  • The Tradeskill UI is also on the GoD Beta. I believe the two are virtually the same (Beta and Test versions). Beta peeps are also helping debug the interface (found several of 'em myself, as a matter of fact).

One AWESOME feature is that it shows the trivials for items ABOVE 250. Yes, finally, a dream come true. Would also explain the incredibly high failure rate on some items too (a few i looked over have trivials hovering around 300 ). Dunno if this will make it to Live servers, but this should be on Test server right now.

      • The new UI also now has an 'Autoinventory' button right below the 'combine' button. So making something and dropping it into inventory is even faster. Whee!

Dunno if they fixed the 'Favorites' not saving or not. Didnt test it.

Examples of stuff trivial over 250:
        Elemental cams: 282
Gem Studded Chains: I think i heard a Trophied person say like 315. It was over 300, i remember... would explain its dreary success rate.

        • ayiyiyiyiyi! I'll try to keep this short.

          1. WOOT communication Brenlo. I hope you're still reading/skimming this thread at this point and see this. Major thanks for the communication.

          2. JC is easy *now*. It's trivial *now*. I didn't go into JC to make money, I went into JC to make stuff for myself and my friends, and for the sense of accomplishment of having 250 skill. If someone else does it with have the time and half the pain, yay them. I'll still congratulate them and feel happy for them, just like others who had it worse than me were happy for me when I dinged 250. Same thing with my husband and brewing. I do it for myself, not for anyone else, and if it makes it more open to more people, all the better. The more the merrier!

          3. I forget who said it, but yes - the market lives and dies and lives and dies in cycles. It has been declared dead for as long as I have played - since 4/2001. And alive. And dead. And alive. And dead. It's like a warrior that keeps getting healed while in the purple.

          4. I think the CE worries are unfounded. The people who buy them from me now won't want to spend the time making them when/if this goes live. If you want the convenience of bazaar-bought CEs now you'll still want it later. And if suddenly I can't sell them? Good vendors adapt. I'll find something else.

I think this is awesome. Mass kudos to the developers. We've been complaining all along that we want something that makes it easier on us, I think this is a great step for that. People complain when nothing changes, people complain when things do change, let's try to not be too negative and scare them off forever. I for one am really excited for this to go live and hope that the developers don't just say "Well, obviously they're ungrateful, **** 'em" and refocus on other things again.

          • If its on Test (and thus available to all), then its not really covered by the NDA Just beta-exclusive stuff.

            • Quick reply to Tudani. You can use the new UI for combines even if you have stuff in the container. I was combining silk threads in a small sewing kit and had it filled with two cracked staffs without realizing it. The weight change when I went to put the kit in the bank was really puzzling me until I actually opened the kit.

WHOOHOO!!! I don't know how many times I've had to go scrambling to try to empty a tradeskill container so I could use it AS a tradeskill container..another minor but VERY cool change.

                • Think of it this way: If there were a button you could press that would get you to level 65, with 500 AAs, best combination of Time/elemental gear, all flags, and all skills, would you still have fun doing it the old fashioned way? Now you see the danger in removing the effort involved in the reward.
Well, since you asked... The game would be a hell of a lot more fun for me. I'd be able to do things I've never done before. Right now, I've done everything for my level, and I'm stuck unless I quit college and live with my parents and not have a job so I can join a guild that organizes comparably to ******'s troops and play 10-15 hours every day. Of course, this is totally unrelated to the thread... but since the can of worms is open... They need to stop adding things that only level 65 Time or Elemental capable guilds can do. LDoN raids is a good example of this. The box says "4-36", not "4-6, or up to 36 for uber guilds". More things like Nagafen and Vox would be good - if they went by the total number of levels between all characters in a guild, rather than an individual character's level. (A zone where, for instance, my medium sized guild could go, but your average Time capable guild would have too many 65's to be allowed in.)

Anyway, all that aside, I love just about everything inthe new interface. I don't think it takes anything out of the effort needed to get to GM in a skill. If the problem is that people are using it to skill and not just to reduce tedium of combines, why not suggest them going over the database and adjusting trivials down on items that can be made entirely from store-bought components. That solves the "I Did It Harder Before You" and potential abuse problems all in one. (And since they're going over recipes to add canLearn and autoLearn anyway, they can just check this while they're at it.)

I think I've been playing too long, I can't even remember when you could only open one bag at a time... I can picture the little box in a box interface in my head, but I just don't remember that much from back then. I made a banded bracer at skill 3 when 10 platinum was a lot of money, and wore the thing forever (and I still have it), I was given the loot for a Short Sword of Morin at level 13 and was ecstatic. I led the largest guild on Bertoxxulous (for a time) that averaged level 40 when I was still 13, and my second-in-command organized a raid to loot and give to me a crystalline blade. Umm... too many other things distract me since then. Now I'm just working on AP, heh... In any case, my point was that I did a lot of the same things the same way as everyone else, and they are honestly not enjoyable for me. I'd probably like blacksmithing or fletching if I could do them in real life, tedious or not, but when it's just a game... no thanks. If I fall asleep at the keyboard having just woke up in the morning after sleeping 10 hours when I try to do skill ups, and I imprint my keyboard on my face before I hit my third skill-up in the process, something is wrong. (Were you guys all taking Nodoze, or something?) Of course, part of it is SOE's attitude of "no tradeskilled item will ever be as good as the best dropped item", which is fine... but the unstated "nor as good as something that can be gotten at the level needed to hunt for or afford the components for a tradeskilled item" is kind of dumb.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah... I love everything about the interface as it is. The only thing I could further suggest is what has been already stated in this thread - add a function to search for any recipe, that you have learned, that uses a particular component in your inventory.

Thank you Altara!! That's great news for me, especially considering that I generally need at least 20 free slots to do any alchemy currently.

Uhm, I saw that too, and I'm not really happy with this. Untill now, you were able to stop macroers (who weren't at keyboard) by dropping an item into 'their' oven/brew barrel/whatever. When the new UI won't look at items inside the container, it will make things much easier for them (once again)...
But I agree that we would get many additional free slots this way.

OK I went to Test, tried a couple of TS combines, but the only thing that showed up was the regular old sewing and fletching kits...No new whiz-bang. Anybody know what might be wrong?

                        • No UI here either.

I also went to test the last night as soon as I heard about this.

I could not get it to come up either and when I /ooc the two folks that responded said it was taken out due to bugs.

Can anyone here verify if this is still coming or why it is gone for good?

                          It sure sounds awesome!!!!

Only suggestion I would have is to take the delay away from clicking the button if it was trivial to you. Some times you just wanna make a bunch of arrows to hunt real quick

                          • not sure if this was mentioned already, but it seem the search is case sensitive.

I searched alot, before (accidently) trying to use the correct case and voila..the recipe was shown

If you knew they were macro'ing why didnt you report them... macro'ing is one of the worst things that can be done in EQ.

Ramoen, was your reply meant for my post that I couldn't get the new UI to show itself? If so, I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "search" ingame. You can search? I'm SO confused...<laughs at self>. Please 'splain what it is I need to do to see this new TS window.
