Level 70 Requirement for Tradeskills..

This is the most rediculous thing ever, since when should we have to grind levels out for more than a month just to do tradeskills? And what does your level have to do with this at all.. even the armor you make is 69 Recommended.

This should be changed to skill level and maybe a lower level cap, maybe 60 and 300 smithing and /or tailoring to get the task... would make sense since the book is called Master's...

Only people who wont agree with me on this are the peopel who are 70 already.. pls any who agree with me on this, at least about the level part, submit your thoughts on this please and lets get this changed..

The way I look at it is that the level requirement is not to do trade skills, but for your culture to recognize you as worthy of trusting you with the more powerful lore.

Levels are, after all, known and recognized by npcs in many other aspects, just as various ranks and positions are recognized in RL.

I seriously doubt that the logic that went in to this had anything to do with roleplaying... moreso something like

"People who do tradeskills 24/7 will have to leave doing their tradeskills and having fun and doing something they enjoy, to go level up so if they don't have oow yet they will have to go buy that, and the reward will go to the people who have had oow for longer and are 70",

or simply,

"That they want people to take longer to get these recipes out, as most people who are 70 are guilded and raid as well as do tradeskills, and people who arent guilded and just do tradeskills will have to take time to level up"

I doubt it has anything at all to do with any type of script or role playing logic, behind it all thats not what keeps a game like this running, its simply that people who've lvled all ts to 250 and put their aa into it and all the time, and are 65+, most likely won't quit after all this time, and will have to take even more time playing this game and lvl up to 70, and bring fun back to this game in raiding etc and get them hooked moreso back into hardcore raiding and experience more in the game for future expansions..

Yea. I agree. I'm cranky about having to be grind to 55 to train in the mastery AA's (Btw does lvl req progress as you do in ranks?)

I Can't do my master's armor (which I might actually use some pieces) Because I'm not 60. Figures.. just the way Tradeskills go. by the time you CAN make it you already have something better. =//

Plus I dun wanna buy OOW just for their silly lvl 70 either =(( waaa

Tone of a rant = rant / vent / cursing ? No, meant production. Only way anyone listens to you is either if you beg them or tell them logically what is up and hope they will see your vision on it, thats what i tried here. Doubt anyone is going to lsiten to begs, they never have in the past.

I agree with you that the restriction should be eliminated. There is no particular reason for it in real-life or fantasy terms. It is in fact more the rule in either arena that the master craftspeople that make the best weapons and armor are not experts in the use of their products. They spend their time perfecting their craft rather than going out and hacking at things/people.

On the other hand, tone is important. You say yourself that to get someone to listen you need to beg or explain your position logically, but your first post did not do this or at least included a lot of unnecessarily angry rhetoric.

I agree that the level restrictions to get the recipe books and do the combines should go.

But what I find even more frustrating is what is required to even be able to get the required books. I was looking forward to playing with tradeskills again while looking for a group for hours on end. To get the level 3 human book, this druid is assigned a task where the first step is killing 80 mobs in Dragon Necropolis.

It is hard enough to find a group to do ANYTHING at all in EQ days. Do I really expect to find 5 folks who want to go to DN? So basically, I just chalk up yet another expansion with tradeskill recipes that I will never be able do.

I had really hoped that since a race can only make armour for their own race and because the stats on the pieces aren't that impressive, Sony would see fit to make access to the required items accessible. Silly me.

I agree completely that the level restrictions should at least be lowered. It doesn't make any sense that you can wear the armor but not be high enough level to make it. But just as a side note for Auricula, the mobs in DN can be soloed. I am also a 66 druid and it's somewhat tedious and slow, but definitely doable. I just root/dot/nuke in the first tunnel...buff yourself up with resists since several of them are caster types, and be aware that some of them can dispell. None of them so far have summoned, and no problems landing spells.

My Cleric would never be able to solo there... no matter what level I am. Just because the other poster is also a Druid, doesn't mean that the concern isn't still very valid. Fortunately for me, High Elves didn't get hit with a "Go to (hard to get to zone that nobody cares about except maybe for Epics)".

I think the required level to do the combines is a bad thing... but if they want to keep it, they should at least lower it to be the same as the required level on the armour you're making... not the recommended level.

I myself was very disappointed when I realized after completing the first 3 books that I would not be able to get the 4th, and as silly as it may seem to most, for the first time in the almost 6 years I've been playing I am giving serious consideration to just packing it in. This isn't an "I quit" rant; it's a "do I still enjoy this game?" analysis.

Even though I'm 67/400+ and 5 box toons of the same level, I just do not think I have it in me to grind out 2 1/2 more levels, for the sole reason of being able to make armor that I thought I could make without being level 70 (I accept responsibility for not investigating that from the beginning). I'm not flagged for anything, and avoid places like WoS, so I would be xping places like Halls of Honor or OoW instances. The most disappointing thing is that I'm pretty much certain that I could complete the quest for 4th book at my current level.

Maybe I've just been playing too long, or maybe I'm just getting old, but the game seems to have really been changing over the last couple years, starting mostly with Planes of Power. I used to enjoy just doing the tradeskill thing, and leaving the leveling and raiding game for everyone else... but more and more it just feels like I'm being force fed "you must conform, you must conform" and it just makes me want to say "no thank you".

We'll see I suppose.

I don't like it either. I don't see what levels have to do with tradeskill levels. I've certainly put as much time into learning tailoring and could have reached seventy with many AAs instead, but tradeskills are more of interest to me. I've never liked how SOE likes to dictate playstyles by this sort of forced choice.

As for the RP issue, think back to the days when people wore armor and actually fought hand to hand. Do you think the most skilled armorers were really the same people who went out and did the fighting? I doubt it. It's hard work to learn to fight well, and it's hard work to learn to craft well, but there's no reason the two learnings have to be connected.

My post was not to indicate that the concern wasn't valid, only to share for that poster that for a druid at least it is possible For some other classes though, I agree trying to get people to go to DN is going to be extremely difficult. And after killing ~140 chetari now and still missing the last drop I have a rant of my own You can really only spend so many hours listening to "squeak! squeak!" before going completely and utterly mad I suppose there's no hurry really, since once I finish the master level it will probably be months before I can grind to 70. The great thing about tradeskills is being able to accomplish something even if you only have half an hour to play. Alot of people don't have large chunks of time to devote to hard core exp. grinding.

The grandmaster armor recipe trivials are between 350-400, right?

So, you want to make Grandmasters armor.. or do you just want to try? To have a reasonable chance of success, you need to be at/near 300, with some mastery and salvage AAs for a bonus, right?

So, you want to go through the complete INSANITY that is getting smithing and/or tailoring to 300? And eventually you can do it I guess.. at whatever level.

It might be news to you, but getting to level 70 takes only a small fraction of the time that you have spent getting your skills to 300. In the process you may even loot some of the items you need for your tradeskills.. and maybe see some game content that "others" are talking about.

For the level 67/400+ guy - getting to lvl 70 for you is about the same as getting 30AA.. takes you maybe couple weeks during which you can stock up on all kinds of DoN dropped/foraged stuff and get some nice faction.

For everyone else.. there is so much more in this game than bazaar, pok and abysmal sea. Went through Yxxta riddles for the first time yesterday, what a thrill..

PS. I have 260 smithing, 2x 180 tailoring, around 200 in other skills.
