For those that don't want to use any other programs, you can easily figure out what bread/wine you have by standing in a "safe" (no-attack) zone and trying to consume one. If it's bad, you'll get the "tries to cast a spell on you, but you are protected" message. Then you can throw the stack away.

I'm doing this now, when I log on, I pop the jester in PoK, PoT, or the guild hall and just let him summon all the stuff for 15 mins. I get rid of the bad and keep the good. Of course, this means that the first 15 mins are "wasted", but I can easily waste 15 mins saying hi to everyone and getting self-buffed and regenned in the guild hall preparing for fighting.

They changed it so bread is +10/-5 hp regen (on 5/11 by Lucy, so that would be before they ever were available).

For those with some form of cure poison (spell or clickie), it easy to simply test the food/drink and cure it (6 poison counters) if the effect is negative. Not all classes have that option, but it is handy for those that do.

Hi guys, thanks for pointing this out.

As it turns out, the fact that the Vet reward gives an exceptional benefit to Tradeskillers that does not count down was unintended (per the designer in question). I would look forward to Vet rewards counting down normally in Guild Halls sometime in the future (probably on Test first). Please take this as a warning that this will happen; the decision could change, but currently, it's been decided to remove this unintended benefit.

On a positive note, Vet rewards will soon be un-dispellable, so feel free to pop the double-XP one before fighting that Chromodrac again (well, after the change goes Live, that is).

Should have known.... like the saying goes..

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

And, on a positive note: This will be my last month playing EQ (due to various reasons, EQ and otherwise)

Cry.. not one mention of things like the *DONE* button that is sooo desperately needed on the new merchant ui's.. just get rid of the nicest thing that has happened FOR tradeskillers in a while.

So, anyone figure out how we can xp in the guild hall before this change goes live?

Edit: As an afterthought, while we have the double xp vet reward up, shouldn't we be getting two skill ups each time instead of just one?

Sorry, I'm going to get a bit rantish.

Respectfully, I understand this was unintended and needs to be fixed eventually, but I'd like to point out that there are plenty of things HURTING tradeskillers right now that need fixing too and all we've had is SILENCE, or refusals to fix them.

The nerf to Tailoring trivials (ex: arctic wyvern hide armor) was rolled out too early by your own admittance, but was that fixed and put back the way it was until several months down the line you are actually ready to roll out the changes? NO! But this benefits us so it must be fixed immediately?

An immediate fix to the unlimited increased stats is consistent with policy. Sony has said before that Exploits must be fixed first, before the bugs that people complain about. I don't like this policy, but here's the argument: Human behavior tends to change the impact and thus the priority of bug fixes.

If something is broken and making life harder:
Players will avoid the situation, going to unbroken places and activities, so the impact is minimized. (For instance, tailoring skillup path is broken, but you can still smith, or bake, or brew, or... level? GACK!) If no one is doing it, then it's a low priority to fix.

If something is broken and people can use it to thier advantage:
Players will FLOCK to it, magnifying the impact. (Skilling up to 300 using velious leathers was an unintended effect, a bug, that tradeskillers LOVED to use.) If everyone is doing it, then it's a high priority to fix.

In other words, if an area is bugged badly enough, you won't use it, so it's not important. If an area is exploitable enough, everyone will use it and it will have to be fixed.

So, let's find a way to manufacture platinum by taking advantage of the lack of tailoring skillup paths! Then they'll have to fix it! (Er... wait, I've seen the prices on GM symbols, maybe someone already has?)
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

Though your reasoning is sound, atleast from the point of view of a developer, it doesn't really work out as well when you add the factor in of how players feel about the changes.

The fact that they would change this back as soon as possible, versus getting tradeskills stabled out fully (which has been on the table for months now) shows to most people that the priority is not with trying to fix the problems created by the change in their coding for how tradeskills work and not putting in the innate chance at skilling and changing trivial levels.

I am pretty sure most in the tradeskilling community would agree that that was a change group that should have been made in one lump sum versus in pieces... of which if I am thinking right, the second piece has yet to be introduced and it has been around 2 months since the first's inception.

I know as a player, I will be severely let down and disappointed if they were to change the Veteran Rewards, something they should have known would have been a huge boon to tradeskillers with guild halls since they made it a buff (but not much for other ways to make it anywho). The only question I have is, Why have introduced it with the capability to last that long in the guild halls? To me, it seems a simple thought that buffs = infinite length + tradeskill containers in guild halls would have been something that would have come up in the discussion of the Vet Reward AAs.

Well, my point was just that the unintended benefit of the velious tailoring HAD to be removed fast. So did the effect of Vet Reward 2 in the guild hall. It was an "unintended benefit" or from Sony's point of view, an exploitable bug.

SOE is big enough, lower priority issues often get worked in parallel to high priority issues by other developers. (For instance, expansions are the ultimate in low priorities, but there will be more expansions, whether we like it or not.) I'm very sure a fix IS coming to all the skill up paths, including and especially tailoring.

Slower development is actually a GOOD thing, because it means they take more time to think through the results. I'm honestly more concerned about the QA process than the time frame. A bunch of new recipes for skilling up won't do anyone any good if the drops to do them don't actually exist. (Rune of Zephyr?) I don't quite understand how so much tradeskill related stuff goes out completely untested.

You have twice indicated that velious tailoring was a bug requiring a quick fix. Where does this come from? It was my understanding that the tailoring trivial realignment simply leaked out to the live servers sooner than expected (by the devs own admission). Velious tailoring had been (since the release of SoV) the high end skill up route.
