Well my experience was a little different than you all's I guess. My initial reaction is that this was a bad change. Remember I said INITIAL reaction. I think in the LONG run this is going to be a positive thing. For now though, at least on Terris Thule, farming Shadowscream components in Hollowshade is going to be all but impossible. I entered the zone last night, and was there was one other person in the zone. She was farming the wolves. Very shortly after that the grimlings took back their islands and She left the zone leaving me alone. I proceeded to help the bears take the islands as I already have 300 or so Shrieking substances banked. Within 5 minutes there were half a dozen other folks in the zone who were there to see the war through to its end so they could farm the prince. After 20 minutes of trying to explain to them that I needed the bears right where I had them on the islands and being told to pretty much pack sand that they were going to keep the war going all night I left.

This is a case of someone overrunning a camp I know. But the war is pretty difficult to control now with no defenders to fend off attacks, and with people wanting to play with the zone to farm the war for minor items. Eventually when people finally realize that they are in fact MINOR items they are getting from the war they will leave the zone alone as before and the Blacksmiths will once again control it at will. For the time being however I'm going to be using Tae Ew as my skill up path. I can put together 60-100 attempts a week of that fairly easily as I'm getting a lot of help from the guild to gather components since I'm outfitting shields, and Tunics at no cost to the guild.

This is not cool. It takes some effort and work to get things set the way I'd like them, and it to be dashed by someone with an outside agenda is not cool.
LOL, I guess you and the person resetting the zone on you are the only people on your server.
Maybe when he's not logged on you can have the zone to yourself

I think it's pretty funny how you run into these types of people who think that because they were in the zone first, they have dibs on everything in the zone. Their are others that need stuff too.

And you do realize that there are a bunch of dork griefers in our world who's sole purpose in life is to mess with people, and that some of these people do play EQ right?

Maybe the guy was doing it just to mess with him? Ever consider that? Hmm? I've seen people doing similar things before. Many many times. Deliberately interferring with someone elses camp or quest, simply because they can.

Now, maybe this other guy was also trying to run the war to get something going the way he wanted. If that's the case, then it's up to the two of them to come up with some kind of solution, or for one of them to leave.

*shrug* I don't have a good opinion of the human race in general, and you can't deny that there's quite a few degenerates living in EQ.

I woudn't say that a lot of degenerates playing EQ. I would say there are a lot of children who play EQ. Its generally the children who play that way. The adults who play tend to be far more considerate of the other players.

But this is NOT always the case in fact sometimes its the complete oposite and the adult is playing the role of the child and vice versa.

If you're farming in Hollowshade, and you don't want the war to change, then you just need to prevent the whole zone being taken over by 1 mob.

Farming the islands, it's easy, just listen for when one of the other sides attacks and kill it's attackers.

If your side already has 2 of the camps, then you have to listen out for when they attack the 3rd camp, and again kill the attackers.

At least on Xev we are having a hard time with Wolves. They just don't seem to attack and it seems very very tough to run the war in their favor. Anyone else notice this?

                  Wolves

I have yet to figure out why folks insist on wolves being up here. There is another location to farm teh Shrieking that has better drop rates. There is NO feasible location other than Hollowshade to get the wailing. And no, a 4 spawn 7 minute camp is not feasible.

I went back out to Hollowshade last night and am now convinced that its a huge improvement. I just had bad luck the night before with some moron screwing with me.

I die every single time I try to farm in TM...I don't die at all when I farm in HM. That's why I go there.

You can get Wailing in Paludal, for many people the wolves in Tenebrous Mountains are to tough, and the drop rate in TM is far lower than HM.

Getting wailing in Paludal is ridiculously, preposterously slow. Not to mention often camped. Wailing is fairly rapidly dropped in Hollowshade. The only reason not to get wailing in Hollowshade is simply if you can't because of your level, or if the war isn't set properly for you to do son in Hollowshade, or if someone is already farming Hollowshade and you don't want to run over the top of them.

By the way, I'm still of the school that believes that first come should be first served. Running around like a jerk over someone's camp just because you can is definitely for the kiddies.

And, though a lot of people wouldn't like to admit it, there are a lot of adults who play EQ who basically act like and have the maturity of kids. You probaby meet these guys every day and might even be one. Chances are good, actually, if you're playing EQ. Very good.
