I had three pieces of information:
    1. SOE does not present recipes to us as this website does and sometimes the information presented is incomplete. If the recipe is incomplete, there is usually some kind of hint.
    2. The book "Small Mysteries of Ice".
    3. Ngreth is an ogre so at heart he is evil.
I tried the recipe as stated in the book, just as all of you had. DNC of course. First thought was the recipe was busted but I soon decided that I was just plain missing something.

So I examined the recipe in the book looking for clues. I keyed in on the word etch and the Dihedral Burin listed as part of the recipe. From my experience with poisons and potions I immediately thought of acid. I tried every type of acid I could get my hands on. DNC, again and again.

At about this point it was getting hard to think. The throbbing pain in my forehead that I had from pounding my head into a brick wall was rather distracting. I decided to sleep on it.

The next morning it hit me. Ink, Spell Research uses ink. The only question was, "What type of ink could possibly be associated with frost and ice?"

One final note: This all occured during beta. I kept quiet about my discovery because I am even more evil than Ngreth. :P
There is also the fact that it is not that unknown for the Ogre to make a mistake I certainly intended to include ink int he book, but it looks like I missed it!

Pfft, shoulda gone with the "ngreth is evil" line, then you can be mean to folks and they are less likely to complain!

Wonder what the folks of Norrath think of Brodder's recipes and quests?

I know some of the quests I wrote over 5 years ago made folks go crazy, especially me after they got tweaked so I wouldn't be able to spill the beans and they were so into the time sink idea back then. I poke my finger into the eye of that Vision!

I tried to keep things simple, yet somehow they got twisted. The hot sauce fiasco from Brodder's revenge was a big one, but they finally owned up and fixed it years later. All I had to go on was my notes, my submissions and the return emails to give hints to the gang here.

Now i"m waiting on yall to get the brewers cracking on making Lite Bean Ale so you can get all the muck you want to make chewie chews!

I'd go for "CORNFLUNK's REVENGE" who said he was original?

The Super Conductive Wires are also used in the Cloak of Greater Pernicity quest.

                  Ngreth,

Any updates on changes to the Dihydrous Oxide Glaciator recipe? or being able to clean the superconductive wires so they are droppable or something?

                  Thanks!

From the patch message for the Mar 14 patch:

                    - The Dihydrous Oxide Glaciator now requires a shiny bundle of superconductive wires. This is made simply by cleansing the wires with celestial solvent.

Ngreth, I could kiss you. (Except I am a male Tunare worshipping ranger which would make kissing you wrong on waaaaaay too many levels. Besides Den Mother would probably hurt me.)

Is the new one lore? For that matter, was the original one lore? I forget.

                      Thanks!

Original one was lore but I don't know if the new one is lore or not yet. It does help the tinkers who are high enough to try but are not level 46+ required to get in PoI.

The shiny bundle isn't lore. So I guess the celestial solvent washes the little sticker that says LORE off them.

That's some powerful stuff! Why didn't we think of this before?

I'll try it on some of my old LORE, NO TRADE, gear and see if I can sell it off in the bazaar...

PS: Anyone else want to sign the petition for "Ngerth - Employee of the Month?" Maybe they can re-assign him to the EQPlayers leaderboard team, so we can get something done there.
