I found over 1000 diamonds, over 1000 raw diamonds, over 1000 flawless diamonds on a group of merchants. The same merchants had over 500 serpent spine diamonds. This was in a rarely used zone. Is there a TSS zone that is bugged that is dropping the wrong items or too many gems?

If memory serves, raw diamonds drop exclusively in PoP zones, flawless diamonds in Velious zones, and Serpent Spine diamonds in TSS zones, obviously. SS diamonds are vendor fodder, flawless diamonds are quest items, and raw diamonds are tradeskill items; though obviously all can be sold for cash.

The sheer quantity makes me wonder; it would be very difficult to farm or collect 1000 flawless diamonds. It's also unlikely you'd get such a mishmash of gems just by farming or exp'ing; anyone who farms that quantity must have done it in different zones for each type, which multiplies the needed time. My first hunch is some kind of dupe bug, but I've got nothing to substantiate that other than the improbable numbers and types.

Eight horses and a bunch of gems? This looks like an account was cleaned out either to give it all away or it was hijacked and the plat sold.

I found about 14-15 stacks of blue diamonds, this morning, in one zone, and there were also raw diamonds, serpent spine diamonds and flawless diamonds in about the same quantities...

I just assumed someone was quitting the game and cleaning out their inventory or something, but now I wonder....

            14-15 stacks?

I hoard, but even I don't hoard this many!

Perhaps /bug it? Then at least they can't say you were exploiting a bug!

              something is fishy

Something is wrong. Must be a dupe bug. Hopefully SOE can find it and squash it.

yes, well, one of my guildies announced he was quitting Eq this morning, so i guess I had that at the top of my mind as a possible explanation.

Obviously, I wont be selling the BDs, and I've already alerted Ngreth.

I honestly wouldnt have found anything wrong with it myself :P

Course, I dont look into things too deep, seeing as I just figure people who can actually farm stuff farm them lol

Course, it also helps seeing 30k+ radiants on some of my old guildies traders..

I wasnt too suspicious myself until Kekenewah posted...he is on a different server than I am and yet we both report essentially the same thing.

More on a lark than anything, I ran around some starting cities looking for odd items on merchants. Other than a concentration of Clockwork parts (from Corathus Creep) on vendors in the Felwithe cleric guild, I didn't see anything that struck me as odd -- and even the Clockwork parts looked like someone dumping their excess inventory, though I found it odd that they were spread out in chunks of 20-30 on each vendor.

I've noticed that BDs have been nearly non existent in the bazzar over the past couple weeks -- at most 2 or 3 vendors selling a handful. Previously there has always been 10+ vendors selling in large quantities.

Ok, there has Got to be some sort of exploit being used on gems. I am currently in Rivervale, and so far, on merchants all over RV, I am up to 1764 Black sapphires, 802 Flawless Diamonds, 655 Serpent Spine Diamonds, and I stopped counting at 2000 Diamonds, and 2000 Raw Diamonds. I have only checked about a dozen merchants so far...Amounts like 266 Black Sapphires on one merchant. I have made I don't know how many Artisan Charms, and Black Sapphires just don't appear this way on vendors--lord knows, I have vendor mined often enough for em...
Anyway, I read this thread earlier, and decided to pop into various zones, to see what I could see. This was my first zone to look in. I tried to /petition, but got bumped out of the game /sigh. I have bugged it, but, someone who CAN use the new *&^%$ petition system might want to give it a shot. This smells of a serious-to-be problem.

                            Thanks

After reading about these odd experiences with gems, I decided to do some checking around on the Tribunal server, on which I play. To date, I have yet to encounter a merchant with a huge stack of valuable gems on his person. The bazaar, however, is a very different story. Normally on the Tribunal server, you can always find anywhere from 10-20 sellers offering blue diamonds for sale at around the 300-350 platinum piece price range. Today, when I went to set up my trader, I discovered only two people selling blue diamonds, and in the 450-500 platinum piece price range. Indeed, as I was setting up my trader's prices, some anonymous character ran up and bought out my small supply of blue diamonds before I could adjust the price for them. When I returned to my computer an hour later, there was NOBODY in the bazaar selling blue diamonds. Very suspicious indeed. Something out of the ordinary is definitely going on out there.
