Since the resulting bits are LORE, do you need to destroy any sucesses or can you just inventory the first sucess and let the system destroy sucesses? Also, if the system destroys sucesses, does that do anything wierd like prevent the check for skill up?

nope. has been recommended you keep your first to automatically kill the next one instead of taking time to kill all successes.

Actually, I had tempers already. Fortunately I filled a mule with copies of Enchant:Velium before they killed the dwarf again.

the vendor in thurgadin that sells the enchant velium scroll's has been permanently depopped on all servers atm.

Does anyone know if theres another place to buy the enchant velium spell or when they plan on bringing the mob back into the game?

he's the only one with the spell.

as a side note to these prior to 212, if you'd rathr do ldon armros, get groups in rujarkian theme. The groups i'm in are averaging a stack of gob bones per clearing. Milage may vary if you cut and run after winning naturally.

on a further digression... try a cleric, chanter, 4 ranger group in there sometime... it'll be a pretty dang fast win.

This doesn't seem to be cost effective to me. I can resell fine plate to a vendor and get most of my money back just take a hit on my fails which if you geerlok and stick close to trivials isn't much but in the best case scenario on this I would loose 12 plat every single combine success or not on this. That's if I got the tempers for free and farmed the velium which is much more rare or so it seems in cc now. the leather padding is a pain but not more so than competing with others farming velium.

That's because you don't do it when Fine Plate is available. You do it when your options aren't as nice.

You know, I think it's intended. At Chicago FF the devs said they needed plat sinks people would actually like. The 'ideas' threads often mentioned tradeskills, and specifically said costly but easy ways to skill up smithing and tailoring. And tailoring already has the ribbons as a precedent. Think about it, each attempt is at least 20 to 50 plat to an npc, excluding the cost of the velium. And a lot of the 'too much money' folk who want Aid Grimel will do it, because they have more money then time and are willing to spend it on such an easy method, thus removing money from the economy......

I agree with Serenya - they may be using tradeskills to remove some of the plat from the economy. For it to work they'd not only need a way to take it out of the economy (like the velium and smithing) but something that would get folks wanting to tradeskill - the aide gimmel earring has certainly done that at the high end, maybe the new quest will do it at the low/middle end.

If I had oodles of pp I'd buy the velium rather than farming it myself. Same with swirling shadows as a matter of fact, and wyvern hides and acrylia, and ...

it's a balancing issue. I can easily make 1k pp a hour. now i can buy say 100 lq hides for padding (@10pp each) with that 1k. I could not however farm 100 lq hides in a hour so it pay's me to buy em. Youve gotta balance the cost of buying with the loss of time and decide if farming will be cost effective.

It's always a balancing issue - you either balance pp made farming versus the cost of the tradeskillstuff farmed or you balance the cost of the tradeskill stuff against your innate sensibilites if you have tons of pp.

With velium pieces at 50pp, swirling shadows at 50pp, LDoN temper drops at 200-300 pp and silks at 30pp, both my pocket book and sensibilites made this an easy (if really really boring) choice.

Now if I could only figure out why most LDoN tempers are at 200pp and the ingredients are at 300 ....

btw: where/what do you farm for 1k/hour?

farming 1kp/hour isnt' taht hard. as for the cost of supplies i'll be glad when the LDoN tempers come down to what they should be...20p at most. i mine the LDoN camps and jsut buy from the emrchants there...or at least i did until i found out about the enchanted bits. i do think there needs to be at least 2 merchants in every zone that have rare sales....i.e. 2 merchants in thurgadin should sell enchat velium and cvt. i think someone mentioned that the velium smithy hammer was only on the dead guy so maybe put that on another smithing vendor

I don't know if these enchant velium bit go to be changed or not, but for me is a good think and i plan to use as long as i can.

Vah Shir was the way i plan to use before velium bit was discover. And i return to this when bits became trivial. But farming 3 thinks is long ...
LDoN, on my server (Sebilis European) is difficult to find the tempers, and on all adventure i do i only find 10 tempers ..., nothing on merchants.

In like 4 hours camping CC, i do like 8 stacks of small piece of velium, around 2kpp in selling minor items to merchants.

I buy velium temper and spell for 27pp and 12pp.
At final for 1200pp (3200-2000) i get 80 combine for 6 skill up
Less than 20pp a combine is not a bad price
