First off, let me start off by saying that Yes, i know this doesn't exist and probably never will. No need to flame me.
Secondly, this idea may or may not have been brought up before, but I didn't see it. If i'm making yet another in a string of useless posts beating the same dead idea over your heads, I'm sorry.
Anyway. I don't know everything about why we can't have a tinkering mastery AA, but from what I've read the only thing that is keeping this held back is our RACIAL ability of tinkering, and the dev's lack of ability to code a RACIAL aa instead of a class AA
So why don't you make a tinkering mastery AA that is available to EVERYONE.
Now, now....before you smack me with your spanner, hear me out.
I got this idea from the new PoR tradeskill trophy quests and DoN progression to a certain extent. You create the AA, Tinkering Mastery 1, 2, and 3. You code it to be useable by all, but you use means outside of the AA itself to make it obtainable.
Now, based on DoN progression we know that it is possible to award an AA based upon the completion of a quest. Now, take the concept of the PoR tradeskill trophies, apply them 3 times in varying difficulties, and make the reward Tinkering Mastery 1, 2 or 3. The objectives of the quest would obviously be to make tinkered items in the exact same format as the PoR trophies. Make an item, turn it in, etc.
Furthermore, in an effort to make it more "progressive", such as a true AA progression, make the 2nd and 3rd tiers available ONLY after having completed the tier before it.
Now, TECHNICALLY, this AA would be available to say..a high elf. A high elf could most definitely hail the NPC and get the quest, it just couldn't create the items necessary to actually complete it, and thus could never attain the AA's.
I think this would be a doable method of allowing us our Tinkering Mastery AA. I would expect the AA's to functionally be exactly like the other masteries (10, 25, and 50%). I don't see how this idea would be game breaking or anything.
I hope this is clear and concise and I've made my point, Ngreth.
Also, i don't know if this is possible, but could you make the quest reward us with the AA, but make it purchaseable? IE - if I do the tier 1 quest, instead of gaining the AA just out of the blue, it merely makes it available to purchase. In this way it could justifiably be compared to other tradeskill master AA's. The quest would make it available to purchase, but we would still need the same banked AA's as other tradeskillers to actually purchase it.
Just my thoughts on the matter. I'm not holding out much hope, but hey..it never hurts to speak out, right?
