I was under specific orders to make this rare. I can bring it up with the person who gave me the order.

I expect this will not change as long as food can be "stored for stats" and not eaten for stats, but I can ask.

Sea dragon meat would be very rare. Ive atleast seen several of these over the years.

Nest dragon meat, would be beyone ultra rare. Never saw a single meat drop from my guilds don raids.

      ----------------------

Personally i would revamp food so you cant save it. Apply the stats of the last food eaten(with mabye a duration of 72 minutes a eq day, not too short that it will fade during an encounter but not too long either, 36 minutes half an eq day would make more sense, but would be annoying, it would fade during quite a few boss encountes).

Would have to do an extensive revamp of food stats so they are a good bit larger as well as upping quantity made and lowering rarity of ingredients.

The upside is baking and brewing would have real sales potential.

Having a normal food on auto eat and consumable stat food is really the way to go.

And if you are worried about complanints, add a 1 aa point aa skill called whatever that gives you 100hp/100mana(currently the most you can get out of the best food and drink known) or give it free so no one can complain that they lost any stats with the change.

          Disagree with buttered horse meat

          "slippery and stinky"

          Garlic-Buttered Horse meat

I re-read the first lines differently, as if they were a recipe themselves.

Include the apothecary (mortar and pestle), of one with the shell (Turepta Liver) the muscles of dragons so wet (?)

so, had a rogue friend DNC in Mortar and Pestle

          Turepta Liver
Turepta Liver + Water Dragon Meat
Turepta Liver + Sea Dragon Steaks

And I DNC in collapsible Mixing Bowl and Tanaan Oven
          ...further whittling down the possibilities.

Ok, can anyone explain to me the relationship with /buyer and items.

          Bristlebane's Challenge Meats

This item can be used in tradeskills.

Does this mean someone on The Nameless has made this item, and is just keeping quiet?

Couldn't agree more. Slight comparison is the bristlebane's party platters. Rare component was regrua claws, PoWater drop (flag zone), and difficult to get to geographically...and water zones stink. However, the claws were able to be obtained every 18min (22? whatever the spawn time). If, in fact we're looking at sea dragon meat, as everyone is guessing. There is 1 day a week, for roughly a handful of people to obtain the meat. Every old world dragon is killed on The Nameless within 1-2 hrs of server startup. The dragons aren't on a random timer, so that person(s) has the spawn time, and will be there every week. The final combine is a consumable, and therefore, that same person, every week, has some motivation to continue farming and "keep a supply" of this item.

The best chance the other 98% of the population has of getting this item, is pay out the wazoo, if it does go for sale, or pray for server outtages during prime time.

Again, this is all speculation. Once the recipe IS confirmed, then we'll either be validated, or laughed at by the Ogre because we missed the real drop.

unless its Sea Dragon Meat (not steak) I'm at a loss.

I don't have sea dragon meat, I made the sea dragon steaks before PoR came out and never got rid of them.

As its been said before, I just want to reiterate:

If Sea Dragon Meat was part of the combine, the 1 week no-random timer of Kelorek' Dar really crushes the possibility of any more than a select few obtaining it....every week.

And as for nest dragon meat, "a lot of guilds" still farming DoN/Relic is a broad generalization. High(est) end guilds will only hit these targets if specifically requested. No point in going for loot that's 50-100 hp/mana less, and have substandard effects. Hardest part is the mulitple, possible combines of nest dragon meat. I would not want to waste the meat making a component unless I'm certain.

I just want to see it figured out, then work on how to obtain it. As it stands now, components are too rare to use the usual "guess and test" method with possible combines.

I will have to agree that Nest Dragon Meat is more then rare (never seen it from Rikkukin, Yar Lir, Kessdona or Vishimtar) and the othmir prexus totem thing will make some poor poeple cry their eyes out if they cant find their dragon up (due to overcamp).

Something has to be done about this. Im ok with the fact that we keep same ingredient, but they have to be more common drop at least from DoN dragons. No clue about the sea dragon meat drop.

Being in upper guild will not help you much to get the nest dragon meat. My guild as example is no longer going for kessdona or rikkukin leaving only yarlir (only to get eye when someone looted vish one without yarlir) and Vishimtar.

It look like Tsikut , Shar'Drahn and Ashenback drops the meat too. We have found them up only once since PoR came out (some guild are killing them as soon as they pop). We managed to kill Shar'Drahn once but no meat droped.

So, even if the meat would ALWAYS drop from these mythical mob, the final result would still remain VERY rare.

i will agree with everything but one, im not 100% sure about turpeta liver. I see no one considering Regrua meat. Maybe its because im not 100% sure of the real meaning of apothacary definition. Anyhow, we will need those dragon meat before we consider. I am actively looking for sea dragon (they were not up on server pop and i was there like 2min after they opened on sarryn). It might take a while before i get the nest dragon meat tho, but i will !!

as soon as i get a hold of the component i will keep you updated with DNA or success.

I have been working on the Bristlebanes challenges along with a couple of other people, i find it uncomonly odd that horse meat would drop from one horse model(supposedly a pegasus) and not other horse models.

But that aside, it would have been easier to put the drops in a flagged zone, or make them uncommon to rare rather than 2 nearly non-existant drops. this recipie and subsequent combines are being attempted by what i would guess to be 20 or 30 of the top guilds across eq servers, and most have yet to see any of these meats in 7 years of playing.

Myself being an avid baker/brewer have never seen a sea dragon meat, and have done Kess etc and havent heard of it dropping on my server let alone in my guild.

If the end result is a bragging item then the quest is useless to 99.9% of everquest and worthless of the time spent to even attempt a single combine.

rarity is one thing Ngreth, impossible for all but the extremely lucky is ridiculous

Rarity is fine, if I have to farm something for a few hours to get something then thats ok. Mythical is not fine, if I have to sit in a zone and do nothing for a week to catch a raid mob up just for a rare chance at some meat that's insanity.

And just because some people store food doenst mean all of us are as obssesive compulsive and do that.

If your going to make high end raid stat food and assume that were not going to eat it then level the playing field and give us a food/drink slots that gives the stats of the items and doesnt consume it.

Dont let the dev just assume that were all cheaters and force you to make this so rare as to be non-existant.

Change things to be rare drops from common mobs so that people that want this can go get it. You can then keep it as rare as you want without it being unobtainable.

If this recipie actually does use Nest Dragon Meat, then items like
                    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=35201

                    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=34724 (to name a few)
are actually going to be more common and easier to obtain than a food item. Even given the fact that careful force-feeding can preserve food forever, is this really what was intended?

After reading my post and reflecting on it a day, i realize that it sounds both mean and harsh. And though I personally stil do not agree with the rarity of at least two of the assumed items most of us do agreee Ngreth has ben doing an amazing job overall. Not only in the baking areas of tradeskills but in the community of them. I am sure most of you like myself use the majority of the tradeskills (if not all of them ) and have seen some sweeping changes to alchemy, new recipies for brewing fletching tinkering and so forth. the greater majority of them having been successful. Thanks Ngreth for the time you have put in to make improvements to those recipies and skills.

My problems with the occasional recipie will still be vocal, but please do not take it personally as we all answer to someone looking over our shoulder.
I do think though that the super rare (near impossible) drop rate for the 2 meats makes this recipie unusable and only see it being made a few times across servers. I would love to see somewhat more common drops on some of these items, with a rare drop from one mob that can be killed(farmed) without disrupting other players enjoyment of xxx zones. Perhaps putting horsemeat drops in places that arent used a lot anymore (fear/plane of growth/???) would be helpful. and makeing the sea dragon meat necessity sea dragon snapper (only because it fits the rhyme) would be helpful.

Still haveing kessadona yar'lir etc is a hardship tho for tons of tradeskillers unless they are in upper end guilds since they will never see that drop. Cant we make the mobs more common while still having the drop be rare yet accesable to most? There is a solution, and I am sure that many of us would love to help You and Maddoc reach it without flaming and bashing our heads against a wall.

Thanks for all the work you are putting into the TS community and we will keep voicing opinions to keep you on the right path.

This recipe is not worth the effort. I don't remember ever getting a nest dragon meat in dozens of kills of all the raid dragons in DON, so I'm not even going to pursue attempting this recipe, it's pointless.

It's premature to say that this is not worth the effort since we don't know what the final reward is going to be. If it turns out to be a 100hp stat food then you're absolutely right about not being worth it. If it's 150 HPs then maybe. If it turns out to be a 200 HPs stat food with a yeild of 20 and droppable then I'd say that it would be well worth while.

Those are some extreme examples and the final result will probably fall somewhere in the middle.

with four so deeply fungal a breed And do not forget the best of all
so round and red to cap it tall"

This has been determined to be Bristlebane's Challenge Vegetables.

                            The recipe is:

                            (3) Lettuce
                            Olive
                            Grilled Red Peppers
                            (4) Exquisite Deep Mushroom
                            Tomato

                            Trivial is 200

                            --------------------------------------------------------------
                            3rd Challenge (Sauces):

"Of the wet and tasty one must know that a simple spiced jug must go
Fennel and cream does make it tasty Oil of the brainless does not make it hasty Whip the oil from the child of the dragon and dressing from the stout often drunken"

This has been determined to be Bristlebanes Challenge Sauces.

                            The recipe is:

                            Creamy Fennel Dauce
                            Dragon Mayonnaise
                            Dwarven Dressing
                            Jug of Sauces
                            Vegetable Oil

                            Trivial is 200

                            ---------------------------------------------------------

                            4th Challenge (Meats):

We all ready know the trivial on this will be 200 and it is called Bristlebane's Challenge Meats.

The recipe has not necessarily been hashed out, but is believed to include 2 (two) very, very rare drops (ack! ridiculous!).

                            So far we have.........

To get to the meat of the matter Include the apothecary of one with a shell

-- We all seem to agree this is a Turepta Liver

The muscles of dragons so wet

-- This one is feared to be Sea Dragon Steak

Stone lizards ground in a gut so well

-- It seems to be agreed that this one is Darkhollow Basilisk Sausage

The heart of trees wrapped tight

-- This one is thought to be Treant Vegetable Sausage

More of the dragons who roost at home

-- This one is feared to be Nest Dragon Meat

Make the ones you ride slippery and stinky

-- This one is believed to be Garlic-Buttered Horse Meat

Once more to the nest with a drake in tripe

-- This is believed to be Nest Drake Sausage

And of the last two grill away Beast of the mountaintop

-- This is thought to be Grilled Cragbeast

And wolf of war and discord

-- And this is thought to be Grilled Hynid

So -- it appears that the recipe may actually be known -- however -- it requires two drops so rare, they are all most mythical in nature.

                            -----------------------------------------------------------------

                            5th Challenge (Final Combine):

All shall join in the challenge with the four
to make one's tummy happy and sore."

This has been determined to be the clue to the final combine. My bet it is called "Bristlebanes Challenge Platter." heh.

So far we know it will require:

                            Bristlebane's Chellenge Vegetables
                            Bristlebane's Challenge Sauces
                            Bristlebane's Challenge Meats
                            Bristlebane's Challenge Cheeses

It is theorized that these may require an item to combine them in, like a Picnic Basket.

                            --------------------------------------------------------------------------

we also know the pages for these clues are found as ground spawns at:

Elddar: In the cornner of the building of the giant "house" in the far west of the zone.

Takish: North east behind the towers where the Treants gather.

Arcstone: East of the ruins port in on the lowest level

Relic: By the most Northeastern pillar in the "bazaar" area

Devistation: Southeast part of the center block that repersents the severage zone

That about sum it up so far?

Nest DRAKE Meat with Nest DRAGON Meat..............

It looks to me like you missed the Nest DRAGON Meat -- using Drake Meat, Wurm Meat and Dragon meat, instead. At least those are ruled out, maybe.

It appears the recipe is going to be:

                            Turepta Liver
                            Sea Dragon Steak
                            Darkhollow Basilisk Sausage
                            Treant Vegetable Sausage
                            Nest Dragon Meat
                            Garlic-Buttered Horse Meat
                            Nest Drake Sausage
                            Grilled Cragbeast
                            Grilled Hynid

Anyone got those parts to have a try at it?

A asked about this at the Atlanta Fan Fair - if any consideration was being given to changing this because of the impossibility of acquiring both meats. Ngreth did looked a bit frustrated by my question with my question (/wave Ngeth) -- but the response was basically consideration has been given but isn't likely.

More than likely (from other questions that were asked, not specifically about this meat -- but rare TS drops) -- the meats might be added to more hi-end MOB's.

I have made all the other 3 items. I don't think I will ever get the 4th one, LOL. Even with the multiple kills of Rikki and others in DoN -- not a single Nest Dragon meat has been seen yet.

If I ever get one tho -- I'll post and see if anyone else on Bert has the other meat and we can try the combine.

Ngreths rhymes have been fairly simple to decipher given a little thought.
we are fairly sure of the combines but they need to be attempted/done.

I would personally look for those rare items and expect them to work as Ngreth said he was asked to make it ultra-rare pretty much telling us we were on the right track.

Dragon wing bones are supposed to turn into 10 drake wing bones (no fail) so either that combine got borked or Ngreth is being a little sneaky.

Just did an xp grind in a mission in Nest. Completed it 1 and 1/2 hours later 9 aa and only 1 nest drake meat.

Ignore tradeskill flag for now a few tradeskilled item are not flagged as such, wild blueberries and crimson berries are 2 examples.

Anyone got those parts to have a try at it?

I managed to find sea dragon meat on Maelin (8k off bazaar trader) so all I am missing are hynid meat (easy farming in Natimbi) and Nest Dragon Meat. If anyone on Maelin has the Nest Dragon Meat shoot me an in game email and we could get together.

me too. Even I'm running out of steam here. Still no Nest Dragon meat yet for me.

Ngreth any chance you could drop a hint? Something like "Nest Dragon meat is not needed in Bristlebane Challenge Meat" or "try Iksar meat" would help a bit.

What about horse meat? If it is the right one, they dson't drop very often if ever at all. I don't check bazaar 24/7 but I haven't seen one for over a month. Maybe some cheap no name burger joint is hogging the horse meat for their hamburgers?
