skyfire to get all the kills needed to get the DoN molds.

    I find the most difficult think with getting tradeskills done is turning down all the invites I get to group or raid when I am on, as usually (especially weeknights) I am only on anywhere from 2 - 4 hours an evening. Tough to choose between tradeskilling or adventuring. Oh well.

      you don't need the master level DON book for armor, just for augments. which i don't think you can tinker anyway. so unless you're after the master level augments for some other reason, you can leave the skyfire drakes alone =)

        WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT. I thought I needed to do them in order to get the molds from Vidi. That will have saved me some time then =)

          Silly gnomes, always preoccupied with one contraption or another, not listening to what others are saying. (I told you that 10 posts back)
          But do get the darkhollow seal task from Vidi, that way if you ever come across a large geode in DoD, you can be prepared to make the seals (even if you need some more skill ups before you are ready to try them).

            Alright. I've got my Smithing up to 171 and start farming some Ytrium to do some of the DoN tinkering =)

            Well, got 4 skill ups in about 30 combines or so which is pretty good I would say. Running low on Coiled Springs after the run, so will have to hit the farming scene in PoI. May also hit Gunthak and farm some items there as well as was suggested a while ago. Until next time (hopefully tomorrow), be kind to gnomes =)

              After the holiday, I was able to get in a few combines.

              Today, made a little run in tinkering. I ended my last running with 17 successful combines without a skill-up after dinging 218.

              Here we go:

              218 Tinkering skill (228 w/Geerlok):

              So, made I nice little run, getting 2 skill-up on 20 combines. Also, was paid 1k pp for the Alchemy Geerlok, which was nice. Gotta love when you get a tell out of the blue asking if you can tinker =)

              I was able to get the drops need for the DoN Culteral Book, so will be able to work that path as soon as I get some Yittrium =)

                I'd definitely have to suggest more Gunthak farming .. esp for a wizard. You could AE the whole beach in one shot, lol.

                Those geerloks are 222, 227, 232, and 236 trivials, and I always found the drops in Gunthak more common overall than coiled springs.

                  I would suggest doing what I did, my Tinkering is curerntly at level 282.

                  Skip all that geerlok stuff and go right to elemental bow cams (trivial 282).

                  The ore for the cams is easily farmable (especially in PoFire) then the worst part is the Jar of Clockwork Grease (make friends with a druid/ranger that has time on their hands).

                  282 is where I am right now, as I've made about 10 aaaa's (with NO skill ups on the subs)

                  Remember Salvage 3 is your friend.

                      Assuming, of course, you have PoFire access yourself or know someone who can supply you with ore .. and an endless flow of clockwork grease.

                      With geerloks, you can do it all on your own time without depending on others being around to get your supplies. At least til they triv out.

                        OMg !! Molten bow cams suck . What gives do these things not give skill ups ? Other day 213 combines 1 skill up today 96 combines 0 skill ups i will never move past 250 . on the combines close total faile maybe 15 . and only 1 skill up on close to 300 combines omg i hate soe .

                          That's just the RNG at work. It took me roughly 730 combines of Molten Bow Cams to go from 238 tinkering to 282 tinkering. After 275, it really started to slow down for me. I'd wager the push from 275 to 282 took around 300 combines, as each point took over 40 combines with some being upwards of 90.

                            I had a run of 34 molten bow cams and 98 master sleeves. I got 3 skillups from the cams and another 6 from the sleeves. Weird.

                            Then I tried 1 holepoker and got a skillup from that, my only success in 3 attempts. Ever since, I've not gotten a skillup even after making 5 AAAA's, final and subcombines. I must say though, that the success rate has been acceptable on the subcombines with 289 modded skill. I won't be trying another holepoker until I break 300, though. Getting it right the first time must've just been pure luck.

                              You made 213 molten cams in 1 day? That's a ton of subcombines! 40 molten cams is a pita due to stackign and subcombines! My 4 skillups in 6 combines in the last page were all on molten cams btw. Typically I'll go 20 or so without a skillup.

                                Alright. Let’s get this thread back on the tracks here. It has been almost a month in between combines due to a technical issue with my PC that I seem to have resolved. So, I plan to get more combines in regularly.

                                Last night I was able to get in 32 combines, with 4 skill ups. Boy do I love getting skill ups

                                Here we go:

                                220 Tinkering skill (231 w/Geerlok):

                                That ends my ability to use Collapsed Spit as a skill-up path. Was thinking it would take about 10 to get that last skill up with these, so ended up having some left over skewers that I just littered on the guild hall floor.

                                So, on the recommendation of Wymp, went directly to the Geerloks Clockwork Contraption instead of my plan of doing Collapsed Toolboxes first. I had about 17 or so Waterlogged Riggings laying around.

                                Well, not a bad 15 minutes. The Durable Cutting Blades cost me about 850pp, but is such a simple combine that it is worth it for me. Sold all the Geerloks back at 9pp so after buying the Contraption Part in Gunthak Lighthouse, got about 100pp of that back.
