Thanks for the confirmation Ngreth. Looks like I will continue to make a lot of spells before the release next week. Will the spell scrolls I make still be able to be scribed after the changes go live next week? I have 5 Remove Greater Curses I made last night that I don't want to go to waste.

New stuff recipes make exactly the same result item.

I understand why its being changed, and certainly this will free up about 10 bags full of random research materials, but this change also makes me kinda sad.

I've worked hard to be one of the top researchers on my server, and as a result of my word farming and such I've usually got spells for sale that no one else has (which helps fund further tradeskilling! ). It seems as if the new system will make it very easy for pretty much anyone to skill up, and if any class can make any other class's spells, then spells like Funeral Pyre or KEI that are class-specific combines now are going to become a lot more common in bazaar. I'm afraid everyone will be selling 10 copies. That's good if you're looking for spells, but if you're trying to sell spells and make money back on combines, I'm afraid what's going to happen is the same thing that's happened with everything else: the cost of making the item is at least twice the amount the item will sell to a player for (which makes it hard to fund further attempts).

We'll see! In any case it will clear up bank space!

I take it that now remove greater curse will no longer be a rare spell. If so some sucker bought out all 6 of my remove greater curses and then tried to triple the price. He will get a big surprise tomorrow when they become common and he can't unload them.

It should be less rare, for sure, but common? I've been collecting level 54 stationery for over a month in anticipation of this, but have gathered only 8.

On the other hand, I think I heard that stationery for level 1-60 spells will be dropping in more areas now, not just in TSS, so that should help the supply.

The level 60 stationery hasn't been quite as hard to find, so I expect Divine Intervention to become lots cheaper as well.

Wow, I had not seen this coming at all till now.

I have one toon with NOTHING but pages, words and runes for guild members. This could clear up every bag she owns just about. But what to keep , what to toss? Guess I'll have to keep watch.

I am not clearing the old drops yet. It is just too time consuming at this time. And I have not made 100% decision on disabling the old rune/word/page/etc recipies imidiately. but they will be going.

Please clean up the DON forage tables why you're at it too please, unless I missed that post too. bah.

Research changes

After doing 2 feedbacks ingame, I decided to check the boards and now, boy, do I feel silly. I had NO idea the changes were coming to research. Granted, having more room in the bank will be exceptional...but the classes will lose their "individuality" for only collecting each item that was essential for their class research. The runes et al still carry the "can be used in tradeskills" when inspected on them..so of course I tried a combine to no avail and will probably be selling them all off.
Tis a sad day seeing this change

Since I am the ONLY researcher for my class selling research-only spells at the Bazaar 7 days a week in my server, let me tell you, the free space in the bank is not only being left by Words... it now will be left by pp too

Still trying to figure out how to research the 1-60 research-only spells.

I missed the post where Ngreth decided to disable the old spell recipes. Imagine my surprise when I went to make an "Invoke Death" spell.

Heh, at least my collection of Words, Runes, Grimories, Compendiums and the like were bought vendor diving. Let's see, that will clear 12 bags of runes, 14 bags of words and 13 bags of Yaeths and other ingredients.

The Concordance of Research also appears to be useless now. I can't open it as a tradeskill container. Does that mean an end to all the Training Runes?

I'll need to be careful. My LoY robes have still been selling (and can be used for tailoring skill by some of my alts). I need to make sure I don't sell any of those ingredients. My Warlock's Book of Binding still remembers how to make the Swatches.

Um... this is not good. I have items in my combine containers and no empty slots on that character. How am I going to get those items back?

On another note, I must say that this change must be one of the worst things that has happened to tradeskills lately. The changes to the smithing/tailoring recipes we heard about for months and months. I like the new system conceptually but as a person who didn't see anything up and coming about the change I am upset about the lack of advanced warning that was given. Even scrolling back in this post I see that the disabling of the old system was just decided a few days before the launch.
