      while i could "probably" do the tool first, it just makes my working with tradeskills very difficult, making many many things I do take much longer than they need. that is without a code change. I could ask for a code change to reverse the order of how things come to you. (instead of 1 to 4... do 4 to 1)

      But a code change I would prefer is a "tool" section in the recipe definition, that yes, would leave anything included in the inventory, never leaving like the items do. (and If I get my charged tradeskill item through, consumes a charge)

        I don't suppose you have access to cash we are carrying? Create a new item called the tradeskill transmorgrifier. Combine it alone in a forge and it returns the transmorgrifier and the most expensive smithing tool, and eats the cost of the sell price of the item (or more.) Combine that item and the stone to make the next most expensive (with or without sell price refund.) Continue until you get to the cheapest item where it poofs, doesn't combine, or refunds the last of the cash. Combine it in a jewelry kit and it makes jewelry tools, etc.

        The same could be done with the collapsed containers, though it'd need to be a separate item. Create a no drop item that unfolds one of the bags. Then do it just like the solo setting tool.

          Just brainstorming on top of another idea mentioned above...

          Overview

          Master tool summons a bag of standard tools. The concern is a platinum exploit, and rightfully so. Here is a valid work around.

          Smithing Master Tool <Clicky Summon Bag o' Tools - Expendable>

          The bag it summons in is a container itself. To reassemble the master tool kit, you have to combine the tools in it.

          End result: 1 new recipe (quest combine). 2 new items in game (clicky, and the bag) per tradeskill.

          Quest requirements

          Task, in addition to the nightmare a tradeskiller will most likely have to do, will have various required steps to the task.
          • Give one File to Taskmaster.
          • Give one Smithing Hammer to Taskmaster.
          • Give one Tanaan Smithing Hammer to Taskmaster.
          • Give on Smithing Chisel to Taskmaster.

          Tada. Items removed from game without any fancy footwork.

          Example in use

          Smithing Master Tool is clicked. It is consumed. You receive a bag with the following items in it:
          • File
          • Smithing Hammer
          • Tanaan Smithing Hammer
          • Chisel

          You use a chisel. You still have a bag in your inventory. However, when you want to put the bag away, you need to put all the tools back into it, then hit combine.

          End result: No new items introduced into the game. No new platinum introduced into the game. Balance is kept.

          Additional Thoughts

          Given the specific nature of these items, there really isn't any reason the master tool bag can't be tradeable. We aren't including quest tools, or special nodrop things, and some people are insanely short on bank space.

          Oh, and if you decide to name them after players who contribute to the creative process, I call dibs on poison. Turlo's Tool Kit of the Apothecary sounds rather nice.

            Item: Collapsed bag of Tools - Container with 1 slot. Combine in it, Gem of Smithing(baking, alchemy, etc) Tool Summoning that costs just over the price of the tools it will summon. This item is nodrop, but purchaseable form vendors. When you put the gem in the bag and combine, you get...

            Item: Bag of Smithing Tools - Container with smithing tools(regular, sellable). Use your tools and when done, put them all back in the container and combine. When combines you get Collapsed bag of Tools and your Gem of XXX Tool summoning back.

            This way, the cost is more than the tools themselves would sell for, but you get to keep it so you dont have to buy a reagent every time you want to summon some tools. Also the only recipes you would have to add would be for the bags. Add the quest/aa/etc and the gems and you are done.

                Way to do this without developers

                Instead of a fancy tool or task/quest. How about just creating an alt? I have several, such as Smithymule, who is the caretaker of all my smithing components and tools. If you have multiple accounts, put your mule on an alternate account, so he's ready to hand you what you need, from a file to a small brick of velium, to a vial of Tae Ew Blood. Otherwise, there is the shared bank method. If you go this route, you don't need to worry about storing the (almost guarateed to be no-trade) clicky tool in your bank. if you do multiple tradeskills, try to have a mule for each one, so you can keep the drops straight and easier to find what you need.

                  Creating an alt isn't an option for some folks, Taaxi... or rather, specifically, it's not an option for folks on FV. "Creating an alt" there means "buy another account". I have four as it is.

                    While we're on the rotating tool note --- Ngreth, is there any way you can change the trivials on the rotation for the JC tool? Make the Trio setting mold 16, the Duo 15, Solo 14, and so on downwards? That way, we can sort on triv to get the click steps.

                        I am not 100% sure that those combines would be no-fail.

                        And it needs to be no fail even for the lowest skill levels not just 116 +

                        It would suck to loose the tools!

                          Well, right now, the triv on all of these is 16... I'm just thinking to leave one step of the tool at 16, and the rest go down in triv.

                            Yeah. That is due to another code weirdness.

                            In the Database I actually do not put the "Trivial" in the database, instead there is a "Difficulty"

                            this "Difficulty" is then converted by code to the trivial (I have NOOOOO idea why there is this horrible roundabout)

                            -1 = No Fail (trivial 16... I think no skillups, but could be wrong)
                            0 = 16
                            1=17
                            2=18
                            ...
                            46=62
                            then it starts going by a formula which I forget, but this formula means that i actually CANNOT assign it every third trivial because it is skipped by the formula.

                            So I cannot assign a trivial less than 16.

                            I have a request (not on the code request list ) to get rid of that silliness and allow me to just put in the trivial I want, with -1 still being no-fail.

                              Yeah, it sounds like someone was being clever, and in doing so built something that makes no sense.

                              Don't suppose the code crew is hiring remote workers? I'll fix it, but don't care to relocate from the East Coast. ;D

                                Can't you also adjust though, a hard coded fail rate (you must fail at least X% of the time) and set that so the combine could be no-fail? Or would setting that to 0 just mean you have the normal success rate or does it not accept negative numbers? You have a -100% chance to fail

                                Although it would not allow for the 16, 15, 14, 13 cycle that someone was hoping for.
