For some reason, looks like Thurs gets bugged right after every patch, /teehee. Last time it was a vendor selling free and buying at normal cost... this time it's a vendor selling CVT for no money at all, but all vendors will not buy anymore...

Someone in serverwide said that SOE can't take away CVTs because the tradeskilled item and thebought item have the same ID tag, so who's to say that someone didn't just go on a CVT brewing binge? Not that anyone in their right mind WOULD, but there are plenty of people (myself included ^_^) who are not in our right minds....

Apparently the vendorman was removed on all live (non-european) servers already, but I will not speculate what they will do.

Only reason i found the problem was i was getting tempers for a legit reason, the new smithing skillup route, tryin to get that last point to 200. When i realized the price was 0 money, i noticed a naked, anon toon at the same vendor, who went to the bank.. and then back to the vendor... and then another naked toon doing the same thing. I wrote their names down and if they fix the price, im gonna report em asap.

You know, I have a very very bad feeling about that 0.

The fact that both the buying and selling prices were changed heavily suggests that they are going to make them No Drop.

        Why?

Because we can make them now.

Given how many recipes use Coldain Velium Tempers, it's going to seriously suck for quite a number of people if they DO become no drop. So glad I'm 247 Smithing and way past needing them badly now...

This is a case where I seriously hope I'm wrong.

Same for me. I bought something like 29 tempers (to use my current velium stock) before noticing the price. "Self,", I say to myself, "Something ain't right here." I look again. Yup, still 0 money.

I bugged it, then use up 21 of the tempers (trivial EVB whee) and destroyed the rest.

What's tradeskilling without a little pain and suffering?

I made, COUNT EM 186 of these yesterday, BEFORE I heard they were free in Thurg.

They better be REAL careful about what ones they delete off the server, cause I will NOT be please if they delete the ones I made. Those things are such a tremendous pain in the greaves to make!!!

Probably the best way to 'fix' this long-term is to leave the buy/sell price as zero, remove them from Nimren Stonecutter's inventory (and instead get the stuff to brew the Coldain Heaters added to the Brewing Vendors in Thurgadin).

This will mean no huge amounts of cash need enter the economy (if they change the price back to what it was), and give some more work to the player Brewers by having something with a real market.

Alternatively, they could change the merchant buy-back price 1cp but return the sell price to the 26p5g level.... I guess someone might make a profit of maybe 100 PP (if they had 100k tempers), but I think the Economy can absorb that.

There is only one way to fix this problem.

Set vendor sell rate at 1 copper. This invalidates the manual way of making them, but at the same time it makes it to where it is much less likely that anyone will be able to sell in the BAZZAR these items that they bought for nothing.

I realize that someone making money in the bazzar does not enter plat into the world, but they are still getting something for nothing

                  Hello pie tin sketches v2.0

Edit: I was wrong.. the other method of fixing this would be make it NODROP, but then you screw over all the people who made them to sell in the bazzar the old fashioned way.

As proven with the LDoN armor changes, what they could do is essentially make a new item. All existing CVTs ingame buy/sell for 0, and the newCVTs buy for 26pp and sell for ~10pp, just like previously. It would mitigate the damage somewhat (by preventing profit off of merchant sellback) but not entirely (wouldn't prevent Bazaar issues), and it would require that they have two versions of every single recipe requiring a CVT - one using oldCVT, one using newCVT (since they would be unique items). Given the magnitude of recipes that probably involves, and the fact that they've messed up even cut-and-paste recipes in the past (hey, they're human too), it seems like that would lead to a lot of hastle for a good chunk of the forseeable future.

But it would be one means of 'fixing' it.

(Personally, I just refilled my personal stock with the 0 CVTs - none for resale. Seemed the best middle ground between completely avoiding the bug (the best choice), and exploiting the hell out of it (the most stereotypically tempting choice). Depending how my conscious goes, I might wind up destroying um all anyhow, heh)

How is this enormously different from leaving Nimren selling these at 0cp? You could buy a whole backpack full for under 1pp.

As for making a new item and changing the prices, and the recipes, yes, this IS possible, but it's a LOT of work, and probably error-prone too.

What he meant was change the sell back price to 1 cp. So those people that bought 8000 tempers, sell for 1cp each and make only 8pp. Then the only thing they can do is sell them in bazaar for like 10pp each, cheaper then cost to make, but keeps plat from flooding in.

well I only bought a couple stacks cause i needed them for the shawl. I didn't 'Load up" on em cause I was afraid that I would be getting a tell from a GM about it if i did and I did not want to get a toon I had been working on for 6 months suspended. I don't think very many people on my server knew about it. I know I didn't tell a single person and I spent half the day in thurg and I only seen a couple people exploiting it. Anyway's I think soe will just do their best to forget about the situation and move on. as far as the sellback price I fugure that's not a worry most peeps will sell in the bazaar they can sell these for more than 4 plat 7 gold anyway's.

Did this go live on the 4th or 5th?

On the 4th (like Balkin) I made close to 200 of these things. Took me about 3 hours of constant clicking. I think I will go berserk if I log on to find out that these have been removed from my bank.

Frankly, i really don't care if someone got 8 naked toons full of coldain tempers and sell em all for profit in the bazaar. Heck, I'm still mad that I missed out on the mass imbue plains pebble spell...

Not being able to fill my smithing orders on the 2 days a week i am willing to spend smithing, is REALLY annoying. Please put the seller guy back in!
