Have the empty flash have a clicky buff called absobtion field.
Next time a buff is cast on you the absorbtion field gets overwritten and trigers an action that stores the new buff in the jar (based on the buff wearing off effect)
You could also then code different absorbtion fields for different buff slots, thus making you require different flasks for different buffs.

Would be fun to bug your local chanter to fill 100 jars of Kei :-)

    Jarak.

I'm kinda wondering what the bazaar price for a jar of KEI would stablize at... because you KNOW that unless you make the filled jars NODROP, there would be a HUGE market for them... which means a huge market for the empty jars too. (This particular item would make me VERY happy to be a potter and enchanter, even though I'm still a ways from KEI.) Depending on where the price stablized, I think we'd probably be seeing fewer people buffing for free, or for minimal donations if the filled jars are tradable.

Another consideration -- many buffs are more/less effective depending on caster level. Clicky items all have a set "level" for purposes of the spell cast. Also, AAs and focus effects can affect things like duration on a buff. So, how would all that work, without turning into a database nightmare? Easiest way (I think) would be that it always works as the lowest level that a spell can be cast, as if no focus effects or AAs are in effect, so a 65% extended KEI from a 65 enchanter would make the same jar as a non-extended KEI from a 60 enchanter.

The easiest way to keep the flasks from competing with Alchemy is to make them cost enough that, if a potion is available, the potion will be considerably cheaper. SoW potions, for example, cost about 7.5pp per in parts to make, so a flask capable of holding SoW might require a peridot (10.5pp) for the "gem encrusted" bit.

As to the level of the effect once it comes back out of the flask, I think having that be fixed at the minimum level required for the spell to be cast, with no extenders, is definitely the most workable.

If it were set up so that the person the spell is cast on has to have the flask, rather than the person casting the spell, then you could make the filled flask NODROP -- the market for the empty flasks would still be there, but people would still have to find someone to cast the spell on their own, rather than purchase ready-filled flasks at the bazzar. The primary reason I can see to do it this way is to keep people from making too big of a profit off others' generosity (i.e. finding someone buffing for free or minimal cost, filling a vial, then selling it for a hefty profit).

I'm not sure how alchemy works... do potions that are equivalent to level (x) spells all cost close to the same to make? If not, I'm not sure how you could put a cost-based restriction on flasks as a means of avoiding competition with potions, since the most logical division (IMO) for multiple types of empty flasks is by spell level.

I always thought using some of the upper end GoD clay-like stuff (muddite et al) to make some pretty nifty range items that have multiple aug slots (just like the GoD smithing has multiple aug slots). Say a type 3 slot or two and I'm happy, that's most of the 'worn' effects like see invis, enduring breath, regen, Flowing Thought... that kind of stuff. Mabye some other stuff if ya want, like Ceramic armor for plate wearers. Crap AC but uber on the stats and has aug slots to die for. Mabye only useful for clerics, but wouldn't you sacrafice say 15 ac for an additional 10 wis or 50 mana on plate armor if you got the chance? Base it off of the GoD smithed armors, reduce AC, increase weight, and add some stats. Mabye make a ceramic shield that's wis caster equippable with bad ac and good stats. Make sure you got some rare ingredients to balance it out, not to mention an obnoxious triv (like over 252 so it never trivs).

              Secondary Recall

Interesting new AA to make note of :

              Secondary Recall
Use of this ability allows you to quickly gate yourself back to a secondary bind point that has been previously set by use of a Stone of Marking.
              From this thread at Graffe's

I'll be curious to see what Tradeskill - if any - makes a "stone of marking."

                Ceramic Assassin's Blade
                Primary Slot
                Rogue Only
                Damage:25
                Delay:75
                Stats: None

Suggest Trivial at around the 275 mark, so that it's hard even for a GM Potter to make, i'd also make them non-lore so that you could carry a supply, but non-stackable so that they take a lot of inventory space (afterall they're very fragile)

you could even make them no-drop if you wanted

Disposable blade designed to hit hard and snap off at the hilt after the first hit / backstab, leaving the rogue holding a broken handle that has to be discarded (put a normal dagger in primary slot)

                Ceramic Throwing Dart
                Ranged Slot (stackable)
                Dmg:3
                Range:250

                Ceramic Throwing Dagger
                Ranged Slot (stackable)
                Dmg:15
                Range:25

                ..

I love all these ideas. I'm sorry I didn't have an idea prepared before replying here but I wanted to share some info I had recently received from another player today. Apparently on the patch a few days ago getting ready for OoW, he saw where there will be a second bind point available. You will use some sort of a marking stone to recall yourself to the second bind point. This is in relation to the suggestion ealier about SOE not going for the second bind point thing.

Thought for a new pottery receipe...

                    Ceramic Bauble of Thought
                    ANY SLOT
                    TYPE <3>
                    Effect Mana Regen +2
                    CASTER CLASSES

                    Ceramic Shard of Vengence
                    ANY SLOT
                    TYPE <3>
                    Effect Attack +10
                    MELEE CLASSES

and I really like the idea of a common drop for TYPE 3 result and a rare drop for a TYPE 7
