  • Casual Tradeskilling: Methods of Mastery in a day

I'm trying to get some members of my guild into some basic tradeskilling, and I was wondering if you all could help me put together a tradeskill package guide. Here's what I have so far (in abbreviated version)

    191 Baking in 1 day:
    1. Get a fillet knife. This is a smithed item that requires 3 metal bits, a scalar mold, and a flask of water, combined in the forge.
    2. In Thurgadin, go to Mordin's meats (the right passage as you go in). Buy lion and bear meat, combine one-at-a-time with the fillet knife till it tricials at 142
    3. Go to JaggedPine, get lots of cheese (at the fort or the nicer gnoll caves for evils), go to Thurgadin, buy some bread from the innkeeper and more meat from Mordin, and make patty melts(one bread, one cheese, and one meat) to 191.
Cool items you can make from this level on: Ohabah Truffles, Halas Meat Pies, Holy Cake, Misty Thicket Picnics. All of these require camping, either of mammoth and wolf meat, mushrooms, or of brownie parts.

    122 Smithing in 1 day:
    1. Get lots of water flasks & sharpening stones from North Freeport (at the smithy shop by the bard guild).
    2. In EFP, buy rusty shortswords and broadswords (from Resales). Then go to the forge by the armor shop, and sharpen them by combining each weapon with a sharpening stone. convert them into ore by combining the tarnished weapon with one flask of tater, make metal bits by combining two unstacked small pieces of ore with a flask of water, then make metal sheets by combining two small bricks of ore with a flask of water. Save your results.
    3. Make dairy spoons by combining a scalar mold with two unstacked metal bits and a flask of water to 76, then make banded armor to 115.
    4. Make embroidery needles to 122.
Nifty things you can make at this level: ornate chain, banded armor, various tools.

Pottery to 199 in 1 day:
    1. Make jars to 41
    2. Make medium bowls to 122
    3. Make large bowls to 148
    4. Make poisen vials to 188 (you'll need a lot of zombie skins to do this)
    3. Make ceramic lining and casserole dishes to 199 (this can take a bit longer, due to necessary ingredient combines, but it is possible)
Nifty things you can make at this level: Opaline steins, cooking tools, ceramic bands, and thurgadin gate potions.

Brewing to 151 in a day:
Get a clops skull from SK, make Skull Ale by combining vinegar, spices, short beer, and your cyclops skull (always returned) to 151. You can find all the ingredients to this in Halas, fairly close to each other.
From there, the Faydwer shaker can get you to 185.
Nifty things you can make at this level: stat-buffing drinks, booze, any zone essence.

    Fletching mastery in a day:
I don't really know. No guides are out there. Still, it looks pretty easy, you just make a LOT of arrows, gradually upgrading components as you go.
Nifty things you can make with fletching: arrows, bows, thurgadin quest items.

    Jewelcraft mastery in a day:
    Consult the below link:
    http://www.valendor.org/gumkak/jewelcraft.asp
Get a jeweler's kit, plug in your present skill level, and see what to make next. This is a pricey tradeskill, but it's not that hard to do. This skill is mostly for enchanters and the occasional prayer shawl quester.

    Fishing mastery in a day:
Train it up at guild? There's really no quick way to raise this; try to camp around areas with water, and fish during downtime.

Tailoring to (relative) mastery in a day:
    1. Go to Thurg and buy mandrake. Make woven mandrake to 66, then picnic baskets to 76. From there, there's a LOT of farming involved.

Well, you can get to 76 in one day in Thurg. Picnic Baskets. Not master but helps.

Fletching is pretty straightforward and easy. Get a hold of the trivial chart for components and follow the chart. Use the cheapest, most basic ingredients for everything but the ONE component with the target trivial. When it goes triv, move on to the next item. There are a couple of point to keep in mind though: 1) Silver tips seem a LOT more expensive then they really are since your yield is 10 rather than 5 per combine (more to sell back means less plat spent) and 2) Ceramic Vanes and Steel Shafts have the same trivial (202) but the Vanes are SLIGHTLY cheaper to buy so it’s less Plat in the long run.

This is by far the best step-by-step procedure for leveling up JC. I spent MAYBE 300p to get to 122 in under 2 hours with a 190 WIS (Wood ELF).

I'm not sure if this is a good idea. If they get the impression that levelling tradeskills is easy, they might come for blood once they see what they really got into.

brewing is easier to master and cheaper if you make fetid essence rather than skull ale. All the parts for sale in POK, fishing grub and a flask of water. Trivs is 122 i think

I’m always happy to see this kind of thread. I play a lot of different characters and I like them all to have some trade skill abilities. So if someone lists a different path then I’ve seen before its one more option I have for skilling up yet another character.

Here’s a link to a thread I started a little while back. It may have some useful information as well: http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4826

For brewing, go to Thurg, and make Mino Hero Brew. All the components are available in Thurgadin, and for the casks, there's a brew barrel with a merchant right next to it.

If he starts them out on Mino's, a 9 component combine he'll have half crazed carpel tunnel inflicted guildies beating his head in with short ale and mead! Mino's are definately not the way to start, and level. There are other easier vendor bought methods. Follow the Progression on the brewing page, best thing ever and got more than one of us to 200+ (Im still at 192 oooo my wrist!)

For Brewing, everything you need for a Faydwer Shaker is in East Freeport, on just 2 vendors even, with a brew barrell next to the second vendor. That will take you to 188 pretty fast, if you have money.

After that if you have a corking device you can start making grobb liquid meat, all the other materials are for sale in bazaar and shadow haven (you need to be able to buy from the fussier shadow haven vendors). So with enough plat you could hit 200 pretty fast if you wanted to.

The idea is not to get them to elite tradeskill status, but rather to get them to where they can make desired and useful items. My guild is primarily composed of alts, so I was looking at ways we could get up our tradeskills to reasonable levels (like the thurgadin prayer shawl levels) in not-too-much time without an insane effort. I'm tackling smithing myself, we have a dedicated baker and potter, and perhaps I could do tailoring, too (though I shiver at the thought of it).

We play on Firiona Vie, so making the shawls will be a pretty fair way of raking in the platinum, once we get to the level where we can effectively farm the ingredients.

                            mini-tradeskill party

Combine fishing and brewing by heading to Cobalt Scar!

Have one person making Othmir Short Beer (all ingredients bought from otters) while the others fish. When all are 31, they can move on to combining the cobalt cod they've fished to 68 and the dragon bay snapper to 135.

Okay, not the fastest route but at least it's fun ... biggest problem is keeping people from fighting over the brew barrel (distract them by sending them to make fish fillets (fish plus oyster sauce) in the oven next door)!

Note: bring a druid/wizard to get back up supplies (water for brewing, bait, fishing rods).

                              Brewing

For the first time in quite a while, thanks to this thread, I'm taking a look at the brewing page, trying to come up with a fast/cheap skill up path from 0-200 or even 250. The PRIMARY Goal though is ALL store bought and NO FORAGING! I have 15 characters on 4 servers, and ONE foraging class/race.

                              So, here's what I got.

                              1) Fetid essence: Fishing Grub, Flask of Water, no container --- Triv 122

Fishing Grubs can be purchased in Kerra Isle, or PoK. That means one zone (PoK) to make this. This is insanely cheap! :lol Obscenely cheap! :lol

                              2) 2X brewed 2X stout dwarven ale: 2 dwarven ale, 2 short beer, cask --- Triv 142

All ingredients (and brew barrel) can be found together in the following zones, East Freeport, High Pass, Kaladim, Sanctus Seru and Skyshrine. Not always the same merchants, but in the same zone yes.

                              3) Faydwer shaker: Elven Wine, Gnomish Spirits, Dwarven Ale, Mead, Cask (gives 4 empty bottles on success or failure) --- Triv 188

All ingredients (and brew barrel) can be found in East Freeport, Highpass Hold Skyshrine. Several other zones have "most" ingredients, but not all. (I was surprised, I thought there were more zones with "everything")

                              4) Grobb Liquidised Meat: Soda Water, Malt, Liquidised Gator, Liquidised Rat, Liquidised Snake, Cask, Cork, Corking Device --- Triv 216

Believe it or not, every single ingredient for this (minus the tinker made Corking Device obviously) can be found in ShadowHaven, which is why it made my list.

                              OR...

                              5) Minotaur Hero's Brew: 3 malt, yeast, 2 flask water, 2 short beer (gives back 2 empty bottles, success or failure) --- Triv 248

There are several places where the ingredients can be found in a single zone (including brew barrel). I don't know how fast or easy, but it's all in ONE zone... Ak'Anon, Firiona Vie, gukta, Halas, High Pass Hold, Neriak (NFQ), Oggok, shar Vahl, and Thurgadin. What a clicking nightmare this 9 ingredient recipe is!

                              6) 250 can only be reached with Champagne (3 types) or Kaladim Constitutional, and I'm NOT listing the ingredients, etc... :lol

                              That's just me of course....

                              Fetid Essence: Trivial at 122
2xbrewed 2x stout Dwarven Ale: Trivial at 142
                              Faydwer Shaker: Trivial at 188
Grobb Liquidised Meat: Trivial at 216 (can be eliminated if you are going all the way to 250)
Minotaur Hero's Brew: Trivial at 248
Champagne or Kaladim Constitutional: Trivial at 250 or 250+

I think I need to start taking a deeper look at the rest of the trades to find the cheap/easy way to mastery now.
