Is it possible to buy Blue diamonds off vendors and sell them for a profit in the bazaar? I typically can buy them off a vendor for 330 plat. How do you buy them for less?

You've got to sweet talk the vender; ie. more charisma. With high enough CHA, venders sell them for about 262pp and change. 'Course, this may have been changed...anyone know?Originally posted by epsilon97

Hmm, you must be overpaying for everything you buy from NPCs then.Originally posted by epsilon97

Get your charisma at about 130. Buy a couple of Opal Encrusted steins (+25 CHA each) as a quich CHA boost.
At best CHA, blue diamonds cost just a little over 262pp from NPC vendors.

The market seems flooded with Blue Diamonds. I see them all the time on multiple vendors in PoK. I've tried selling them in the bazaar but no buyers. Why? They drop everywhere now and are considered vendor fodder.
If you have enough plat, you may consider trying to corner the market and buy up all the BD's you find. That will make them more sellable in the bazaar.Barli Truebeard

Currently on Stromm people are gouging the market for Blue Diamonds. This morning there were about 30 for sale ranging from 600pp to 1600pp...yeah right. I'll pass.Jigge Widit

Yes, if you try to find BD's on vendors, you definitely will. The thing is that people are lazy. Just yesterday I sold my last 3 BD's @ 350pp each. I proceeded to check all the bazaar vendors, and ended up with 7 more BD's @ 262pp each.
I don't mind making pp of the laziness of others.

At indifferent faction (which you will have with the LDoN vendors) getting best price (262 and change on a BD) only requires a CHA of 104. It's not hard to gear up to that -- my Ogre Warrior with a 40 CHA can do it with 2 Opal Steins (25 each) and 2 Gold Cat's Eye Bracelets (7 each).
I have noticed BDs getting rarer on vendors, I'm not quite sure why, but I snap them up when I see them for Cultural armor. Velium prices have also gone up, but there's a good reason for that.Rorgg Bearskin

Bah the markets on Prexus is too screwy to even try and make a collective generalization like that. Example Orante Plate Greaves Mold sell at 80k in bazazar most of the time I see them. Ornate Plate Boot Mold goes for 100k. Misty Picnics fluctuate depending on who is selling. One guy keeps steady at 15-20p each, so most everyone goes at 15-20p, I run at 10 steady and have market pretty much cornered. If I'm not runnign a trader, then price is steady high around 15p. BD;s are junk loot now on prexus

grrr.....I hate undercutters. Why wouldn't you just price at 15 with everyone else?Originally posted by Silound

It's not that I'm going about undercutting, it's that one person is purposely trying to drive up prices, and he's mostly succeeding. I've been selling for 10p for a long time, much longer than he's been selling.
He's (ok it could be a she) has asked me more than once to up my price so he can keep the large profit margin. I simply refuse because I know they aren't worth 20pp, and having them cost that much is likely to either create more GM bakers, or get more people selling them thus creating an undercutters market and driving out the bottom. After all, they cost less than a plat each to make.
Three months after EotS quest was live, Misty Picnice dropped from costing 100p each to under 10, as low as 5. I started selling about that time when they sold at 8p each. Since then I don't fluctuate my price because having a lower bidder is essential to keeping the market steady.

I have the same thing on Terris-Thule with sheets of etherial energy for Ornate plate. I sell steady at 250pp never change my price and always have 50-100 for sale. One person has decided to sell at 149pp. When I first noticed him he had 171 of them. If he priced them the same as everyone else(5 people at 250 and 1 person at 500) when all of his sold(which they would, mine still sell because he isn't on 24x7 and last I saw he has like 70 more this is provided he has not made more) he would have made an extra 17k. So in essense he lost 17k by undercutting because they do sell and sell well at 250pp each. He may be selling his first, when he is on, but he is losing a lot of pp in the process.Liwsa 75 Druid Prexus - Retired

On Torv blue diamonds have become remarkably scarce in the last couple of weeks. It is possible someone is buying them up in an effort to corner the market and raise prices but there is another possibility.
Many people are probably aware there was a multi-server semi-scripted farming operation going on in OS for the past couple of months, usually consisting of a chanter/cleric combo that farmed the Jail/NG area of OS non stop 24/7 (on Torv it was the infamous Blakkin/Blutang combo, not sure how many other servers were involved). It appears that in the last patch, which was officially about fixing some issues with respect to crashing, the mobs in NG and Jail no longer drop gems - period.
I am relying on a friend who camped NG a few days ago for this information - can anyone corroborate?
That may have something to do with it - the farmers have vanished for the moment and players can actually do NG and Jail again. The problem with that theory is that bds drop in many places now, and I don't remember them dropping in any specially great quantity in OS.
[Edit 4 Dec 03: of course there were a bunch of bds for sale last night at normal prices, so much for my theory]Last edited by Araon; 12-04-2003, 03:01 PM.Araon Trueheart
