Hi all -- Based on the hints DenMom gave us in this post, it looks like we've got some experimenting to do!

Let's figure out this recipe -- ideas? This seems to be the relevant text:

Hi! I just spent a lot of time working with the skins of animals from this Discord plane and I wanted to share what I've found!

I found three types that are useful for making armor. There are those slimy things called Muckgliders, those things with the tentacles called Feran and the giant beasts called Bazu.

Generally I grade these things in one of four ways. The really bad ones I've been calling ruined. If they have fewer holes and are less likely to fall apart, I call them damaged. Relatively undamaged skins I just call by their names, like Feran skin or whatever. If I get lucky and find one that's really nice I'll call that pristine.

Making armor from the Mukglider (sic) and Feran skins is pretty straightforward. You need to match the pattern to the skin (you don't want to waste a pristine skin on a belt when a ruined one will do), then add an appropriate amount of the creature's blood (this helps the material remain supple). You'll need more blood for the better skins.

Now for the Bazu skin, well, that stuff is hard! You'll have to get a smith to work on that stuff in his forge. Your sewing needle just isn't going to pass through it. The same principles apply, though. You'll still need enough blood from the Bazu to keep the skin from burning in the forge.

There's one other thing that I just have to tell you! If you can find the right ingrediant, you can infuse these armors with power!

Find the flame from a Pyrilen, and put it into the forge with your finished Bazu armor and you'll find that it gains a lot of strength. You may need more flames for the better pieces.

The same is true if you add the right amount of ice from a Gelidran to your Feran armor pieces (and this you can do in your sewing kit), you'll get great results. And if you want to strengthen the Murkglider armor you'll need to use this stuff that you can find inside Discordlings. I'm not sure how to describe it.

I've heard that someone if making these cute little charms that go with our armor! Isn't that nice! I hear they make them using some of the same items that go into the armor and that there is some sort of resonance that happens when you have a lot of armor on. I don't understand it all, but it's nice of them to make such a nice accessory!
    DenMom's hint was:

I'd try a mixing a couple ingredients from the armor listing, a flask of water, and also toss in a clump of refined ancient taelosian clay
After looking at the tailoring recipes, it looks like the recipes generally use:

    1. Pattern
    2. Needle
    3. Appropriate Animal Blood (1-3)
    4. Appropriate Animal Skin
    5. Power Item (Optional)

I would assume that we don't use the pattern and needle. Therefore, it looks like we might need to use a blood and skin. The question is how many and what type? And is there a version for the magnetized armor? Current consensus seems to be that there should be.

So here's the list of potential recipe ingredients.

    1. Clump of Refined Ancient Taelosian Clay
    2. Flask of Water
    3. Some number of Appropriate Blood (Muckglider, Feran, or Bazu)
    4. Some number of Appropraite Skin (Muckglider, Feran, or Bazu)
    5. ?? Sketch
    6. Sculpting Tools
    7. Power Item (Gelidran Essence [no drop]?, Pyrilen ?, or Discordling ?)

It's possible we might add a power item in the glaze?
Or maybe the blood is used in the glaze and not in the main recipe?

    Let's get to work...

I was kinding of approaching the recipe a little differently but no success with anything I have vendor mined yet. Didn't think it would use a skin, but that it would require a power item.

The only thing I have seen on Lucy that looks like a power item is Gelidran Essence and it is NO DROP.

The only reason I think the Power Item isn't within the main recipe is because I'm assuming every set of armor has it's own matching pottery charm. So the non-powered armor would be matched by a non-powered charm.

      That's my theory, anyways.

There's obviously something we're missing (or I'm missing) so far. Yesterday I spent hours messing around with the one muckglider blood (tradeskill flagged) I have found and each of the muckglider skin types with nothing but DNC's.

        1x Muckglider Blood
        1x Ruined Muckglider Skin (1x Damaged, 1x Muckglider Skin, 1x Pristine; 2x)
        1x Flask of Water
1x Clump of Refined Ancient Taelosian Clay (2x, 3x, 4x)
        = DNC

+ Sculpting Tools (all ways) = DNC

+ Idol Sketch (with or without sculpting tools) = DNC

+ Small Deity Sketch (with or without sculpting tools) = DNC

+ Ceramic Lining Sketch (with or without sculpting tools) = DNC

Tried leaving out the blood. (DNC) Tried leaving out the skin. (DNC)
Tried combining blood and clay in wheel. DNC
Tried combining blood, water and clay in wheel. DNC
Tried combining blood and glaze lacquer in glaze mortar. DNC
Tried combining blood, water and glaze lacquer in glaze mortar. DNC

Sorry, fresh out of ideas. =(

Maybe a pattern we're lacking... or multiple skins?

Or maybe it's the "stuff you can find inside Discordlings" mentioned in the book as a "power" source.

Sigh... I have a few odds and ends of Discordling drops. I caught I think in the locked pottery forum in General a comment by the house ogre something about pottery "getting four" new recipes, so that makes it sound like there is only one possible charm recipe for each of the skin types (and as there are three of those, what's the other recipe, the one for the unknown use Aerated Pot?).

I would imagine therefore that only the regular Murkglider Skin or the Pristine MAY be involved in the charm. OR only the blood and the "power source?" Only time (and hair pulling) will tell...

Perhaps Discordling Shadowblood, Splintered Discordling Bone or Glyphed Discordant Amulet? They have class assignments, but no race restrictions or tradeskill tags.

There is also Murkglider and Bazu Plasmas, both no drop and lore, but I suspect they are for a quest not tradeskills.

I still don't think that the "stuff inside" is necessary for the basic recipe. If each set of armor has a matching charm, and there are armors that do and don't use the power item, then we should have a charm that uses and doesn't use the power item.

Some of the tailoring recipes use multiple bloods. Maybe we need to try using more than one blood?

Looking at the armor listings, it looks like they only use the Baku hides. Maybe pottery only uses those hides too and we have a recipe for each level of hide if there are only 4 recipes? Sounds like the Baku blood is kinda rare though.

Oh i see -- so basically the armors are

                      1. Feran
                      2. Muckslinger
                      3. Bazu
                      4. Powered Bazu

And I suppose we'll have a charm for each type if we only have four recipes...

So maybe it takes a certain type of skin to make the charm.

The fourth could be the magnetized armors. I shall experiment if I ever find blood. It seems exceedingly rare.

Nod at Zephaus. Although I would swap powered bazu with magnetic.

                          So it looks like:

                          1) water
                          2) refined clay
                          3) maybe a sketch
                          4) maybe blood - feran, bazu, mukglider, um, what is blood for magnetic?
                          5) maybe skin - figure out which quality and what is needed for magnetic
                          6) maybe power source - gelidran ice, pyrilen flame, something for murkglider, and lightning core
                          7) maybe sculpting tools
                          8) maybe celestial essence (unlikely since it doesn't seem to play a part in armors)

and maybe we need multiples of the skin, blood, or power source

I am not having a lot of luck vendor diving and haven't been beyond the bloodfields so I doubt I have the full parts to do anything yet.

I'm hesitant to think we have a magnetized one, simply because the recipe from the magnetized doesn't come from the same page where the pottery recipe is discussed -- unless the book with the magnetized recipe has a similar hint about pottery charms. Can anyone confirm?

The Plasma is Lore, but it is NOT No Drop. Perhaps it is missing the TS flag like the skins? Just a thought.
