Best vendor dive?

To follow up on the DenMothers post... anyone else have any good finds on vendors?

My best (although I didn't really realise it until much later) was off the othmirs in Cobalt Scar.

I used to go there now and then to hand in Ulthork tusks or fish for cod, and always made it a habit to check the vendors. Over the course of a few months I picked up 6 runed sea shells with enduring breath, which I hoarded up for my future attempt at the 7th shawl (still not there yet!).

I think I paid less than a plat each for them.

Months.. probably years... later (I am not exactly a power gamer - I have played since '99 and my main is still only 56... but I have about 20 chars in the 20s and 30s and a few in the 50s)... I finally set up a bazaar mule around the same time that Sirens Grotto was revamped. I then sold three of the shells for 4K pp each. I've kept the other three until I do the seventh shawl (I don't like velk's and only have around 40 threads so far).

As someone who has never had more than 2K in the bank that 12K seemed like a fortune to me!

Heh, I remember when I got my Sea Shell. Off a vendor in PoK, and one that's typically filled less than an hour after a server up too. Made me happy.

Just found a Gold-Tipped Boar Horn (for the Greater Cloak of Pernicity quest) on a vendor last night. The merchant wanted ~8pp for it...

I haven't had any astounding finds, but there's been some moderately impressive things. 1cp for Kromrif Blood that sold for 2.5k. A few plat for a tormentor hoof that sold for something like 1.5k. A few plat for a gold tipped boar horn right after PoP came out that I rediscovered and sold for 6k a few weeks ago.

I think my favorite was a Highly Polished Gem for ~17pp ... got that turned into a nice earring which usually goes for ~10-18kpp, which I still am wearing.

Ornate Boot Mold. For 1sp.

My own best was a pair of Metallic Liquids. Can't remember the price since I bought 'em so fast!

my best find is liquefied earth for 6pp -- sold in 2 days for 20k.

prior to that, my best find was 10 BDs, back when they sold for 2k per.

Even though it wasn't profittable, my best find was somewher ebetween 4 and 6 stacks of silk swatches in EK (roughly 7-9PP per stack).

At the time I was working on Wu's armor.

Another great find was 2 stacks of woven mandrake (few silver each as opposed to 6PP for 2 mandrake).

Your "best" find doesn't have to be hugely profittable (but I'll admit, it is VERY nice!)

Even though conventional vendor mining is dead I still can find plenty of goodies. (won't give away my secrets, but I visit at least 5 zones checking vendors whenever I log in or out)

So far I have found:

Multiple copies of rare high end research materials including a copy of Yaeth's 73 right that I found right after the servers came back up yesterday.

Tons of expensive spells: voice of the berserker, protection of seasons, spirit of snow etc....

An alabaster beak that I held onto for nearly 6 months until my pottery was high enough to turn it into a xegony totem.

thousands of assorted silks, pelts, velium, acrylia and other goodies.

2 flawless tae ew hides.

Tons of little stuff for tempers, dyes, etc...

I love vendor mining, I just wish they would bring back the hidden slots

1 Prelate's Lantern for 2k.

With the exception of the spells, all within the past two weeks.

There is one Highly Polished Gem, which is used to craft a Bloodstone Erring of Engagement, that has been for sale in the Bazaar on my server for 17,000 plats for a few weeks.
My gnome just found one last night on a vendor and paid 13 plats for it.

Bought 2 weeks ago 2 air arachnid silks for 700pp each at the bazaar.

Pretty happy as they are sold for 15/20k each on Karana (thanks Aid Grimel )

I found a Black Panther skin tunic on a vendor the other day, bought it for 40pp from the vendor, and sold it for 1200pp on my trader that night..not bad

My best dive most recently (well not THAT recent...but I haven't been diving much) was the Journal of Aatblahblah for the oracle quest. Got it for like 49p from a vendor in Felwithe. REALLY good for me since I had NO intention of going into KK to camp one for myself, plus those were going for around 25k (up to 70k from one mo-mo) at that time. Thankfully for others doing the quest the price has come down quite a bit now.

Prior to that it was highly polished gem I got from a vendor then turned around and sold for 35k within hours. Happy dance time =)

My husband's best "deal" was from a PC merchant. He got velium encrusted gaunts for 7500p (yes, seventy five hundred and no it wasn't mistaken prices, this person had other stuff worth 30k+ marked down to 1k) and a few months ago after he got all the good outta em we sold em for cash+goods equal to over 100k.
