    RE: The Cockroach foraging.

Its a lot less prohibiting than you would think .. there are only 4 things on the forage table in PoJ, and most of them are useful in that painful 191-208 territory:

    Water
    Cockroach
    Justice Fruit
    Bread Crumbs

PoJ is a wonderful forage zone until Cockroaches and then Breaded Storm Salmon triv.

      PoJ forages

Actually there is a fifth ultra rare item that you can forage in PoJ. What is this ultra rare, at most 1 per hour forage? A simple root. Come on with all the trees in the GY you would expect to have roots once in a while wouldnt' you? Overall from my xp in PoJ foraging I get 50% bread crumbs 40% Roaches 9.5% Fruit and 0.5% Roots

IMO, foraging in PoJ is the best if you are looking at the grey area of skilliing up past 191 and dont want to farm or vendor mine. As others have mentioned 3 recipies are available and the non usable stuff (water and root) are the rarest of the items that come up from the zone foraging table.

I am doing pretty good as I 2 box my cleric in Plane of Storms fishing for the thunder salmon and power forage a druid in PoJ. Every once in awhile I run over and pick up the bread crumbs and cockroaches while fishing and unfold my gnome spit. /hug tinkers!

(actually this is a change I would make on your guide: you reference the combines on fish in the planes as only being done in a tanaan oven. These combines with the thunder salmon bread crumbs sauces and garnish work in the collapsable oven that is tinkered)

I agree, if you are a forager, foraging in Plane of Justice seems to be the simplest thing to do. Candied Cockroaches to 202, breaded fish to ~220, justice fruit to 250. Everything in the combines can be merchant bought or made from merchant bought items, or fished. Since PoJ's forage table only consists of 4 things (5 if you include the root, but I've never foraged a root during the month or so i've sat there and foraged), of which 3 of them can be used for baking, it seems a better reward/time than farming items.

            Okay, finally got this finished...

Filleting meat and using expensive alchemy ingredients have been taken out, thanks for pointing out the costs.

I've ended up doing a foraging in PoJ section in the 200+ section to cover the cockroach/fish/pie route.

I've totally rejigged the bit of maximising successes ... to be honest I don't like this section at all, there are just too many different recipes to choose from. But I also hated to lose Foxtars Freeport guide and I really don't want to imply that fishrolls are the only option (even if they are clearly the easiest option). Feel free to recommend improvements.

Added in references to collapsible spits for the pop stuff, hope I caught them all.

I may well have broken something in the process of shifting things around. As always, I'm grateful for any comments to help me keep this simple to use for new bakers.

Being an Iksar, I have a problem because the rest of the races rightfully fear our tendency to see them mainly as baking ingredients and so tend to attack me on sight. So when the strange book appeared in the Field of bone, and I found out how to use it to transport me to New Tannan, I was delightfully surprized at the ingredients I had gained access to.

As has been stated before, the fastest way to 135 is Fish Rolls. Get a spit and go to the back end of PoK (directly opposite the "Neutral" ports like nexus, go AROUND the library) the Tir'Dal (that's Dark Elf for those not so culturally inclined or the slang term "smurf") merchant sells, among other things, batwings. I have confirmed he sells them from stock because I have visited him just after a server reset and he still had them. On the other side of the pool is a big stinky human (I think they call them selves "barbarians"; truly, a better title could not be found) fisherman that sells the fresh fish.

Here is what has not yet been said about fish rolls: They are the perfect food (excluding those that give stats) for monks! Wt is only .1 and it is a banquet sized meal. So us monks, who have to watch our weight, can carry around a stack or two and not have to worry about ungainly poundage to slow us down. Also, it makes great "filler" food for those who want to make their stat food last. It's tiny size so it'll fit in just about any container (except for a quiver). So for about 25pp you make enough fish rolls to triv them and to keep you in fish rolls for a VERY long time. You'll never have to worry about eating (blech) rations again.

The people in Jaged Pines almost certainly will react the same way everyone else to my scaly appearance. Is there anywhere else you might be able to obtain cheese for the melts?

I did try not to forget the evil races:

Note there are two cheese vendors in Jagged Pine (human and gnoll), so you can buy whatever your alignment. Head over to a butcher (Thurgadin or Shadow Haven).

The gnoll may sell to ogres, trolls, and Tir'dal, but they will NOT sell to Iksar. Iksar are UNIVERSALLY hated by ALL races with the sole exception of some of those inhabitants on the moon such as Vah Shir and Shadow Haven. Of course, even there I must sneak behind the merchants for them to do business with me.

perhaps I can get a friend to invis me for a merchant run or something...

                    Good Guide

Nice guide here, I am currently raising my baking skill with Halas 10lb meat pie, and I seem to gain a skill point every 20 combines.
Gathering the fillet for the final combine is troublesome but it's ok ; it's just long to make. Though, what I find frustrating is that you can still fail trivial combines of which are far below your current skill.
The yield is also a pain, I have stocked more than 500 Halas 10lb meat pie on a mule and even gave away tons of them to people wandering around.
EQ will be over before I will eat them all. I guess I will give a stack or two to every guild member instead.

                      Have you confirmed this there?

I will double-check this later tonight, but when Jagged Pine was first launched, I met an Iksar friend there and showed him the gnoll vendors and banker, which he used without issue.

Having to sneak in SH isn't an iksar-specific issue, you just need to do the faction quest.

For Quichon or anyone with acceptance problems in JPF I would recommend you do an ooc in zone and ask a druid to give you wolf form. Druids are usually thicker than fleas on a hound dog here and wolf form both last longer than invis and is user friendly with both people and critters (except griffs and potemaids). I have done this several time and almost always will if a player identifies themself as a tradeskill person .

Faymar, I bow to your extensive work on this subject. Without you and other such dedicated trades persons EQ would have dried up for me long ago. I would never have the patience to discover these formulas on my own.

I also encourage you to continue to provide as much information as possible. Choices are better made with more input. If some think "out of the box" and find a better "best" way, it will open new paths to others. For the vast majority this URL is a feast to be enjoyed. For those that want only the very simplest of answers so they can PL their skills with the least amount of thinking. ...well, please don't let their impatience dilute this stew.

This is incorrect. I have now personally taken an iksar there and bought cheese. There is no issue buying from the gnolls nor using their bank.

If anyone can find a race that can NOT buy from the gnolls (halflings are fine, possibly high elves are not?) could you please post here?

I highly suggest the JP recipes(especially the griffon and anaconda melts) for skill ups because they are the easiest by far. There aren't many items needed and very few required, plus it's a small combine. Unfortunately, it seems like plant shoots forage more rarely now but if you they are still an added bonus while hunting griffons and anacondas. One thing about your list: I saw anaconda melts listed but not the griffon ones. Griffon melts provide another route and add to the potential yield of skill ups because they provide yet another recipe from this zone. If you're a baker then there's no better place than JP to farm items for the best recipes on your way to 250, especially if you can track.

You are right, I refer to melts up top (in the JP section) but then drop the subject again. I remember thinking casseroles were nice because they have stats, but melts are definitely quicker. I'll fix this.
