You can select the "learn a skill" link from the menu of eqtraders.com and select "Research". Or use this direct link:

    http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/ar...r=080105000000

Its a little out of date, but the largest missing piece is a listing of stationery type per level which can be found here:

Personally I love the new system. Definately one of the most rewarding tradeskills IMO.

Part of the problem people ran into is the discussions about this were so long ago. Ngreth actually went as far as giving us all the new recipes for the sub 61 spells way back in May. They are listed here btw, on the fourth tab "Spells Step 1". It's not the easiest format to use (items listed as ID# rather than name).
The other problem is there are fewer researchers than smiths/tailors, so the threads did not get as much activity. And of course the cultural changes were announced around the same time, so the research changes were overshadowed.

I am unsettled. I hate losing recipes I had learned and now have to re-learn. I also hate the fact many of the new style research you have to be pretty much empty before getting the recipe items on and ready to start combining.

I am at the point now of determining if tradeskills are really worth it. I just worked JC up to 196 on my enchnater and now will have to learn a whole new way. /sigh

          Bobaten;

Thank you for posting this -- it would be exactly what I wanted IF THE RECIPES WERE LABELED CORRECTLY!! Cross referencing the ID numbers wasn't that hard, but when you make the combines, they come up as something else! Dark Lich, for instance, turns out to be Aegis! Argh! I tried a second recipe, too, and that came up different. (Don't remember which one right now.)

I see that some of the recipes are starting to show up on EQ Traders now, but having this spreadsheet is awesome -- don't suppose you have a spreadsheet with the correctly labeled recipes?

Also remember that this was the first draft at these recipes. I dont believe anyone updated any of them after beta when quite a few of them were changed / corrected.

Most if not all of the level 1-44 recipes have been found and are in the SoF database submission area.

A few of the spells return the wrong one though, they should return a spell that's usable by different classes but return a spell instead that's only usable by one class.
300 in baking, brewing, pottery, jewelcraft, smithing, tailoring and fletching. 300 poison making. 300 alchemy. 300 research. 300 tinkering. 3300 total!! Luclin server.

Those definitely look like bugs; have you reported them as such?

The Identify spell you mentioned in the SoF thread, for instance: Alla's lists 4 different Identify spell scrolls, one of which is NEC/WIZ/MAG/ENC and the other three are for single classes from the same set. It seems likely when the new recipe was added the wrong "Spell: Identify" item ID# got looked up for the result.

Same applies to the other spells, Ngreth is aware of it.

                    New Research System for Non-Spells

With all of the changes, will Researches also be able to create/produce Tomes?

I had originally thought that was what the binding powder was for, until I spent the day reading till my brain quit....

Any input for future methods of Tome Research?

                    Brooh

Aye, the option was already there, true.

However, on The Combine no one had the Corathus option for a while. So, like old on servers, those interested in research were vendor-diving or doing practice runes (which is what i did, then did random spells with words to 208, then quit until DoD was unlocked). Most of the people i talked to said they had no interest in spell research because the practice runes were a pain in the neck, the runes and words were too hard to come across, and parchment solutions were too expensive (i easily blew 100k+ in a night trying to triv the runic parch solutions). We already know its going to make it more simple, thats the whole point. Since the new changes were announced there has been more talk of interest in this tradeskill. This change probably makes less difference on the regular servers where the economy and spell availability, as well as number of 200+ researchers, is different.

My point was that the new system for sub-61 seems more affordable and much less time consuming than was previously available on my server in the relatively short time its been open. Whether thats a good or bad thing is a totally different matter. It's possible too that i am completely misunderstanding the new system because i've never worked with the hides/papyrus that i'm guessing are used for these combines. Maybe its more expensive than i think it is (i hope so! )

And yeah, with this change certain rare spells will no longer be "rare", another sign of the new system being easier to use and probably leading to more skillups and more highly skilled researchers. That's the nature of the change.
