  • bad news about tinting...

Let me start with a reminder that venting of anger and frustration needs to go to Primal Scream. Discussion only here.

But I found on the shaman boards this thread which points to a picture of what is apparently a new UI window that will allow people to do the new tinting we've been hearing about. The picture can be found here or here. Alas, it looks like tinting is going to be nothing more than open up the tinting window and tint yourself.

Of course this doesn't *necessarily* mean tradeskills won't be involved. I'm not at home to check my own files to be sure this isn't even a fake. And we don't know what the regeants mentioned at the bottom of the window mean, those might somehow bring tradeskills into the process in a satisfactory manner...maybe...somehow....

Guess we will find out officially tomorrow. I do hope it has at least something to do with tradeskills.
Come on guys, one more pull. What is the worst that could happen?

Interesting. Although it could very well use a tradeskill--it's quite possible that when you attempt the coloring you could get a "you lack the skills" message. Wouldn't it be cool if dying required multiple skills at the same time? E.g. smithing and brewing. And who knows what the reagents will be.

That said, it looks a little clumsy. What if you want to dye different pieces different colors? Right now it looks like you have to make sure that the first reagent in your inventory is the color you want. It would be better if you could select the dye.

It still could use tradeskills, those reagents have to come from somewhere

Why would there be any venting Verdandi?

There has only been a UI screen put in, not any details or any actual information except we can tint body, armor and it will require reagents.

              I'll vent if you like....

              Darn teasers...

They shouldn't show that pic until after the LoY site explains the skill

Here is to hoping the reagents are a No Fail combine that you need to be GM brewer to do

That way I get business, but people wont be afraid to take their leather and plate to me to get their designer colors.

P.S. So it wont happen, a guy can dream can't he?

                    Doctored?

Is it just me, or does that image look a bit doctored? Why are the buttons at the bottom blue? I don't think that matches any of the default UI buttons. And off the top of my head, the check boxes don't resemble any of the check boxes in other areas of the Default UI either. (sorry I don't have Screenshots to back any of this up)

All I'm saying is, it looks like it may be put together by someone to raise discussion/debate/etc... I would think that SOE would have a pretty tight handle on the release of info like this and I find it hard to think it would leak out like that.

Just the pessimist in me playing Devil's Advocate. I'll look silly tomorrow when that is the exact format of the new dying window :?

Those screenshots came from a WYSIWYG EQ UI editor called Sidlwidl. (http://www.sidlwidl.com)

SoE "leaked" it when they pushed the EQUI_BodyTintWnd.xml file onto our clients. Because it shows in your default ui, it's there for customing in sidlwidl if not in game.

Placing a 5p bet that you see about 3000 people running around in some form of black armor.

Personally, I have more fun buying stuff to see what looks the best and protects the best at the same time.

I remember that originally they said they couldn't do this, since it would require a new item for each different colour of the old item. I can also see how this tinting, since it will be information stored server-side, might increase lag...

Maybe there will be a "/customtints off" switch.

Sorry Verdandi, I've seen couple posts on varying boards start screaming and yelling and was hoping to defuse before it began :P

Oh it's ok, I need keeping in line sometimes too. I guess I had all sorts of grand visions about how this could be a major boost to tradeskills, and now I'm not sure it will be nearly as big a deal for us. But I've been wrong before, we'll know soon! At any rate, I'm very impressed that I'm the only one who had the knee-jerk reaction.
