Thanks Illona. I guess I will have to.

So much for allowing people to pick their own path of progression. ALL smiths will have to do the Shadowscream quest, whether they'd prefer an alternate skill up method or not.

Or get their trophy early enough to not do it at that step.

Sorry, you can try the guilt trip all you want. Ogre's don't feel guilty at making people do hard work.

And like other people have said, you STILL have a choice.

      Don't get the trophy.

or even go get one of the other items.

If you want this trophy, and your skill is already high, then yes, you need to do the shadowscream quest.

You have choices. You may not like any of the choices, but you can still choose among them.

There is absolutely no way I can make every person happy, and I will not be made to feel guilty because one of the vocal members of the community happens to be stubborn and dislike a particular part. I guess this overshadows getting a research trophy. Oh well. I guess the Ogre screwed up again and upset another member. What is new... Dev = can't do anything correctly. Ok. Maybe I will admit I am bitter about it. But oh well, I guess it is what you wanted so will probably make you a little happier.

        Hey,

I wasn’t trying to guilt you into anything, but I am allowed to be unhappy about it if I want to be. I may be a mod, but I do have my own personal opinions, on occasion, big guy. Sorry to have upset you, Ngreth.

I’d gladly do one of the earlier trophy quests that doesn’t require Shadowscream…but I don’t think I am able to get one of the earlier tests since my skill is 259?

        {/sigh, if my guild hadn’t decided to have a complete and utter meltdown during beta I would have been able to participate in beta and done all my grumbling then, }

I was one of the people who threw my mouse against the wall when I first read that shadowscream was required for the trophy quest. Absolutely hated the thought of spending time killing in Shadeweavers and Hollowshade. In the end, it really didn't take much time at all. The beetles never seemed to be up when I zoned in, but when they aren't up, the dark aliens are usually, so you can farm some chunks of condensed shadow to kill time. I got lucky in HS, the wolves were up in the south when I got there and the owlbears attacked shortly after I got the wolf drops I needed.

I grumbled and whined, but it wasn't that bad. I've actually spent more time trying to round up one of those **** rat livers then I spent on the shadowscream step. I still wouldn't recommend it for skilling up (I did GoD weapons, magnetic armor, acrylia armor and master cultural instead).

There's another alternative. Get your smithing skill to 300 and you won't have to deal with Shadowscream.

Edit: I realize that sounds harsh, but it is an alternative.

              Maev,

Sometimes people just have to do things they don't like. You post previous to this one did seem kinda whiney and coming from you, a pretty level headed individual. I can kinda see why the Orge got all bent up. (Even with those simple ogre feelings ) Especially since there are many ways to shorten the quest and the fact that even *I* Mr. Useless EQer himself didn't have a problem with this quest.

Plenty of stuff in EQ I don't like but have to do because others, such as yourself (not pointing fingers just saying.), feel EQ should be that way.

Since the Ogre has given his difinitive word, perhaps this thread should be closed? Doesn't make sense to keep complaining about it....
I call for the elimination of EQ levels 1-50.

                Hmm, good idea actually, thanks.

                  Mods are human too /shrug

I don't know WHY I have such an aversion to this quest, I just do. From day one that I started smithing I was determined not to do it, even if it meant my skillup path would be harder.

It isnt the farming since as a wizard I can AE the heck outta the HS war. And I've done harder quests, and plan to do more (heck I'm gonna start the BiC quest soon now that I have extra bank space, and that one is no walk in the park.)

I just dunno, lol. Irrational, isn't it? I guess everyone has their quirks.

Anyways, I will either buckle down and do this goshdarn quest (doesn't mean I have to be happy about it , though!) or I will wait till I am at 300 and do THAT test, instead.
