I've been skilling up Baking with my Monk recently (for Bristlebane Party Platters) and from 191 to 222 I made Beer-Battered Hynid and Cragbeast Steaks. I bought all of the meat on the Maguses (Magi?) in Natimbi, Nedaria and the Abysmal Sea, presumably sold to them by people foraging around Natimbi. The Steaks have the major advantage of not needing anything that isn't vendor-sold other than the meat.

From 222 upwards, I'm making Beer-battered (Hynid/Cragbeast) Pie, which requires 2 egg batters and 1 vegetables per pie in addition to vendor-only ingredients. Now that vegetables can be made by combining carrot+turnip+lettuce, this means I only need to farm some Basilisk Eggs for this. I did try clearing the Basilisk caves in Jaggedpine, but got ZERO eggs from them (about 25 basilisks) so I went back to Lavastorm, and got 1-2 eggs from each of the 6 or so low-level basilisks in the southern half of the zone.

Once the Pies triv out, it'll be on to the Souffles, which will need 50% more eggs per combine, but otherwise no real difference.

The normal mobs " a cave basilisk" do not drop eggs, only the "a cave basilisk genitor" drop the eggs. Your luck with the random number generator, was just bad. In my experience that genitors are about 10-15% of the spawns and can drop 0-6 eggs. The respawn is about 8 minutes. There are a total of 21 spawn points, and depending on your method / level you should have no problem getting 2 full tacks (40 eggs) per hour if you are clearing them all.

As a note, the genitors are KOS (mothers protecting their eggs?) while the regular genitors are only dubious and they are not social (they will not assist or attack uless attacked). All are level 30 to 34 and max hit from 69 to 74 based on level.

I got 50 eggs in about 30 minutes in Lavastorm, I just killed everything that moved around that area (basilisks, lava crawlers, elementals) and fresh spawns were popping as fast as I killed. So, while the basilisks might be a decent place to combine levelling a lowbie alt with farming, for pure egg farming lavastorm wins handily.

          20 (from JPF) x 15 = 300

          50 (from LSM) x 5 = 250

          Your call.

You're mistaken. The eggs from the Lavastorm basilisks also make 15 batter or 15 dough each. 50 from LSM x 15 = 750.

Ah, good to know. In times past only the basilisk eggs from JPF yielded 15, other basilisks eggs yielded 5.

Actually I've been farming eggs from Lavastorm since about Velious I got to maximum baking at that time with chocolate cakes.... and it's been 15 since that time for "Basilisk Egg". It's the foraged "Basilisk Eggs" that make 5.

                    Confused and need help.

                    Hopefully you all can help.

Yesterday I made 70 Misty Thicket Picnics and did not receive a single skill up. Is there a limit to the trivial before you gain a skill-up or is this just bad luck?

                    My info:
                    Baking 232
                    Trophy level 5 = + 5%
                    Modified skill of 243

                    MTP triv. 332.

                      it is simply bad luck

as u go higher and higher in your base skill level expect some even longer runs without a skill up. i have personally went over 250 without a skill up
