on fennin ro pretty much every vendor in rivervale has close to 50 diamonds, raw diamonds, jacinths, and black sapphires. some vendors are even in the hundreds.

It might also be a vendor bug - I remember for a while that happening with that silly earring that dropped off the ogres (on same island that the Spirocs treehouse was on) in Timorous Deep. I can't remember the name of the earring, but if one got sold to a vendor in Felwithe, that vendor would be willing to sell back many times that amount of them...

Over the past month I have been checking Baz for BDs and buying any that are reasonably priced, and I did think it odd that over the past week there has been very few and sometimes zero people selling them.

However I havent seen any on vendors in large amounts, but then I havent really been looking in out of the way places.

From what people have been saying... this smells a bit fishy!!!

This also makes me worried that if i was to buy any of these gems, that I might get caught up in a rollback or something.

....and I sure could use 500 BDs to finish off my Jewlcrafting!

However I am not risking my plat.... I wont be buying any from vendors untill this problem is fixed.

I am a regular vendor diver on Fennin... I'm not seeing any funky excessive amounts of any gems anywhere... On any given day I spend 2+ hours vendor diving. I hit all over the place.. Hometowns, pok, tss, LOY, LDoN, OOW, Gates, etc.... I have noticed more CDD, but that's because it's dropping more frequently in the last couple expansions.. heck my XP group last night had 3 drop in like 2 hours. BD's are still super rare to find.... vendors pretty much always have blue sapphires, Diamonds, raw diamonds, and Jacinths. I won't say there is normally more than 100 of any of those on a merchant, but it is at the point I never buy them, knowing if I need them I can easily pick them up.

I, curiously, headed out to Rivervale this morning and one 1 vendor found anywhere between 40 - 80 gems sitting on the vendor: black sapphire, diamond, raw diamond, flawed diamond, serpent spine diamond, a couple other kinds. However, there were zero blue diamonds.

Not sure what the story is, I am on a different serveral as well, and while it is not in the 100s like other people it is a bit strange. I also took a stack of blue diamonds with me to see if this vendor bought them at a separate price, but she asked for 238pp for them.

Sounds to me like there might be a quest that either has out-of-whack rewards, or is completable with something easily acquired in Rivervale.

Nope, not in Rivervale only. I popped into West Freeport last night, and within just the first few vendors-Boomba, the Wyspin(sp) brothers, the Nooz sibling merchants, and the fletching vendors, counted over 500 black sapphires, and close to 800 diamonds, flawless diamonds, raw diamonds, and serpent spine diamonds--each. Went into East Freeport, and hit a few vendors, first 3 I stopped at had over 50 of each gem on them. And just those 5 gems-no rubies, sapphires, emeralds, pearls, etc. So, if someone is just popping in and selling their loot, one of which is a Velious drop, and one of which is a TSS drop, they are certainly killing/farming in the strangest pattern I have ever seen, lol.

I did some more looking around, only this time I went to the official EverQuest forums. After some digging, I discovered a thread titled "Gems". When I opened it up, I discovered it had been moved, locked, and modified. The reason? According to the moderator's message, posts that contain information about cheats, hacks, or other forbidden game activities are not allowed.

Son of a.....well, it certainly appears that something scummy is up, and Sony is apparently aware of it. Let's hope they do something about this, and quick.

Oh my! I just checked Bazaar on Prexus and there is someone selling 239 Blue Diamonds... the next highest has 64 BD on them.

Suuure they farmed them...

If someone is duping I doubt they are selling to Bazaar. I'd guess the bazaar sellers are innocent victims who found them on vendors thinking they had a lucky find.

Who knows but hopefully they can fix this without a big mess.

About half of the merchants in Felwithe on The Nameless have 50+ each of these 5 gems and no others.

Dev is aware that inordinate amounts of gems are showing up on vendors. If anyone has any details on the dupe itself, please PM me with those details so Dev can take care of it.

I have over 600 blue diamonds on a mule but I have been buying them forever. Someone "could" have unloaded a gem mule(I have about 4000 gems total on my mules, I rarely sell any gems I loot and I buy all diamonds/blue diamonds I see on vendors). So it may NOT be a dup issue it could possibely be someone selling their stuff cause they are quitting. NOW if 5-6 people have over 1000 blue diamonds then yes something funny may be going on but do not think just because 1 person is sellling a load of gems that there is a problem. TSS drops gems quite frequently. I get 5-6 blue diamonds a night from killing mobs and most nights I am soloing. A group could get 10-20 a night with the many more kills they do.

I see 100's of black sapphires on vendors all the time so they are being looted and sold to vendors. If BS's are so could other gems.
