The SOF Tradeskill Quest!

I finally finished it and I want to thank Ngreth for the fun journey through SoF.

On a side note, Ngreth, I have a second toon that is stuck on the Fletching Task. In my excitement to get done, I unshrouded the 3 boxes and placed them successfully on the alter and got the recipe, mold and gem. Went and actually made an arrow before it dawned on me that my task hadn't advanced. It was still back on getting the last page for the book.

After pounding my head on the desk a few times, I went and got the last page, finished the Book of Shadows. Now Im stuck on the task to do what the book says. I have tried to unshroud several boxes but they disintegrate. I've tried boxes from each zone exactly at midnight.

Ngreth, is there a hidden flag that once you scribe the recipe, you can not unshroud any further boxes? I've petitioned ingame and was told it was elevated to QA. Appreciate if you know of a solution to my self induced stuckage.. Thanks

yup. there is a flag and you are stuck :/ CS has been given the instructions to reset that flag. I will look into seeing if I can add something to the "unshroud" to not allow you to do it if you have not finished the book yet.

I have to laugh reading through some of this thread. My guild was raiding late one evening, quite late for an east coast person. We needed one more cleric at least, because we we're a little light on healing to finish the event. Suddenly a cleric logs in! I hurried and sent him a tell to get his erm... behind... to the raid asap!

He replies "sure, but I have to wait til midnight so I can finish a quest, or I'll get blown up and die" I laughed and told him something along the lines of "very cute, now get your <rump> here!"

I thought he was just being a smarty pants and teasing me, I didn't realize that he actually risked being blown up in the game. lol!

Zolina's walk-thru of the fletching part worked like a charm. Thanks. Since I finally got back around to working on this quest.

I was really worried about the Fletching stage but after reading the walk-through a few hundred times and doing rehearsals as I waited for the right times, lol, it went off without a hitch.

Very exciting, bordering on frustratingly fun quest. Definately follows the tradeskilling traditions, lol.

Just did Fletching part for the second time. Somehow my counting shadows book got lost and petition showed I did not have it so had to redo the whole quest again..got all my stuff togetehr went to the alter..waited till 12am and hit combine withe 1 box and celestial essence...i got emte in yellow the box disintigrates in your hands..you must have done something incorrect

Guess I need to see what box I am missing and try again. Any idea what I did wrong?

depends how far you went the first time you lost the book. There is a flag on your character. It gets reset in some cases, but not if you have "completed" the box opening series. CS has instructions how to reset that flag.

Someone said maybe the fog was in when I attempted this time and it was clear the first time. I didn't take that into consideration. I know that I was facing North for the first shroud removal which I did this time too but maybe I wasn't close enough to the alter.

The only thing I was lacking the last time was give Eron the copy of Counting Shadows book. I could not do the final combine until then so I just had to restart. Of course now I have 3 copies of the book. One I remade but did not get an update for, one the Gm gave me back AFTER I restarted the quest and the third one that I just remade after having restarted the quest. Have narrowed it down to HoS/Loping plains box no so I'm waiting for my regular group to log in to kill Arak and see. I will see if I need to and how to reset that flag.

If you are too far away from the alter, it will not combine. It does not matter which box you use (LP, HoS, or DSH). You could use the same zone to collect all 3 boxes but would just have to do them 1 at at time. It sounds like you need to have your character flag reset. To do that, send a petition request for it and give specific requests

Sent in my petition to have flag reset but decided to try the single box at a time technique while I waited, since I found that I can solo Tangler. Went to HoS waited till 12 hit combine and "the Box disintegrates in our hand. Maybe you did something incorrect".

Shortly thereafter I received a tell from a very courteous GM with this information. Let me say this beforehand. I am in no way upset at the GM and am posting this simply to warn anyone who is dong this quest to be very careful with your actions. I know that with any quest there are risks of losing things. I am really only frustrated with myself for having deleted the quest before making every attempt to fix it. In that regard I am omitting the GM's name to preserve his standing.

I'm not sure what to do from here, so I guess I will just follow what he suggests.

I am considering looking into having acquiring the quest pre-emptively resetting the flag. That way in this rare case deleting the quest and getting it again will help.

I am also gonna see if there is anything I can do about people that are reading guides, and not paying attention to the task texts and doing things out of order by jumping ahead in the guides. I am not sure there is much I can do about it.

additionally I will try and see if I can do something with eron and get him to reset the flags without fully resetting the quest.

all of this will take time though as I am rather busy currently :/

What am I doing wrong?

I got a group of guildmates to clear out a generator room today to do my final combine. I moved to the spot a guild mate used to do his final combine and kept getting the message that I should move closer?

I am as far up as I can go before crouching, no mobs in the room at all, I tried with levi, w/o levi, invised, not invised, shrunk, grown, but nothign worked. Liek I said we had a guild mate that was with us show me where he did his combine about a month ago and it still did not work.

Thank you for the help, its very furstrating to be so close to finishing but not able too.
