okay, i'll dispute the claim that one can get 3 stacks in 3 hours. i went to CS tonight for a little over an hour and got 7 othmir furs from keeping 2 of 3 camps cleared in that time (the central and northern camps).

also, the warriors, at least, DO assist once you get to threateningly or worse faction (i'm a lvl 70 cleric).

admittedly, as a cleric, i can't farm as efficiently as some classes. i'm pretty despondent, though, about my prospects for tailoring (which is a tradeskill i didn't want to take up, but grew to really enjoy). 4 combines-worth of ingredients in an hour (or, worse, 2 combines-worth for the cloaks) is just AWful. from my current tailoring skill of 255, using the old skill-up averages of 20 combines per skill-up, i'd need 7 stacks of othmir caps, then 6 stacks of othmir moccasins, then 27 stacks of othmir cloaks. that's 7 x 2 x 20 + 6 x 3 x 20 + 27 x 4 x 20 = 2800 othmir furs. at 8 per hour, it should take me 350 hours to farm up enough othmir fur to get to just 295. given that the average number of combines per skill-up has just gone up for skills 250+, i'd imagine i could need 3500 othmir furs, gained in 437 hours. that many hours boggles the mind; i would do nothing for the next month, solid, except farm othmir furs .

i admit my one hour in CS may not have been an average or good drop rate for furs. i'm just really disheartened by the state of tailoring (especially as a high elf, since i have no viable cultural recourse).

I may have been exaggerating, but not by much. 15 per hour may be more accurate. There were plenty of times where I farmed for 5-6 hours and walked away with close to 100 tho.

How close do you get when pulling, and are you pulling over other othmir when you get adds? I always agro'd from a ways off and never pulled over other mobs-- only one to ever assist was the Chief. My toons are level 70 tho, maybe that affected it.

I only spent 3 weeks farming, granted sometimes 10+ hours per day...started with 250 skill.

      Good Luck!

They don't assist at 68 except for chief at max KoS. They will however aggro you based on your distance from them. So pull from a distance. If you are a class with an ability to insta invis or such you can still sell to the merchants if you time it right. Target, hit u and insta invis at same time.

They won't even assist if you pull over other mobs at that lvl. Just prox aggro is all.

Cant comment on pull agro. I run into the center of each camp and just mow them down. Proximity pulling the camp, I like it that way since none except the last one flees and this allows me to loot all the corpses faster.

Actually, I believe that it is your Dragons of Norrath spell that adds a buff to yourself that when you are hit has a chance to proc back damage a mobs. The damage itself was rather substantial from what I have been hearing from others, in the 550 range. The spell is along the lines of the Leopard proc from Shamans.

Bare in mind, it has a chance to proc, similar rate to the hammer, for every time you are hit. Easiest way to solo the otters... pull a bunch with that buff up and just keep HoT'ing yourself to keep your health solid. More effective than quad kiting.

depend on gears, an EPs lvl cleric should have no problems pulling the whole SS or SG camps at once. Having a horse help a lot here, as pushing become minimal.

Others, killing 4 - 5 otters at time should not be a difficulty.

I started farming this tonight at Amiable faction. After killing several I was still amiable. Then I killed the King and was immediately Scowled at by the others. Pulling is much easier now

oh, yes, i'm doing exactly this. most or all of my damage comes from that new ward spell.

it's embarrassing to get killed by greenies, though, and those otters sure do interrupt my spellcasting a lot, even for my fastest 2.3 second heal.... about 4 at a time is all i can handle and still sneak in some heals on myself.

in about 3.5 hours of keeping 2 of the 3 otter camps cleared, i've netted 17 furs.
