I don't know if it was a universal thing, but a few people on Drinal who'd exploited the price bug found that their stock had been removed from both their inventories and that of their customers. (Of course, this penalized the people who bought from them not knowing about the bug, but hopefully they're working that part out one petition at a time.)

I'm assuming this is a temporary solution. Changing the sellback price of tempers to vendors would require a full server patch, but simply removing the item from the vendor just required patching Thurg. At least that's my guess.

Hopefully they put everything back to normal after the next full patch. Are people really trying to sell tempers for crazy prices on your server though? On Veeshan I've noticed people selling like 800 tempers for 10pp apiece. While I hate to give money to people who exploited a bug, it actually ends up cheaper than it would have been buying from the vendor.

Well my thinking is that previously it was a choice, unlimited temper at 26pp per, or brew for 10pp and carpal tunnel syndrome. Myself and most people I knew opted for the more convenient purchase. People who brewed to sell in bazaar had the option of still brewing and making a profit, and selling less than the merchant charged. 10pp-26pp.

Those people who bought thousands of them, were trying to sell fast, to make quick pp. Then buy more if they can, and sell that. Very high supply, and demand for them isn't enough (at the time, people expected temper to be fixed and purchasable for 26 again)

Now, that very high supply is the ONLY supply (compared to the time required to make equivalent amounts by brewing). I expect once people realize temper is no longer available from thurg, those prices will shoot through the roof, much like LDON smithing tempers or other farmed/tradeskilled supplies are on any server.
(buying supplies for many tradeskilling costs more than the resultant item would sell for)

Currently I'm brewing some so I can do some velious tailoring skillups. to make ONE stack of velium studs I now need to brew it, and make EIGHT stacks of Celestial Essence. My poor wrist and fingers. Anybody who bakes and remembers the original recipe for Halas 10lb meat pies?

I haven't heard that they'd destroyed any inventory of temper of whomever bought for zero, but either way, there will be a big price increase, since if it were destroyed, the supply of temper would be limited to whatever brewers are able to make and sell for. Low supply, high demand = high prices.

Like I said, I hope this is a temporary fix until next patch, or they increase yields, or change the temper recipe to not require so much Essence.

Either of these would be nice options.

Yea that 4 essense per temper is annoying. Vendor is up on stromm (well at least was when i bought the spells) sat in thurg for a half hour went through 12 stacks of ingredients (212-219). Well first day I saw this recipe on the forums I bought EVERY single bit of velium in the bazaar for weeks (not much around now at all) 188-203 on velium 203-212 LDoN 213-219 velium and I have 10 stacks of sea tempers. Should end up around 228 i hope (human smith) total expenditure so far equal around 50k.

As far as I know on Drinal... there were a few people that have been found to be selling LOADS of the tempers at around 5pp a piece... most were reported or petitioned.

And the people that UNKNOWINGLY bought the cheap temper were reimbursed... as far as finding a log of someone who bought the exploited tempers WITH knowledge of their illegality... I haven't heard any cases of it yet.

I think alot of people are getting around this by putting up say 100 or less tempers and restocking after it is sold that way it would be hard to figure if the person actually made them or exploited them. You see a person with 2000 tempers for sale you know he had to exploit to get em but with 110 tempers it is not inconceivable that he might have made them. Either way this exploit is weeks old so most of the money is gone and the tempers sold. It would be very hard to track down who bought them all on every server. Took the gm's almost 2 day's just to perma kill the guy, do you think they would spend that much time doing this? I guess if you got a couple of gung ho gm's on certain servers it's a possibility but I doubt all servers have that. Wouldn't be suprised if many are sitting on their stock waiting for the smoke to clear before they hit the market. Good thing is all the tradeskilllers needing them can get them at a decent price and use them now so it's not like the GM's are gonna take away their skill ups. From what was said earlier didn't the GM's say that there was no way of telling the exploited tempers from the regular tempers? If this is the case they would have a very hard time justifying taking anyone's tempers out of their inventory.

                  Coldain Temper Combines

Im back to skilling up Smithing with this new combine. Was putting off skilling up due to the dread and laothing I have for farming.

10 stacks of Coldain Velium Temper (bought @20pp per = 4000pp)
20 stacks of Small Velium Pieces (farmed myself= freebie)
                  200 Spell:Enchant Velium (bought @ 12.5p = 2500pp)

                  200 Combines
                  7 Skill ups (198-205)
                  Percentage of Skill Up 3.5%
                  Total Cost 6500pp
                  No Skill % increasing device

                  Stats:
                  STR 205
                  WIZ 270
                  INT 210

                  NOTES:
Only 15 more skill ups to go before Trivial. By eye-ball estimation, expect 1 skill up per 20 combines (on average-sometimes you get 2 maybe 3, other times you get zero). Given that, I will need to gather up materials for approximately 300 more combines.

Edit: Corrected price of spell, corrected cost calculations

                    Edit

                    Dont want to confuse people.

                    (Skill ups/Total combines) x 100 = Percentage of Success
                    (7/200)x 100 = 3.5%

                        • I can check the new 181 trivial report tonight. I dinged points 214 and 215 yesterday, November 17th, at 12:30 PM PST. I have farmed enough velium for an additional small run today.

                          Will post my results ASAP.

edit: Dinged 216 today, 11/19/03 at 6:30 PST. Report of changed trivial is incorrect.

1st - you already posted this in another thread, no need to post it a second time

2nd - you probably forgot the Enchant Velium spell scroll and made velium bits rather than "Enchanted Velium bits", double check the recipe and try again, as you can see others HAVE received skillups today.

You probably forgot to put the spell in the forge and ended up with normal velium bits. Try again.
