Well... basically... the community has decided that they do not want a pricing feature : http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?t=15995 basically becasue of foraged and drop comonents. http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/forumdisplay.php?f=93

Or a way to find out "What was <insert tradeskill flagged item they just looted> used for?"
In game? How in the world would this work? EQIM I see... but in game?

and on further thought... if I gave too much info, this could be used to data mine the site... it may be better if it just gave a link (like teqim does for lucy) to the recipe on the site.

/me points to Tyking who is currently a resident of serverwide.eqtraders and is an eggdrop bot which means he can respond in all sorts of ways to all sorts of triggers that I dream up

In fact just tonight i added a script that would let people Ban characters from a chat channel (well make it so he kicks them from the channel anytime they join it) since Sony didn't provide such a command for it and it was needed. I can pretty write up some code that saves any links it sees and will respond back with an item link when requested for one . My hope was to work with EQTraders to add useful tradeskill functions. Such as "How do i make <item>", "What recipies is <item> used in" and such

          Zaephod,

If when you say "Links" you are refering to in-game links that clickable when you -link- an item in game to them via a tell/ooc/shout/guild/chat channel etc... that would require the EQ Item Id.

In the database we do have a spot for that ID... but it is rarely filled in. It would require a fair bit of lookup and loading from some place like Lucy. The IDs we normally link within the site are our internally DB generated IDs which have no relation at all to the IDs used in-game.

Now Maybe... if you can convince the folks who maintain Lucy to support a EQ Item ID lookup XML type function... you could take the item name we track carefully, toss it at Lucy, and get back in the in-game Item ID they track carefully.

            Or...

find a person (not Krazic) willing to take the task of looking up Item ID's in lucy (they are the same as EQ's ID since it uses a sniffer) and entering them into our DB (this person would get access to do so)

I'm a tad confuzzed... but Lucy never liked me anyway...

              When you say 'Item ID'...
              Fresh Fish is 13019...
              Spit is 17947...
              Bat Wing is 13068 ?

I always thought item id was a hugearse long string of like 25+ digits... is that the correct number?

"Real" item ids in EQ tend to be less than 32,000 - so yes, relatively short.

                <foggy memory story>
If I remember correctly, at one point in history some ideas were actually rejected due to how many item ids all the needed items would require and concern about reaching the maximum cap on number of items imposed by the signed 2-byte number used to identify them, or at least that was the reason posted. The item ids were converted to some less restrictive number format eventually, but most items (especially things that have been in the game for a long time) will still be sub-32768 numbers.

I *think* this happened sometime in SoL-era and was caught up in that revamp-athon, but I'm not sure ... I just remember it was after Velious (when mob HP was converted from 2byte signed to (I believe) 4byte signed).

                  Item Link: 0067674-00001-00001-00001-00001-00001AFF7CBF3Black Matter Gemstone

                  Item ID: 0067674 MUCH shorter

and with some help i could mine the IDs pretty easily. The EQIM bot i have setup is set to log all links it sees to a CSV file. I have it parsing out the Name, Link, and ID at the moment for another project i'm fiddling with

So basicly.. being a glutton for punishment I think i would be willing to at least generate csv files with Item Names and Sony Item IDs. And data entry if you don't want to write an import script (Although import script would definately be the way to go )

                    Other note....

If the person mining for the exact ID numbers used Magelo Pro (as I do), it would go very quickly... you can search for, say, 'ornate' and get the first 10 pages of results... the link itself contains the EQID#.
Rather than via Lucy, where you search for the item, click the item, then click Raw, then look for the #.
                    Magelo = speed.

                    • Currently i'm mining the IDs from Raw Item Links via EQIM. So bascily anybody can help by linking things to the serverwide.eqtraders:eqtraders channel. In fact that would probably be the most efficient method to hit the most used recipies in the shortest period of time. If Ngreth decides to move forward with storing EQ Item IDs it would be pretty easy to have a page that listed all of the items in the DB without IDs (select * from Item_Table where EQ_ID = NULL from that intrepid people could hunt down the items and link them to the channel (or a seperate channel) for the bot to catelogue

                      • I'm chatting with Ngreth about this now, and playing around with both Magelo and Lucy. It's a bit tricky, since you have to deal with cookies and their anti-mining features. Still, I have a few ideas.

                          oh reeeeeally....

for the sake of those already in eqtc channel, i vote you make another one of your own, for the sole purpose of linking things to you, /nod/nod... serverwide.zaephodbot or something... and tell me what it is, and i'll throw huge amounts of links your way...

And I would love to see a 'what are we missing' page for eqtc.
heck, is there a way to see what your bot already has, and what it doesn't? or would it be more time effective just to throw everything at you?

                          • Sure the bot is on a box that has a webserver on it i think i could make it's ID/link DB accessable was thinking about tossing it all into a postgress DB anyway to make it easier to deal with Dupes and such (at least easier on my end.. the mining is done in TCL and any DB insertion scripting I do will be done in Perl wich i find to be FAR easier )

At Sanna's request serverwide.eqtclinks:eqtclinks has been created. if you joine expect spammage

For searches with over 100 results angry dwarf looking at a bar tab...
For searches with no results Sad dwarf looking into an empty mug...

Try initially with brewing based searches, and then if you get it to work with other tradeskill searches, make other icons for other trades.
