  • Level 75 and 80 Aug Quests

    Ngreth,

For the level 75 and 80 cultural armor augs coming out with SoF -

    - is there going to be a separate quest for the level 75 aug patterns, or will they use the same patterns as the level 70 augs (please, pretty pretty please?) or the same patterns as the level 80 augs?

    - for the level 80 aug quest...I understand that the loam for those will only drop from a few zones in SOF, and will essentially require folks who are DP+ raid-geared to acquire. Will the aug quest require the same zones, or will they be a bit more 'forgiving' (Would be nice if folks who can buy the loam in bazaar can make the augs .)

If you can't tell us, understand...just curious.

FIRST as I have said before, the drops are not in zones that require you to actually be DP+ raid geared, it requires you to gain gear from GROUP content SoF that will get you to about the equivalent of DP raid gear level. There is some difference there, because the mods and focus will not be as high as the DP gear, but that it will be sufficient to hunt with an appropriate danger level.

But basically the drops for the armor are in the T3+ zones (though it does drop rather rarely in other zones... about 1/10th of the drop rate that it drops in T3 zones)

The 80 quest is in T1 zones. (maybe T2? But I think just T1)

    These tiers are within SoF.

The only thing that makes me sad is knowing that I'll be stabbing people constantly to get the quests done on day 1 so I can make the symbols on day 2 lol.

Will the symbol book quests (assuming kill X, get Y impressions) for both the level 75 and 80 be skill locked?

Will we be able to get the level 80 symbol quest so that while we are skilling up on that level of content, we can get the impressions as well?

Will a level 75 character be able to get the level 80 symbol task?

Understand if this could be beta NDA protected and will wait for that to be lifted if it is.

          OK, so:

          - level 75 will have its own quest (presumably in SoF Tier I zones)

          - level 80 will have its own quest (also most likely in SoF Tier I zones)

Understand your differentiation on T3 requiring DP+ raid gear or SOF group gear . . . (although I'm a raider myself now, after several years of being a casual player I really appreciate inclusion of a non-raiding path for gearing up which was initially lacking in PoP/GoD/OOW compared to the recent expansions).

Can you disclose whether the SOF T2 or T3 (Tier 2/Tier 3) zones are keyed? Or is it like TSS non-raid zones, where anyone can zone in but the tiering is enforced by the ability to survive? Understand if you can't discuss with the NDA.

          Thanks,

I saw some notes posted on the druids grove about the zones. (Information was cleared by Rashere prior to being posted to ensure no NDA violations) Tier 3 and Tier 4 would be restricted by a group quest access. Tier 1 and 2 will be open. The only Tier 4 zone was the zone where Kerfyrm is and is the top end group/raid zone. The Tier 3 zone(s) were around Meldrath's mansion and the open plains with the wereorcs and undead in the hills (you can check the Lore threads on EQ site for specific names of zones/places) were the Tier 1 and 2 places.

Hope that giant robot has some good TS drops.

In addition to the new 75 and 80 symbols and 80 armor, will there be in-game books available to explain the new AAAA style boxes or will those require a quest to get the book as was the case in DoDh? (/crosses fingers for no quest).

Level locked like the old ones. 5 levels bellow. So must be 70 to do the 75 must be 75 to do the 80.

The recipe books from the vendor though are skill locked (at 300)

oh. And I saw a coder yesterday go in to fix the bug with these. You are going to have to get the skill.

There are only two keyed zones this expansion. One is T3, but there are non keyed T3. The only T4 is keyed. Both keys are groupable.

no quest. on vendor. you still will need those older books that are required for any of the sub combines as they are still required for those steps.

What's the possiblity of future (or even a revamp of these) recipes to be changed to have a generic pattern that's quested and then purchase the location specific ones? I'll be sitting at having FOUR bags full of symbol patterns. It's starting to take a huge chunk of my bank just to keep patterns.

Thanks for everything so far Ngreth, I'm much looking forward to the new quests and recipes.

                      Some possibility.

It is something I am considering post launch. It is easy for the armor since they have templates... harder for the symbols... but possible. (harder is relative here...)

I fully agree. Those patters take up valuable space. All us tradeskillers are terrible packrats.

Aye, something must be done about bank space. I still get orders for intricate and eminent augs, so need to keep those patterns. I have tailored and smithed cultural patterns. Add another two bags for exalted and sublime symbols and I'm going to have to kiss my pirate bones and pottery bit quests goodbye! Please Ngreth, have pity! The TSS tradeskill charm made the 2100 Club more attractive than it had ever been, but to actually keep our ability to make things for other players is requiring more bank space than ever!

I agree about the bank space. Between the cultural armor molds, the sacred and eminent symbols I am really hurting for bank space. Not to mention all of my TS trophies and no drop quest junk. I have already created alts to hold TS stuff that is droppable. I am considering making my own TS guild for more bank space....../ponder.

To my mind, the armor isn't very much of a problem, since all levels use the same molds/patterns. the symbol are more of the problem since every level uses a different pattern. in the past, keeping 2 levels of pattern (sacred and emminent) wasn't too horrible, but keeping 4 levels of pattern around will be horrible.

perhaps the quested book at each level, when combined to make patterns, could make 160 generic patterns of X level (that would all fit into one stack!) -- for instance, "Intricate symbol pattern". this would be used for all intricate symbols, regardless of inventory slot. then, there could be some cheap vendor-sold thing that made the aug specific to the gear slot -- for instance, a "Symbol fitting for Boots", "Symbol fitting for Helms", etc., which would make all the recipes different for different armor slots. this would make all the patterns change and the recipes change, which is probably the "hard" part. and something would need to be done with all the patterns people already have (maybe just hand them in to the home town quest giver and he returns generic ones?).
