They still open as containers (a.k.a. experiment mode). They jsut cannot open in the tradeskill mode (with recipe lists, trivials etc...).

I don't make every post here.

My Primary place to post is on the official EQ Artisan's Way Forums... where there has been a post about it for longer than a month.

        Reward.

        Greetings Ngreth Thergn!
Is it going to be any kind of reward (sorry about my English, not sure how to say "compensación") for all of us who will lost large amount of pp because of every class making every single spell?
I mean, new Tradeskills Quest for each class, anything that will justify the time and pp xpent in Spell Research?
You have become better at Choosing Signatures! (298)

It's not "every class", it the 4 classes who do research. And I doubt you'll need to worry too much about the level 1-60 range of spells it covers anyway (The only spells I make for sale are 69,70 and 65 GoD spells.)

As soon as you learn the new recipe, you can continue selling as before.

Its true that this new change affects only 1-60 spells, but i think what people are saying is that since skilling up to make the 61+ spells will be so much easier now, in a way it affects peoples ability to sell those too.

I play on The Combine and there really are not many researchers up over 200 or 210ish (according to the leaderboards, anyway). I expect this new system will change that by quite a bit. So it does affect the selling of higher lvl spells

              Goody...

              WTF, this is Alchemy FU mark 2.0 with less warning... I really don';t understand WHY the need to {make this change?}
              ...
I follow these boards and the EQtraders as a whole, and to some extent the "Official EQ site" though that is more winers and cry babies then anything... so i am now wondering HOW it is I missed sucha HUGE change, and WHY it is there is neither any form of exchange for these 'used to be' precious resources AND WHY it is the OLD system NEEDS to be completely disabled?!?
              ...
maybee a follow up with a Dump post.
              Grrr.
not happy tradeskiller of too much time and energy apparently.

                New research?

Lemme guess, the new supplies needed to make ALL the old spells will ONLY be avail IF you have the new expansion?
                /grumble
Lots of reading to do to figure out what's next.

                  Nope.

You can find them in Corathus (DoD), Relic (PoR), Crescent Reach (TSS).

And in the future... PoK (soon, probably next patch which will be next week)

Drops are global loot so anywhere in the world.

                    By the By...

This system has been around for two years, and I have made many rumbling in those two years about a total conversion.

I had the same reaction too. We heard about the cultural armor changes in detail, with posts and updates and everything. Let's look at the posts by Ngreth about that:
Upcoming Cultural Changes - Next Full Patch (Estimated End of September)

Now the post about the spell research:
"Old" Spell research going the way of the Dodo bird

To be honest, I thought the latter was a complaint thread started by someone, not about a major shift in a tradeskill system. The former is a much better way to make me notice something and pay attention.

                          No room for both ways?

I may look stupid, since I don't quite understand plenty of stuff.
But really, why dissable old way to research? Why I looted DOZENS of Runes and Words yesterday?
But well, still looking to read or find out about the good things about new spell research system for 1-60 spells. At least the good news for all of us who used to research that way, and actually make good profit out of it.

By the way, still haven't sold a single spell after the release of new expansion

I don't see why anyone thinks this change will lead to more people levelling up spell research. You already could use the new-style recipes for inks, cleaning solutions, etc., to level all the way to 243. Sure, it means that more of those inks and whatnot will be useful for making spells along the way, but the path was already there and hasn't changed. That is, you mostly do NOT want to use actual spells for your skillups until you reach 243, after which there's pretty much no other path. (Yeah, clay for the charm, whee.)

All this change does is make certain spells less insanely rare, because you're no longer waiting for the rare word/rune/page to drop in a zone nobody ever visits any more.

As for more classes being able to make the spells, /applaud!! It means that my wizard, having put in the effort to learn spell research, can now make spells for enc/nec/mag as well. And yeah, there are more people who can make wizard spells, but I still call it a good exchange.

But not everywhere, right? (Sort of the distinction between "anyone can cook" and "everyone can cook", if you've seen Ratatouille.)

That is, the spell scrolls and papyrus and parchment drops now fall from mobs in more parts of the world, but is it that every level-appropriate mob has a small chance of dropping those components, or is it just that there are various selected new mobs scattered around the world who now can drop them, and it's up to us to find out which mobs those are?

(I spent some time in Droga, for instance, hoping to find some level 50-55 stationery, but none showed up.)

Edit: I just checked various threads on the SOE forums, and spotted one where Ngreth mentioned a coding boo-boo that's keeping these drops from showing up as intended. Said it would likely be patched early next week.

So how does one go about finding the new recipes, if they're not listed on any website yet? I'm sure that EQ Traders will *eventually* list these new spell recipes, but I would really like to start TONIGHT. How does one go about getting them?
