looks like it's been solved, ladies and gents!

    Empowered Ice of Velious:
    1 Vial of Viscous Mana
    1 Rune of Frost
    1 Ice of Velious
    1 Dihedral Burin
    1 Ink of E'ci
In: a Spell Research Kit, Trivial is 200
On success returns: 1 Empowered Ice of Velious, 1 Dihedral Burin, 1 Rune of Frost.

    Dihydrous Oxide Glaciator:
    1x empowered ice of velious
    1x enchanted electrified copper
1x Bundle of super conductive wires
    1x dark matter
    1x mana batter class six
    1x battery casing 6
In: a toolbox, triv 310 tinkering

Now what I wanna know is how did that guy think to use the ink?? Having never done researching before I would have never thought of that!

    edit:
Ngreth: Thanks for supporting us and for putting this change in!! I realized on the way home though, that one of the components for the Dihydrous Oxide Glaciator is a Bundle of super conductive wires. This piece is NODROP, which prevents us from farming it and giving the pieces to a tinkerer for the final combine. The tinkerer must farm this drop themselves. Is this intentional? Can we get this changed?

well the name Dihydrous Oxide Glaciator ( from now on just DOG) means soemthing like water icemaker btw. you know H20 ( dehydros oxide) and glaciator is a thing that erhm glaciates. Aka making ice. So the product is a water icemaker.

Now someone may wanna check it. Maybe in an icecone churn (water + DOG ) or some of the other containers mentioned above.

who knows. Id do it but dont have a churn msyelf.

Im thinking maybe it returns the DOG like its a tool. or is it a container and you didnt mention it above ?

Dihydrous Oxide Glaciator + water in iccecream churn makes 80 (?) ice as another post states.

My post had nothing to do with the combo, just that the item does not appear on the eqplayer item database and this always happens when an item is first found or made.

EDIT: WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YAY *grin* me gnomette make the very first one server wide *puffs out gnomish chest*

It is for a quest for sure. So I will have to think on it. (It is part of what "summons" the clockwork dragon) but I will consider it. I did forget that it was for that quest until just now

Maybe just change the recipe to use one or more Coiled Springs (from PoI) or Clockwork Gnome Spring (from Corathus Creep) ?

Might be better than changing a no-drop quest piece.

Perhaps a way to make the no trade item tradeable. A simple no fail combine that fits the recipie would work nicely. Such as Bundle of Super Conductive Wires + Celestial Solvent in a mixing bowl = Cleaned Super Conductive Wires that are tradeable but now no good for any quests. That should be fairly easy to do and keep everybody mostly happy.

That's a pretty good idea, too

Perhaps even call them Vorton's Super Conductive Bundle in honor of that excellent suggestion!

                                ...

                                ...

It is a long and sad story of pain and frustration over a period of about two days. The short version is:

I had three pieces of information:
                                1. SOE does not present recipes to us as this website does and sometimes the information presented is incomplete. If the recipe is incomplete, there is usually some kind of hint.
                                2. The book "Small Mysteries of Ice".
                                3. Ngreth is an ogre so at heart he is evil.
I tried the recipe as stated in the book, just as all of you had. DNC of course. First thought was the recipe was busted but I soon decided that I was just plain missing something.

So I examined the recipe in the book looking for clues. I keyed in on the word etch and the Dihedral Burin listed as part of the recipe. From my experience with poisons and potions I immediately thought of acid. I tried every type of acid I could get my hands on. DNC, again and again.

At about this point it was getting hard to think. The throbbing pain in my forehead that I had from pounding my head into a brick wall was rather distracting. I decided to sleep on it.

The next morning it hit me. Ink, Spell Research uses ink. The only question was, "What type of ink could possibly be associated with frost and ice?"

One final note: This all occured during beta. I kept quiet about my discovery because I am even more evil than Ngreth. :P
