Only problem with that idea is that the snake eggs aren't for clumps of dough...they're the ingredients of the main recipe. And I've found Jaggedpine a much more efficient place to farm basilisk eggs. Can usually get 3 stacks an hour.

Yeah, I just realized the recipies...I was thinking of Halas pies. I spent about an hour in the Paineel noob zone and got about 4 stacks of snake eggs for the new GoD recipies. Just killed everything in sight to get the zone to respawn snakes. From my experience, I think its just easier to make the halas pies for skilling rather than the new GoD recipies...then move on to MTPs or Holy Cakes. The stats arent that great and the amount of time needed to get snake eggs just doesnt seem worth it imo. When thinking about time farming vs money spent, I would rather spend the time killing mobs and getting phat lewt (and xp to boot) to support my baking...

        HMP vs MTP

Recently finished off baking because it was fun. Tried one batch of HMP's and even with the new UI it took forever. Found that, although I got less skillups with MTP's, I could set up a run of 100 combines and perform it in under 5 minutes. Took about 4 hours to go from 200 to 244. Just park a level 1 toon in Rivervale to transfer you some Jum, and a couple toons in the bazaar to hold the final product (you will wind up with over one toon worth of picnics by the time you finish) and you're set. I made a stack of jumjum cakes at a time and dont think I ever failed a cake cutting on them.

Closer to trivial may net more skillups, but if it takes you five times the time to get twice the points.... well...

          on patty melts

this info is already in the database but i figured I'd post it here:
When doing patty melts if you have GoD you don't ever have to leave Abysmal Sea other than initially to get the mold for the frypan. meat and bread are sold by the baking vendors, and cheese is sold by the general supplies vendor in the same room. He also sells the alcohols needed for beer-battered stuff. About the only thing not sold there are eggs, which previous posts already detail great methods for getting.

            If you have a brewer...

then the Beer-Battered Tuna and Crab recipes are your new path to 250. Cost is less than 1pp per combine (mostly for the pricy Cup of Sugar). You do need to fish (in Natimbi) and forage (anywhere, you need veggies), and of course, you need access to GoD zones. It is a minor zoning pain, AFAIK all the bits for the beer batter are not avaialble in any one zone (no red wine in Abysmal, no short beer in PoK, etc.)

Of course, if you have to buy the tuna/crab meat or veggies, or don't have GoD, then you'll have to fall back on older recipes.

There is red win in Abysmal... Dray Cuves sells it. He's also right next to Phranz Tyudin who sells vinegar, sugar, and Ground Pepper for barbeque sauce. There also just happens to be a brew barrel right there.

I'm using bbq tuna and bat wings up to 190, then going over to pies.

Skilling up baking is fairly simple.

0-53 newbie baking quest in AS
54-135 fish rolls (1 fresh fish + 1 batwing. Go to PoK to western trade center. Barb fisher has the fish, DE merchant has the batwings. Bring your own spit)
136-191 patty melts (in AS you never have to leave the zone, just grab a nonstick frying pan from bazaar and get cooking)
192-220 Beer-Battered Cragbeast Steaks (by the way, 5 stamina, 7 wisdom, and decent HP/Mana is an awsome stat food for any wis caster or hybrid)
                221-250 MTP

Short beer and red wine are now available in AS. Not sure if they weren't before, but you can get all ingredients for the beer batter in the same room now. Dray Cuves sells the alcohol pre-mixed for you.

It looks like one of the recent patches may have "broken" Abysmal Sea's fishing table. My fishing is 200 and in the past I have reeled in more fish than I can handle in a short period of time (thanks to the fact that they come in various weight-levels, yielding several combine-worths per catch). Today when I went to continue my slow and steady grind to GM-baker, I was able to catch nothing but Fresh Fish (and the rare junk such as sandals and daggers). Hopefully this is a temporary problem that will be fixed.

Devs are aware of the fishing bug and are either working on a fix for it or are waiting for next patch to upload the fix. See EQ Forum at http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/...sage.id=150459

I did something a little different with an alt.

I placed my 65 necro in Abysmal to fish and buy pepper and short beer for the beer batter. I took her cooking up to 130 on the basics and she could fish and make crabmeat and tuna from the fish as she caught them. You can't fish with something on the cursor but you can cast then do 3-4 combines until you either catch something or fail. When I got to the point where I needed eggs I sent her to the basilisk caves. It's just 2 zones away. Passed these things over via the shared bank then my main only had to leave the guildhall to buy the supplies for beer batter or bat wings, milk and veg supplies all of which are close. I tried doing anaconda and griffon melts but fishing has much better returns than meat drops from killing.

I'm up to 252 now. I plan to go to Veg omelets with cheese using some coarse salt a guildie gave me. Once that runs out I guess I'm going to MTPs or foraging for salt with my baby druid. <shudder>
