The erudite necro is for a froglok paladin (I think) quest, and a fairly new addition to the zone (and not on the cycle/either cycle/any cycle).
Named madman (drops a Rune of Tempest - but not the spell research version) is for a Jaggedpine Quest, and likewise not on a cycle.

There's also a triggered spawn at the wiz pyramid (a bunch of dark elves and trolls) that sometimes ends up in the desert. They're also not on any cycle.

The dark elf spider-hunter is new as of this patch, and I am going to investigate further at some point.
Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.
Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

Not wanting to blow my cover (because another Erudite tailor is here on my server...Eeek!), but I have been very successful on making Robes of Tempest (and selling them) at a skill level of 212. I have been making them since 209 and only failed 3 (have given away 5 and sold 5). Additionally, I have been marginally successful (until trying to make Kiztent some armor) on making the blue diamond cultural, but I have not made any to put on a vendor. I have had terrible luck with 1 swatch combines, but done well on 3 swatch combines. On Stormhammer, I got more than 2 stacks of blue diamonds off of 2 vendors (yeah, 25 from one and 26 from another), so they are not a problem for me. In that light, Adetia is exactly correct that the Steelweave armor is a *very* valid skillup path. I know this because I have 4 stacks of strands of ether unused because I was trying so hard to make some armor for my friends (Kiztent included) that I skilled up to 212 and did not get to use the ether. Oh well, will just move it to my halfling druid.

So, if BDs are abundant on your server, I recommend the BD armor from 212+. It is cheap (lg HQ ore, gold thread and BDs are the only real costs), has a pretty good success rate (I was about 40% until a recent run) and still has a market. If you are feeling more froggy (and are not on Stormhammer), I recommend the Robe of Tempests as well. I have vendor mined several, they drop in ChardokB about as often as bone chips, and a druid killing pandas (though I did it as a wizzie because I found a high traffic area...need to get loc) for bamboo shoots has really not been all that bad. Gian Yiang has dropped 1 shoot in 2 kills. Mature Pandas have had the best drop rate for me, but I am sure that is variable (I kill them all).

GL in your tailoring...and gimmah your Runes of Tempest if you are on SH.

          Reconsidering

After having done some thought and reading some of your comments about cultural as a skill-up option, I believe I have reconsidered the Steelweave as an option once I skill beyond 212 (which is the stopping point I have made for myself with regard to solstice robes).

Heck 200-400 seems to be the common selling price on our server for blue diamonds and so long as the end product sells for an amount at least equivalent to that, I'll be happy; hell, I might even be able to make some money from what I am seeing on D.R.

Also, this opinion is based on the fact that rockhopper hides are equally if not more expensive and are in more limited supply. I refuse to farm them, so I have not even considered this an option. Until recenly reconsidering, I was going to do wyvern armor for my final 36 points from 214 to 250.

Thanks for the help and all the comments in response to my thread.

As a side note, I was able to achieve 180 last night off of loy ribbons and have enough of the foraged items remaining to get to 187; the rng was not very nice to me yesterday evening towards the end (20+ combines w/o a skill up), so I decided I would discontinue my remaining ribbon combines till this evening. However, I'll just keep plugging away once I am able to get together with my chanter friend so he can make me some chains.

          Later all,
