These two slots still wont solve the trader alt problem.

I have a trader alt on my second account that uses the 80 slots of bank and 80 slots of character space for selling when I am AFK. I restock a few times a day from my main account or the back space.

I end up with MONEY and the only way to transfer that is player to player. That is why I have a second non LoY account. If there was a plat transfer space in this shared bank I would not need an account to just use in the bazaar with one character.

      Tobin,
It's much easier to get someone to transfer plat as it's one item. Finding someone you trust is another matter.

Items require more work to transfer since you're talking multiple items and having to make sure that everyone involved in the transfer has enough space and that none of the LORE items will be an issue.

Still, being able to trade Plat along with Items would be nice.

Yes - Trust. SOE is doing this I would think to lower the customer support problems as they make it easier for the player. A "Plat" transfer is just the second half of fixing it so there would not be scams of people trying to transfer money.

Well, for me the transfer stuff to the alt is a nightly need. The get the money from the alt is more of a weekly problem, and thus easier to find a friend for (sometime over the weekend is easier than whenever I am ready to go to bed). Clearly having a play transfer is better than not having it, but you can also, in this system, have the alt buy whatever you want purchased and then transfer it to the main. In fact your main could walk around with a few pp (or few hundred or few thousand) in spending cash and whenever he needed something, just have the alt buy it and slide it through the shared slots, esp. if we're talking about bazaar purchases.

but then you'd have to log off your main, then log on your bazaar trader and buy the item. I'd much rather have a shared PP spot so I can have all my money available to all my characters

I’m all for the shared slots, of course, but the subject of trust in EQ has always amazed me. I’m an honest guy. I couldn’t keep so much as a copper of someone’s money without agonizing over it for weeks. Thus I tend to do transfers for friends and guild mates on a fairly regular basis. But what has always surprised me are the complete strangers who ask me to do transfers for them. When I first started playing EQ a couple of years ago I played many different class/race combos trying to figure out what I wanted to play. I was playing a 10th level troll warrior when someone asked me to do a transfer. He handed me a bag of items I’d never heard of before and now with three characters over 50th level I still don’t think I’ve seen half of them. Naturally I gave them back, a little wet from all the drool, but he got them back. Now why in the world would someone give that kind of stuff to a low level character they’ve never met? And you can’t tell me my troll had an honest face. *grins* I might have written it off if it had been an isolated incident. But that sort of thing has happened to me time and time again. Now that I have higher-level characters I can understand it to some degree, but all my low level characters, good and bad alike, have done transfers for strangers.

If this is a common theme then I’m not surprised Sony has to deal with a lot of customer complaints about transfers. I know there are a lot of decent people out there, but I also know there are a good number of people in the game that would take advantage of such an exchange to enrich their own characters. Personally I’ve never been that trusting. I have a few hidden, out-of-the-way spots where I do drop trades. And I’ve yet to lose anything that way. *knock on wood* And for money transfers I wait till I can find a friend online.

Hopefully the item transfer slots will be a test and if it works out well Sony will add a slot for money transfers as well. I see no reason not to. Though I feel EQ is overall a better game than UO, Ultama Online does have the advantages of shared items between characters for anyone who owns or is friended to a house. It really does make life in game much easier.

Someone once asked me "Can I trust you?"
I replied "Yes, but thats the same answer a dishonest person would give you."

I too have had a LOT of transfer requests but in the past 8 or so months, I don't think I've gotten a single one. There might have been an increase in the number of people being burned as "scams" tend to run in cycles. IT would also help to explain why Sony is doing something about it now rather than a different time. <shrug> Its all hypothetical so there's no way to know without someone from SOE speaking up.

Which is the exact answer I'd be looking for if I'd asked you that. Someone who's looking to be dishonest would just have said yes.

a couple of years ago a dear friend used to do transfers for anyone who asked. Until he did a transfer for someone, and said person accused him of stealing some of their stuff It was a huge mess and very annoying for all of us.

I used to help folks with transfers all the time, until that happened. I'm one of those painfully honest folks, I count my change and if i got too much i give it back. I do help strangers with swapping now and then still, but very very rarely. My husband, on the other hand, goes out of his way to help strangers do their swapping ("you need me to run 4 zones over, pick up 5 bags of stuff, and then run another 6 zones to give this all to your alt? SURE!!!") and has never had any sort of problem

I am fairly frequently asked by complete strangers to do transfers for them. One time after doing such a transfer of some pretty pricey stuff, I asked the person why they trusted me with the goods. The response was "your guild has a good reputation," which was one of the nicest compliments I ever received as a member of that guild.

I stopped doing transfers for strangers when someone handed me three bags of stuff in Nexus for their twink, logged to the twink, and then proceeded to take almost an hour (while anon) getting to Nexus to take their stuff. I was so mad I almost gave their junk away to random passers by.

I've only had one bad experience while helping someone with a transfer. Took almost 15 minutes from the time they gave me a bag of stuff to get their other character to where I was waiting for them, but I think they had computer problems that caused the delay (This happened in PoK and the character I was xfering to was fairly low level, so I'm pretty sure the problem didn't involve getting a port). Fortunately, I wasn't doing anything at the time so it was no big deal.

Usually, I'm willing to help someone with a transfer if I have the room and the time to do it, but I only ask guild members to help me with a transfer.

Should have done what I do: Make sure they tell you the name of the character you're xfering to and write it down if its not easy to remember. Anon only hides their class, race, guild and current location, not the fact that they're logged on. If they take forever getting there, give them a five minute warning when you're starting to get fed up. If it takes them forever to get there, then that's THEIR problem, not yours.

Almost an hour, though? You're a lot more patient than I am. After about 30 minutes, if they didn't respond to a tell, I'd be off twinking some newbs somewhere.
