Human Cultural have it worst than high-elves imo.
Two essence of sunlight - rare drop off of Sand Giants and Chromodrakes. Sand Giants constantly camped for either AC or enchanter epic in oasis. Chromodrakes *shiver* in skyfire, constant constant dispelling, near impossible except for fear kiters. OR 400pp a pop in bazaar, each. This is on prexus (one of the older servers so our prices are normally drastically low).
The other two components are some what easier...
Rain water - uncommon off of gnolls in splitpaw or at spires in SK
Griffenne Blood - uncommon off of griffenes and higher, MUCH easier since JPF went live, very much.
I do feel sympathy for you though - I need morning dews and oak bark for woodie fletching... sure i can forage but after the 4 rth hour or so dodging undead in kith or having to deal with constant newbie tells (even with anon afk invised) in gfay / lfay.
They could make these all vendor items, and dropped items, just like ore. But make it more exspensive. I would gladly pay 100pp per sunlight from a vendor.
    --------------------------------------------
    anyways...

This announcement means they are atleast giving a little thought to tradeskills. Like with LDoN, the smithed items are great, semi-easy attainable ingredients, both foraged and dropped in dungeons with awesome stats (well better than the fine plate i was making for skill points).
You laugh because I'm different; I laugh because your all the same.

Shadow temper = 2 shadow essence, 1 elf blood, 1 neriak nectar

brick to block = 3 large bricks, neriak nectar

Elf temper = 2 essence of moonlight, 1 swirling mist, 1 morning dew

brick to block = 3 large bricks, morning dew

I know of what I speak, thanks. Each of the 3 high elf components are harder to get than the corresponding dark elf one and the morning dew requirement for working ore is insane.

...asking for recipes for fishing that bridge any trivial gap.
How you choose to raise your skill in fishing is of course your choice. Making fishing flies has always been a traditional craft of pride and I would like to see it expanded just a bit further.

At least, to consider the use of shadling silk threads.

... fishing lures are a waste of time and ingredients

... You're better off using Catch-A-Lot or Animated Bait than the player-made lures, since they are used up just like bait.
This is your opinion and perhaps based on stats and cost benefits of using the store bought bait. The enjoyment I've gained spending hours tieing flies whilst fishing is priceless.

I'm glad you enjoy it. Personally I refer to Allakantspellit's TFTD Archive for this:

There is an old Norrathian proverb that goes "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will be bored for a lifetime"
I did get a lot of use fishing for Iceclad Cuttlassfish, Cobalt Cod, & Kunzar Koi, but the only thing I have ever combined in a (Collapsable) Tackle Box is Blessed Fishing Rods for the Solstice Quest, er...my vendor.

Celestial temper is a component of several cultural tradeskills. I think that was designed so the high-end cultural would not flood the market, but considering what armor is available these days, having essence of sunlight a more common drop would not be unreasonable.

With a small change to just a couple of the base recipes from requiring morning dew to using elven wine instead:
            - block of mithril (requires 1 dew)
            - enchanted block of mithril (requires 1 dew)
            - enchanted mithril rings (requires 2 dew - 1 for block of mithril; 1 to make into combine)
            - folded sheet of mithril (requires 2 dew)
            - mithril rings (requires 1 dew)
this would remove a huge headache from most high elf smiths. The morning dew component could remain for the moonlight temper, which is used in most of the final combines (which, from a roleplaying standpoint, seems perfectly reasonable to me). Also, the change from morning dew to elven wine would bring the recipes in line with the Brellium recipes, which use dwarven ale.

Additionally, if morning dew was added to the drop table for many of the common mobs in Greater/Lesser Faydark, where it's foragable to begin with, I think this would hold as plausible: wouldn't it make sense for pixies, faeries, and wasps to drop morning dew, as all 3 would drink such a thing for sustanance?

On another side question of cultural oddities: why have velium in ANY cultural armor combines? Were these cultures incapable of making armor before Velious was discovered?

I was thinking to suggest removing diety restrictions from cultural armor but then I remembered such versions already exist. (duh!) Sooo, why not, on cultural armor that only has 1 diety at the moment, simply change the diety tags to read any of the dieties that that particular race can worship? It would require a smaller amount of database changes versus creating a whole duplicate set of recipes, although from an RPG standpoint the "duplicate" recipes should exist. (ie. set of high elf diety-imbued armor made with imbued diamonds for Mithaniel Marr, wru?) There's a Luclin item, I can't remember the name, that has diety restrictions like that.

Of course humans have it lucky in that they can already imbue their plate for most dieties... but isn't the whole point of "cultural" tailoring/smithing to show off the skills of that character's *racial abilities*? If I am a Mithaniel Marr-worshipping high elf, I would hope that I can make armor imbued to my own diety, and not just that annoying Tunare.

Thanks for getting all this posted -- normally I make it a point to go to the Tradeskill forums at Fan Faire but I just completely missed them this time!

Being a DE smith, I don't know much about HE smithing :P Was just confused why anyone would compare neriak nectar (shop purchased) with morning dew (dropped/foraged ?)

Comparing the two, maybe substitutine a shop purchased item (elven wine) for the morning dew would make things a little better.

I don't know how difficult the essence of moonlight or swirling mist are.
Shadow essence is a PITA to get, rare off shadowmen, and elf blood from the bandit sisters in kelethin (have heard it also drops in LoY, but not hunted there much)

so shadow temper = 2xshadow essence (rare), 1xelf blood (not so rare), 1xneriak nectar (shop purchased)

Elf temper = 2 essence of moonlight (rare?), 1 swirling mist(rare?), 1 elven wine

brick to block = 3 large bricks, elven wine

Yes, high elf smiths have been asking for that for 2 years. It's doubly amusing since no high elves can forage (although some time ago they added morning dew drops).

In response to the source of elf blood, Elf Blood is pretty common in Dulak Harbor, in LoY. I've gotten several off of the dark elves at the Gunthak zoneline as well as from some in the warehouses and ships.

It doesn't drop all of the time, but if you went there intent on farming it, you could get a decent amount in a short period of time, I think.

You forget Gamer that YOU and all other humans have 2 that is right 2 paths to 250 smithing. Freeport and Qeynos cultural and I am sorry the components for Sea Temper are easy to get if you are 55+ and do not mind wasting a night in OOT.

Getting back to Qeynos Armor well I hunted for Exp and other things in SkyFire for around 5 levels before and am about to go back again. Chroma Drakes are a JOKE if you can slow them... So you loose some buffs, just go and pull them all if you get one. I have given a Human smith in my guild around 20 of the sunlights cause I know they are a bit of a pain.

To address Angahran, while I would LOVE to see wine used in all steps I can tell you that most High elves I have talked to would be happy to see elven wine used for the interum steps and the Dew still as the requirement for the Temper, but I like your idea more.

The ideas and concerns surrounding the trophies, and their inability to yield different, permanent bags, are known. The desire and effort put into the items is known and appreciated. Should any amicable solution arise, it will be seriously considered.
Well if the last statement is true, i have a few ideas based on other items I have seen.

One way to distinguish them..have a lore tag. (as in the different dragon scales, or the vampire ashes in TM)

The other way would be simple. Make different bags. For example. Have the Grandmasters Jewlery Eye summon.

                        Grandmasters Jewlery kit.
                        Magic, No Rent, No Drop
                        Wt 0.4 , Weight reduction 100% , 10 slot, hold Giant.
(and make it into a jewlery bag.)

And when you turn those in to the gnome

                        Grandmasters Delux Jewlery kit.
                        Magic, Lore, No Drop
Wt. 0.4 Weight reduction 100% 10 slot, holds Giant.
(And same as the other, make it into a jewlery kit.)
                        Sir Anarus Silverstar
                        Lord Protector of Mithanial Marr
                        Quintara Phoenix
                        (Tunare server)
