On the bright side at least you know you'll have a cheap source of coldain tempers

won't result in the addition of millions of PP to the economy that, for example, the Pie Tin Sketch fiasco did.
This was exactly what I was worried about... at least bazzar money isn't "Created" by the vendors.. its existing money that is switching hands...

maybe its not entering the economy but your still taking moeny from others for no work yourself other than three steps on your mule and leaving it up while your sleeping. i feel more hate toward cheating ppl than cheating an npc myself. /shrug i make my own anyway but opposed on principle more than anything.

So, if you make your own temper (10pp each), and farm your own velium (free), and buy the spell scroll (13pp each) you can do skill ups to 222 for less than 25pp for each attempt

Um, what tradeskill are we talking about?

Remind me to lurk around Mr Stonecutter's spawn point after the next patch. I could use a nice lump sum of cash from any unwary halfling that wanders nearby...

Pootle, the vendor for the enchant velium spell is also the same vendor that was having an 'Everything Must Go' sale on CVT...and I believe he got GM-killed already on VZ, although I must admit I haven't actually checked yet.

/nod I'm pretty disgusted about the thought of that as well, but at very least at least it isn't destroying the economy by artificially adding millions of plat from nowhere. Unfortunately there isn't any way for us to tell the ones that bought tons of Coldain Tempers from the ones that just make them for profit (except don't buy from people with 8 backpacks full of tempers )

              Malodium: Blacksmithing.

um, you mean to say that there is a recipie in game which renders all post 188 skill-up paths obsolete?
No LDoN armor? No Shadowscream?? No culteral??

This seems like a rather large deal, I wonder how I missed that.
It also makes getting to 222 skill ridiculously easy, which isnt a good thing IMO.

              Am I missing something? hehe

edit: ok I just read the big post about in the smithing forum, hadnt been there a while. Just seems really odd that they would do something like this. Smithing has always been one of the more difficult skills to raise, now it will be pretty easy, at least, quite a bit easier. Maybe they want everyone to be able to get to 220 real fast so they can do the Aid Grimal quest heh.

Ok...assuming around 20 attempts per skillup (and it could be a LOT more considering the 190s) and skilling up from 188-222, you are looking at around 680 attempts.

Those 680 attempts require 680 CVTs, 1360 Small Pieces of Velium, and 680 Enchant Velium scrolls.

Ignoring the CVT mispricing, the CVTs will cost between 6800p and 17680p, depending on whether you brew or buy them.

The scrolls will cost around 8160p.

So, you are looking at around 25K+ to get 34 skillpoints IF you farm over a thousand pieces of velium. If you buy them at 10p each (which is cheap on my server...way cheap), add another 10K.

I fail to see how this TRIVIALIZES anything. Is it easier than Shadowscream? Sure, maybe. Is it cheaper than some other routes? Sure. But trivial??

                  Sorry for the Bump, but

I cannot find Nimren to save my life. After the last patch, he's gone. Does he have a timer? Should I just be patient? Have been there 3 days in a row and no Nimren. Thanks!

                    Alluveal: He's still permakilled.

Twistagain: After spending over 15kpp per point after 203, yes, i'd say 35k for 35 points would be totally trivial! I'd be THRILLED to get them so cheaply. Somehow, it's not in the cards for me. I got to 250 smithing the new-fashioned way, farming windstones and blue diamonds

The enchanted velium bits also have *no* resale value. While routes like LDoN, sickles, cultural and to a lesser extent Acrylia all can be resold to recover a significant portion of the costs (and in some cases even turn a profit), the cost of the enchanted velium bits is ALL lost.

cost of temper + pieces of velium + spell scroll = !

                        vs.

cost of cultural temper + coldain temper + celestial temper + enchanted bricks of mithril (plus finding enchanter) + leather paddings + ... = a lot

I see your point, 1k is nothing to sneeze at. But comparatively, it's trivial Your mileage may vary.

Workin on Tailoring actually, and it's about up to 190. I gave up on LoY robes when I spent 3 hours in Nektulos foraging glow lichen and ended up with 4. Not to mention, some of the dye foraged items are just as bad.

So, I opted for Velious. I just did the recipe today (a'la blum blum in CS and a few other things found in POK.) Celestial essence is pretty common in the bazaar (3pp per vial) so I bought a few hundred of those. The biggest pain has been the velium and acquiring the blocks to make the bits (then the studs.) I farmed Velks for an hour and a half and got enough velium to make a stack of studs. Pain in the tooshie, though.

Been looking at other recipes, though. Money is dwindling away. My tailoring was at around 160. I have gone through at least 100kpp trying various recipes. I hope to find the right one soon.

I suppose it depends on if its easy for you to farm velium. My 65 wiz has no problem, other than trying to find CC uncamped.
So for me it would have been much easier than farming swirling shadows and substances, which I used to skill up from 188 all the way to 250.

Frankly this was a god-send for me. I'm a halfling. We have ONLY ONE feasible skillup route and that was shadowscream. Hmmm, think about this... If it wasn't possible for non-vahshir to get the hammer and anvil, I would have ZERO, count em now, zero feasible routes to skill up. And being a melee type mearly compunds this problem because I am unable to AE the camps needed for the drop.

At least this route, I have a hope in hell of seeing skillups.

I wondered why the market for velium on Sol Ro just went insane--50p for a small piece of velium, and people are BUYING at that price, insane.
