Quests - A quest has been added that will allow you guys to swap between the two Aid Grimel earrings.
Thanks very much. That's a much needed change. Wish I'd have know a while back of course since I blew some raid points on FT items I could have passed on and let someone else who needed them more, but this is a great change and it's appreciated. And yeah, I'm a bard. =p

I'm not sure I would use the word "lucrative". The indirect result of my doing this quest will be my ability to make and sell high end tradeskill items. The direct result is anything but lucrative, although nice, I can't sell it.

I also play a bard and plan on doing the trade in quest. Thanks for looking in to it and allowing us to make the change. Thank for the replies also You saved me the trouble of having to add FT to my final earring (which I intended to do btw).

By lucrative, I think he meant for the farmers, not for the tradeskiller. Imagine how expensive it would be to buy those components if everyone needed twice as many (since everyone would want both earrings).

The solution to this though doesn't have to be that people are limited to one earring. This is a simple supply & demand situation. If you increase the demand (for the components) by having everyone want to make two earrings, you can keep the overall lucrativity (dunno if that's really a real word or not) but increasing the supply (hint hint). Then everyone would be happy

Make sure you add lots of HP and mana to the velium gemmed warhammer. And some STA. And a new graphic. I was having tae ew war maul flashbacks all night.

Then again, it popped all my resists over 100 finally.

On a related note, the graphic for the Velium Gemmed Broad Spear is ... dull. WAY uninspiring. It looks like a plain old Rusty Spear. I've had at least two buyers walk away after seeing it modeled.

The graphic for the Velium Gemmed Warhammer is rather nifty; it's the same graphic used on the Hammer of Silent Screams (?). I thought it a pretty decent graphic myself.

I thought those used the Ivory velious lance graphics. Rusty spear? Ewwwww.

Dunno about that hammer, but it's the same graphic the Tae Ew War Maul used. Personally, combined with the animation, I feel like I'm poking someone with a half-demolished rocking chair (I don't know why, but the bowed end of that graphic has always reminded me of a rocking chair rocker - the spindly haft doesn't help matters).

Any indication what the required level will be on the smithed weapons? My 57 rogue uses the 16/20 dagger (is 14/20 for her), and I really don't want to log on and die instantly because I have an invalid item equipped.

Folks... when someone posts an unacceptable link, it would be best not to Quote the Link itself... it just adds to the problem... and causes us moderators to do more work to clean out the trash from the quoted sections.

The obvious solution would be to un-equip it before logging for the patch.

IIRC when they changed stuff so that you could no longer equip it it stays equiped till you remove it. I'm not sure how it works with required levels on weapons but I'd assume it still works like that. (such as an item that you had on your finger that's change to no longer be finger equipable, etc.)

Allowing players to exchange the earring for one that suits their individual needs seemed like a reasonable request, without affecting the existing dynamic of the quest.

This is all good and well for the uber guild members that are able to get flagged to Aid Grimel. What about the rest of us that have spent the 300K and many, many hours of farming to work up our trade skills, only to be shut out because we don't belong to a raiding guild that is elemental capable?

Its rediculous to make a trade skill oriented item available to only those that have the ability to get flagged for the higher planes. In fact, its exactly the people that can't get flagged that should have an alternative route to making nice gear since we get shut out of the better drops available to those that can get flagged. Its bad enough that I have no chance of actually producing stuff someone would want to buy at a profit because the raw material items are unobtainable or horrendously expensive in the bazaar, but at least I would like to make nice stuff for myself.

Now that the power players are off playing in GOD (again, oriented to raiding guilds) what about relaxing the requirements of flagging? I mean you still have to invest the AA points, raise your trade skils, buy or farm the items and attempt the combines, why restrict it even more by requiring flags. For that matter, why require flags for progression to any zone at all? Why not make it dependent upon ones ability level to get to a new zone. Why has EQ evolved to a game that panders so much only to a select few?
