*nod* Making friends with foragers is always the best solution.
But if I'm taking the time to mash the forage key every time it pops up, and the bags space to old on to half a bag of items I have no use for, I think that anyone telling me that I am ripping them off is out of line. If people didn't buy temper ingediants for 100p, foragers wouldn't charge it. If people didn't buy morning dew for 25p, people wouldn't charge it.
Basically, Strangers have no responsibility to give you a cheap price on something. If I don't know someone, then they're just another customer, and I need their money as much as I need anyone elses.
Again, making friends with a forager, like you've done, is *ALWAYS* the best bet.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled "BAGS IN THE BAZAAR!?!?!?!" topic. Sorry for the hijack.

I happen to disagree with those who think this will be a bad thing. Perhaps for product such as handmade backpacks and rallic packs etc.. things that are easily produced, they will suffer. But Haversacks? I think if anything they will move up. 1
Lets face is the small group of people on each server that can make these bags is not going to spend the time and effort to make them for less than a 1000-2000pp profit. Even then I would say the majority of those that can make the Haversack wont (at least not for bazaar sale) simply because they could make more money farming ornate patterns for 1/5th the time and effort.
Wow I will file this one under "I could care less" .. You know .. I was thinking when this feature is implemented on the live server, I will price the few that I have for 7k, maybe 8k. You know what? People will buy it =)Originally posted by Twistagain
Should they be cheaper than Tink Bags? No, I don't believe they should. But, being a Vah Shir tradeskiller, I don't believe that Halfling Druids should be the only tailors able to make money at the skill...
Riiigghhtt .. because there are soo many halflings with 220+ tailoring. The majority I would wager got their tailoring that high for the aid grimil quest, do you think they care about making Halfling Bags for 2-3k profit? Heck furthermore so they could run macros to forage tufts of dire wolf furs? This is a LOT of assumptions and speculations.Originally posted by TheCraftyBard
That adds up to a lot of players with the ability to churn out a lot of little bags.
And if the majority of the paying EQ userbase wants to get as rich and powerful as possible via the easiest way (ie. making and selling these little bags), that's probably what SOE is going to pander to.
And if enough of this paying EQ userbase is going to set up a simple macro to collect tufts of fur, and spend the rest of their play time killing hill giants, in order to gather the resources to make these little bags, SOE will probably STILL keep pandering to them.
That's a lot of little bags.

I think it's wonderful
I might finally be able to sell some of the various bags I've looted and made. I hope this goes live. As to tailors suffering financially through this... Bah, it's still a nice enough change that I'd rather have it happen than not. It's not as if the haversack ingredients are trivial and inexpensive. The convenience of being able to buy bags without having to set up a meeting with the trader would be worth it IMO.
I know when it comes to any item I can make that takes foraged items I'll charge appropriately for it. It's not free when in the time it takes me to forage a stack I could have made a level or 3-4 AAs. If people (non-friends people) want them for free they're welcome to roll up a ranger and have at it. I've noticed though that they always give up on that. Something about it being too slow and boring. Something about wanting to be out killing things and getting loot instead. The "But you get them for free" argument seems to get lost when people realize that getting a stack of something can take several hours.

well interesting thread...
On stromm, you can't get Haversacks anymore. The few individuals that did make them, no longer do because of the run on BDs, which was fueled by a run on Fierce Heraldic.
However when you could buy them, they were 5k. So, personally I had a good chuckle at the statement on the first page that haversacks would go for 4-5k. Since Stromm opened, the highest I saw was 5.5k. I'm sure they could be much higher (as almost everything else is on Stromm read Fungi Tunic at 570k).
So if this makes it live and on test, I would be ecstatic because the chances would increase that I could actually buy one. Of course, that's assuming that the few tailors would make them.....
