okay, i'll dispute the claim that one can get 3 stacks in 3 hours. i went to CS tonight for a little over an hour and got 7 othmir furs from keeping 2 of 3 camps cleared in that time (the central and northern camps).
also, the warriors, at least, DO assist once you get to threateningly or worse faction (i'm a lvl 70 cleric).
admittedly, as a cleric, i can't farm as efficiently as some classes. i'm pretty despondent, though, about my prospects for tailoring (which is a tradeskill i didn't want to take up, but grew to really enjoy). 4 combines-worth of ingredients in an hour (or, worse, 2 combines-worth for the cloaks) is just AWful. from my current tailoring skill of 255, using the old skill-up averages of 20 combines per skill-up, i'd need 7 stacks of othmir caps, then 6 stacks of othmir moccasins, then 27 stacks of othmir cloaks. that's 7 x 2 x 20 + 6 x 3 x 20 + 27 x 4 x 20 = 2800 othmir furs. at 8 per hour, it should take me 350 hours to farm up enough othmir fur to get to just 295. given that the average number of combines per skill-up has just gone up for skills 250+, i'd imagine i could need 3500 othmir furs, gained in 437 hours. that many hours boggles the mind; i would do nothing for the next month, solid, except farm othmir furs
.
i admit my one hour in CS may not have been an average or good drop rate for furs. i'm just really disheartened by the state of tailoring (especially as a high elf, since i have no viable cultural recourse).
