So far from what I have seen from Tailoring and Smithing both is that the skill up routes have been smoothed... a LOT. I have not had any disgusting 50-200 combine stalls like I did a couple years ago with my necro (made a tailor alt cause necro's get int up higher easier than paladins, atleast at that time).

I went from 221 to 254 on less than 260 combines. So far, my skill up rate has been in the area of one in eight combines. The worst run I have had is in the area of 25 combines without a skill gain.

My smithing which I took up from 238 to 294 has so far taken about about 730 combines. But even so that is about one in eleven combines gives a skill up and even those numbers are skewed because once I hit 291, I was getting a skill up about 1 in 40-60 combines.

The path is a LOT smoother than it use to be, but combines can be a bit more difficult to gather up. The thing that I have noticed is key is that the higher you get your stats, the faster you skill up. Stats seem to make a huge impact now.

Believing in soe as in, believing in them to do the right thing.... change the trivials back.

Not believing in them to not lie, which I know they didn't lie.

I'm just saying, they said we changed the trivials by accident(indicating a mistake), and they never corrected it, they just said live with it... far as I heard, that they werent changing it back.

      /shrug.

Was a bad choice of wording on my part.

Wait... they said this AFTER the mistaken change to Tailoring...

they did not touch the others until after they smothed out the skill-up forumula... (not that they have even touched them yet...)

At least this is the way I remember it... that they talked about changing the skillup curve after the mistake to tailoring, not before.

I did 70 othmir fur combines for 0 points on Monday... so I'd say, as usual, that random luck continues to very much be a factor, and your anecdotal evidence of 33 skillups in 260 attempts (1 SG per ~8-9 combines) just highlights the 'best case scenario' of possible results, whereas my own is indicative of the worst. Now, I'm only 63, and therefore don't have the benefit of full wis, which may explain some of the discrepancy, but I'd say most of it still just the RNG being good to you, and bad to me.

When they add boosted chances for skillups to specific recipes, (hopefully tomorrow), -then- I'll believe it to be something more than a lucky (or unlucky) session with the RNG.

As I stated in the end of my post... stats now play a huge role in tradeskills.

I am guessing for the most part your stats are not very close to the 400 mark yet being 63. When my stats were under 350, I was getting about 1 in 15 as a standard earlier on... once I got the right buffs and pushed everything over 400, especially with smithing, things went a lot faster.

I know others have done better, but having that long string of crud for luck just sucks.
I'm at 287 blacksmithing. Wish I would have skilled up before they ganked the skill up formula bigtime.

I'm planning on mostly skipping sickles at this point and doing stuff that takes rare components with the idea that 130 combines for 10 skill ups beats the heck out of 1300 mistletoe sickle combine (over 10k celestial essence combines).

Heck I might do more sickles if Aliande, Teqila, and Fourrest continue to help me with subcombines and storage space. Thanks all! But for sure I'll splurge on whatever cultural items I can get my hands on after the patch and hope for some skill ups that way.

Stats maxed at lvl 70 is pretty vague. Things that lacks to say is Planar Power involved? Chaotic Potential(believe that's the oow stat one)? DoN Progression?

If I remember right on what Ngreth posted, from about 291->300 you are looking at about a 1-2% chance to skill up at best. If that's true, 100 combines per just means you are on the low end of chance. It sucks, royally, but that is also why I stopped at 293 with smithing and now am just working on other things.
