  • How to dye your armor with LoY

I have made a few of these dyes, the component cost is 37pp per attempt at a cha of 50. all the component are sold in the lighthouse in gunthak on an erudite female vendor. what you need is:

    unfired dye vial
    prism
    jar of lacquer
    quality firing sheet

you need to combine the vial and quality firing sheet in a kiln (trivial is higher than 53) I made 19 out of 33 tries at skill levels 49 - 53, still was not trivial at 53. Then you combine the prism and lacquer in a brew barrel (this is trivial at 54). Then you take the vial you made in the first step, and the dye you made in the second step and combine them in a brew barrel to make the final product (it was not trivial at 56).

ps... The 2 combines that are made in the brew barrel can also be combined in a shaman medicine bag.

    But the real question is:

If you use your medicin bag instead of the brew barrel does it use alachemy skill? I would assume that it does but are there other instances of 2 tradeskills makeing the same item?

I was 211 brew and 207 alachemy when i did it so no wayto check.

Old-fashioned dyes (for fine plate armour!) could be made using either poison-making or alchemy

The unfired vial is sold by the erudite in the lighthouse, along with the other 3 components.

all the components are stackable. as for dying the armor, its much like changing your face. You go to your inventory screen and there is a button there that says "dye". when you go to that screen it shows your character from a 3rd person view, and has each slot listed for viewable armor slots, ie. legs, arms, wrists, boots. Then there is a little box you click next to each slot to pick a color, after you pick a color your able to see what it looks like on your character. after you choose all the colors you like, it tells you at the bottom of that screen how many reagents you need to use the colors you chose, it also tells how many reagents (dyes) you have available. Just having them in a backpack on you makes them available. If you have enough reagents available you can then hit save and it will make the color permanent, so others around you now can see the new colors. Now my understanding of this process is that the dye colors a slot and not the armor, so you should be able to dye any armor and even if you change armor, it should be the same color, because you are dying your boots slot a certain color and not the actual piece of armor you are wearing as boots when you do the dye.

                  Lonewylfe:

During beta the people who were not in the beta could still see my dyed armor, so I would guess that yes, people who do not have LoY will be able to see the color. as for the command you asked about, I am not sure, I have never tried that command.

I wish they'd use the actions window or the window toolbar for new buttons instead of the inventory. I already had to edit my inventory window to add the charm slot in, and there's just no room for a Dye button too. Is there at least a slash command or keyboard shortcut to bring it up?

Lonewylfe asked this in another post:

                      2) The command /purebodytint or something close to that, what does that do exactly?

This may be the command to bring it up, I am not sure of that. as for putting it on the windows toolbar, it would be a tight squeeze, its prtty full now. They added the map, storyline, journal, and help button to the window bar. maybe a few others, but those are the ones I remember right now.

                        I have a question I havent found..

does the dye tint or recolor? These are very different things.

If I "dye" my black armor white, does it turn grey? Or if I die my green black is it just dark green? Or does black dye make black armor?

/crosses fingers its the second one

good question, from my experience it recolors. With my frog I did his newbie armor quest for froglok clerics, the armor was bright red. When I died the armor I used bronze and blue, and the color of my armor stayed true to the samples on the dye page, so it did not look like the red blended with the blue to make purple? or what ever color red and blue is. and the bronze color stayed just that color. One thing that did make a difference is the color of the frogs body, my frog is black and yellow, but I played with some other skin colors and there is a skin color that is all red, and that skin color made a difference in the way my armor color looked.

Gunthak is the first zone you will hit when you zone in from stonebrunt, as soon as you zone in your on a pier type thing, the lighthouse is right on that pier, you can see it as soon as you zone into gunthak.
