Now Lilosh, I wouldn't be too hard on her. If you check her credentials you'll probably find that she's a vetran atheletic nucular realator too.

              A little humor injection here:
(Originally by some comedian overheard on the radio; didn't catch the name. )
The Law of Constant Consonants: There is a constant number of consonants in use at any given moment and nothing we do can change this. Like energy, they can neither be created nor destroyed. Any attempt to do so has repercussions elsewhere. This is why people from Boston say they are "going out to wash the cah" and people from Texas say THEY are going out to "warsh the car".

              It's also reminding me of one of my favorite jokes to tell (spoken): M R ducks. M R not. O S A R, C M wings N C D ED BD FEET? L I B, M R ducks!

                I just can't resist....

Okay, since the subject of oratory skills and deep understanding of the english language seems to be a side topic here I just can't resist posting one of my favorite sites for this kind of humor. Some of the quotes in here reminded me of it:

                http://www.dubyaspeak.com/

The best part are the audio clips they have.

Hey Lilosh, I think your trainer has a sister that works for XXXX (major Mortgage/loan company that does much of the financing on GM car sales). It took me 20 minutes to verify insurance with this woman and more than HALF of the things she said I asked her to repeat because her diction was so sloppy. I got "can I axe..." at least 10 times. I started the phone call trying to understand her and simply could not sometimes. The part that really got me was that every time I asked her to repeat something she'd say it in CLEAR English; axe became ask, etc. So, she could do it but was just being lazy. By the end of the call, I was asking her to repeat EVERYTHING just to make a subtle point (I even got her to repeat "Have a nice day.") She didn't catch it of course.

                    more spoken jokes.

                    MR Farmers
                    MR not
                    OSAR
                    CM MT pockets?
                    LIB MR Farmers

                    and

                    MR snakes
                    MR not
                    OSAR
                    CM BD eyes?
                    LIB MR snakes.

I loved writing these out and handing to folks at work, claiming it was a test, and laughing as they failed.

                    highlight for the solution.....

em are farmers (them are farmers),
em are not (them are not)
oh ess ey are (oh yes they are)
see em empty pockets (see them empty pockets?)
ell I bee, emm are farmers (well I be, them are farmers.)

So that's where all my "r"s went to! I'm going to Texas to get them back!!!

As for the letter talking, they tried a learn-Spanish tape back home,

Mam, what are on your feet?

                      Socks?

                      Yes, could you spell those?

                      S O C K S?

                      Yes, what is that?

                      Socks?

(S O C K S - Esso si' que es means "Yes, that, what is it?" in Spanish)

Hark! Who is that, prowling along the fields! It is Draggar De'VIr, hands clutching two hardened pitas! He cries gutterally: "In the name of Thor the Mighty, I hereby void your warranty, and send you back to God!!!"

On the subject of practical jokes, if you are ever in Germany, with someone who doesn't speak the language, should you stop by a bakery (well, anywhere really), ask this person to get you a dozen dafons, and explain that the salesperson will try to sell you wofons, but you don't want those.

                            Words

One of the guys I work with has problems with the following words:

                            - Supposedly: To him, it's "Supposably"
                            - Usually: To him, it's "Useurry"

When he says these words, you can often see people around him looking around in confusion, as if, "Did he say what I thought he said... hmmm."

                            I'm pretty amused by it...

I had a friend in gradeschool (may she rest in peace) that could NOT say "Q" or any word with that sound in it, correctly. It came out "cr" like crit (quit) or crestion (question). It drove her INSANE trying to spit it out. But she laughed right along with everyone else about it. I miss her *sob*
